This looks like a blast and it would be interesting to watch you develop your sniping skills. It looks so awesome to work in shorts and a t-shirt as up here the water is ice cold even in the summer. Next time, I think a pull cart with a cooler, mini grill and some brats would help warm up your and Riley’s bodies during breaks. PBRs are optional and at your discretion.
I think you need to capture all of that fine stuff you loosened on the bottom instead of sweeping it away. You’re probably looking at fines down there even when sniping so that small material is your target. Maybe use your suction thing with a long very thin, flat tip to get down into the cracks?
If you continue sniping, definitely get a wetsuit. You’re losing a lot of body heat which will make you tired. And who wants to end a day of sniping early because you’re tired/cold??? Do NOT get an expensive suit. You’re going to scratch it up and get holes very quickly. I use a product called Household Goop to protect the knees of my suits and my gloves. I apply it before I even use the suit, holes are that common. It comes in a pink-ish pkg at HD/Menards/etc. It dries quickly and stays flexible. So if you get a hole, apply the Goop, let it sit overnight and you’re good to go in the morning. Here in AK I use a hooded long sleeve 5mm suit (10mm on my torso). But I think you can get away with a 2mm shortie (short sleeve, thigh length legs) for the summer. If you’re doing this in spring/fall, go with a full body wetsuit.
As far as the mask, you need to find one that fits your face. If there are 10 masks on display, maybe 1-2 will fit your face. Maybe not. A good mask is well worth the price.
Next thing you know, you’ll buy an SSA setup (Surface Supplied Air, basically an air compressor floating on a mini tire tube and floats behind you)) so you can go deep to those deeper cracks!!

A few ideas JJ: Bring a heavy prying bar ( a big one) to break stuff loose, or spread bed rock cracks open. Then, get one of those flat vacuum cleaner ends to put on the end of your suction tool to get deep into cracks etc. We used that flat suction end on our Keene 3" dredge. Most of the bigger gold is in them bed rock cracks. Good luck son!!! 😊😊

A BIGGER CROW BAR...We always break up the surrounding rocks and a Keene suction hand dredge works real good....anything that bends or is not ridge will make your time a waste of time...Also, here in Calif we wait until later in the year so the water is VERY LOW...but real glad you are getting to do a different type of mining...oh! A weight belt is needed so you don't bounce up and down while you breath...lungs fill up and act like a life preserver...nice river shots...later

This chap is amazing no issues with getting down and dirty,,
Well my friend it was a success at least you found gold Yeha.
I noticed that pointed hook bar,Jason.
You could actually turn this into something special,,.
Okay 10mm / 15mm made in stainless steel round bar,,you could make three four sizes to suit exspiditions,
    I noticed a couple things?
    (1)
When you where scratching in the creek voids,,you where waving your hand a bit,,which possibly was sending gold particles down stream,,
With this i came up with the following maybe a sucker pipe connected into a container type,,as you scratch around this gets filtered into the container.
    (2)
I noticed you went underwater but how about those dry crevices around the creek beds above,,deposits could well be sat in those crevices, just to add gold as we know is hevey which brought a thought for those lower shallow mud ridges towardscthe bank sides.
Great video well done your a snorkel sniper at heat❤

Awe man! That 1st speck in sand looked so promising. After watching like Two-Toes and Pioneer Pauly sniping cracks, I thought those looked really promising. Did you suction the stuff you shifted to the right in that last crack and pan it? Looked like it should have given speck#2 at least. The only thing that made me go hmmm... is where were you? If Wisconsin, that flour gold likely won't hang onto anything there, you'd need a huge widening of the river so the gold would have a chance to drop. If out side Wisconsin, then whatever the gold there allows. Oh well, looked like you were figuring some stuff out. Thanks for taking us along!

      @FlourgoldWizards  Рік тому

We were definitely in Wisconsin, I agree ☝️ hundred percent with your point on wider /slower … i know there’s decent flour gold around but wasn’t sure where to look for anything bigger…. Someone suggested just downstream of where i was but its over my head mostly. I’ll try again may upstream aways where I believe it to be shallower but wider 😃🍻

A wetsuit will serve you well, they all use them. Good luck. Snipper & metal detector's Nora S & Michael O use a floating pump for air and Michael has a water jet on his arm to fan. You could check into that.

Sorry for my absence, but we've also gone sniping, only to end up crevicing because the river was almost dried out due to European heat! It looks like you had a great time sniping! Jason, you've always made me laugh, but I love your prospecting methods, but I miss dear old Rigby. Give him scrubbles behind the ears, and enjoy your wonderful beero. ~Wendi 🌻
