- I'm back with another off-road adventure! In my previous video, I put the Honda XR 150 to the test and asked the question, "Can the Honda XR handle off-road?" But today, we're taking things up a notch. As a new rider, I'm putting my skills to the test and taking on the BMW G650GS off-road.
This is a serious machine designed for riders who crave adventure and want to explore both on- and off-road terrain. This model of the BMW G650 GS was , produced between 2008 and 2016.
Today's video is all about a big question that's been on a lot of your minds: Can a new rider handle the power and weight of a medium-sized adventure motorcycle and take it on some rough terrain after a little practice on a light dual-purpose motorcycle like the Honda XR150L?
This is an important question that deserves an honest answer. As someone who's been in your shoes, I want to help you make an informed decision about whether or not you're ready to take on this type of motorcycle.

I am a long time street rider/tourer ... Sand is one of the hardest things to ride in for us..... it can almost instantly defeat a 400-500 lbs touring bike like a BMW with street tires and steering geometry. The G is doing surprisingly well. Falling is normal in that stuff with a heavy compromise dual sport. I am about to buy the G...having no dirt skills after 60 years riding.. I am glad to see this.
