  • More smexy Kurt Streit in his second act aria (preceded by the recitativo, "Unulfo, Garibaldo, in questo seno muor la speranza"), from the Glyndebourne production of Händel's "Rodelinda".
Apparently, the director had a thing for having his cast throw themselves on the ground.

    This is just amazing!!!
Rodelinda is a masterpiece from Handel's repertoire of great operas. OMG, It is so beautiful, so deeply touching...Kurt Streit does it so well, it is such a pleasure to see and listen to his voice....
Being a great fan of Handel's Operas, I think Rodelinda is on the top of my favorites, followed by Giulio Cesare.

+Joao Aurelio Beautiful Aria, isn't it. I would say Rodelinda is there with Tosca, Tristan and Cosi as the greatest example of its genre. Every number in this opera is sublime and the musical treatment of the dramatic argument is ingenious. If you have time, do a musical analysis and you would see the brilliance in which Handel uses harmonic motives to colour the text and support the dramatic progress of the character.

Definitely. To have heard Senesino sing those three "pathetic" arias throughout the opera and then burst into the some of the most difficult strings of coloratura in the end would have been heart-stopping. I also particularly like the tenor role... would have been nice to hear how the tenors might have sung in their day.
