Oh shit! I thought this was an old video.🤣 I thought that you sold this because it’s been so long since I’ve seen the 2nd Gen. I have a 08 DCLB myself. I’ve been wanting to see more 2nd Gen content because anymore it’s always the 3rd. I feel like not enough love goes to the 05-11 years. Stoked to see more tho!
It’s just been collecting dust so we decided to change that 🔥
Regarding the weight in the rear, you actually want a decent amount of weight back there, particularly over / behind the rear axle.. Part of the reason pre-runners or trophy trucks do not nose dive when they fly off jumps is (A) because they remove the firewall and move the engine back, basically halfway into the cab and then rebuild the firewall.. and (B) they put a ton of weight over and behind the rear axle, usually a 99gallon fuel cell, and dual spares which are typically 39-40” which are very heavy. Combine that weight distribution with double shocks front and rear (coilovers + bypass shock), hydraulic bump stops, and safety reinforcements all over the vehicle, and you can start catching some serious air.

All my friends like the over landing setups but I want to build a truck like this and there really isn't any information on building them from the ground up with spring rates etc... I can't stand a truck that has overly stiff springs and can't absorb the bumps or take a corner and just feels like a brick.

I've grown up with loving tacos my dad gave me his when I started high school and I love it, 4x4 6 speed manual trans race line blue, I got the exact same headlights you have from TB and I aspire to turn it into a Baja truck like yours one day though man, one day ill have it lookin beautiful

+TacomaBeast My first comment, was before I finished watching the video. I PERSONALLY, would want to see 2 things with the engine. Both involve keeping it in the family. Keeping everything Toyota.
*OPTION 1: See how far you can go with the 1GRFE. Brian Crower makes a forged billet steel stroker kit to make it a 4.6L V6. On their website they have cylinder sleeves as well. You could get cams and port/polish the heads. Put a smaller Pulley on the supercharger, new fuel system, and like I said, see how far you can get with a built 1GRFE.
*OPTION 2: Swap a Tundra 5.7L V8/3URFE. You could either just straight up swap it and keep the motor stock, OR you could be the FIRST fully Built 3URFE 2nd Gen swapped Tacoma. Brian Crower also makes a stroker kit to make it a 6.8L with forged steel billet again. They have cylinder sleeves and valve springs and titanium retainer clips. XAT makes performance camshafts for the 5.7L. Built motor with a Magnuson supercharger, full exhaust, supporting mods, and a good tune, you’d make an absolute MONSTER 2nd Gen Tacoma. First in the world I believe. You wouldn’t be the first 5.7L swap, but you’d be the first Built 5.7L swapped 2nd Gen. That would be downright awesome. And imagine how much attention that would get and bring traction to the company.👀 Either way, I’m stoked your bringing the OG back.😁🤘🏼

Thats a good increase in power. With smaller tires closer to stock, the supercharger puts around 260hp/tq to the wheels.

For ease of conversion I would throw in the V6 since it is already built for it and supercharge it.

@@tacomabeast power to weight ratio mainly. If you build a 6 cylinder to put out as much power as an 8 you have increased efficiency from reduced weight. More so if you can pull it off with a 4 cylinder.
It's all about if you can throw the same amount of fuel and air through a smaller engine. Better put some good piston rings on it. 😅

Got to keep the power plant Toyota. Either Tundras 1UZ or a 2JZ just build the existing engine with maybe Turbo options. The 2GRFSE from the Lexus IS/GS, which Toyota should of used in the 3rd Gen, makes 306hp and 271 ft lb or torque plus a supercharger has seen over 400hp.

Sick ass truck!!!!… I ordered the same exact bumper and got it installed on my truck less than two weeks ago!!!… but your truck has the wide fender flares, the wide body. Mine is completely stock, and so I was wondering if the Bumper that you ordered is the extra wide bumper to accommodate for the wide fender flares that you have on the truck?… I want to add fender flares also for my truck, but the bumper that I have ISN’T the wide one…is the wide bumper the one that you have installed????

I had Westcott designs install a Magnuson supercharger on my 2021 Tacoma pro 3.5 M/T and am getting around 375 HP. Love the truck now. only downer is I have to run 91 octane.

I would go with Chevrolet’s LT4 crate engine. 650 horses with 650 foot pound feet of torque. It also is supercharged which is nice. I personally think you should get more travel up front if you want to go all out. Beaming it is an option but if you want to stick with IFS that’s cool too. Personally I think 24in of travel up front is good and 26-28in of travel in the rear is sufficient. That’s if you want to build a full blown prerunner. Definitely would get a coil over and bypass combo suspension upfront and the rear. Keep up the great videos man!

If your going to swap engines in that truck . I would ls swap it thay have all the kits and doodads to bolt it right in . If you don't want to v8 that truck . Then I would 2jz for sure but keep in mind it will cost 3 times as much to accomplish that ... BUT A 2 JZ AT 1200 HP WILL BE LIGHT AND NIMBLE FAST AND BEAST.

I want to get the 6" bulge fenders and bedsides and a 3 inch lift so what wheel size and tire size specs would u recomend? and how much offset with the wheels for it to look good with the width of the fenders? im looking to get 35's tires but idk what specs those would be.
