Thank you. Just purchased a Sony HXR-MC2500 that I haven't used yet. Trying to learn as much as I can before it is delivered, as this will be my first video camera.
PERFECT video!!! I can’t understate the value of a perfect and simple introductory How-To. If you are just starting out or simply wanting to refresh your memory and get back to the fundamentals, this is it. Remember nothing else and you will still do quite well. This should get you well on your way to taking good quality video. Would love to see this guy do one on focusing. It might exist already. I’ll look.
Thank you so much for the information and insights which have opened a wider door for me. I enjoyed the clarity of what you conveyed and your relaxed unhurried style: the virtues of a great teacher!
Very helpful, thank you. I've always shot video either from a dedicated Canon camcorder, or through a function from one of my Nikon DSLRs. But I've started looking at Sony a bit lately, and this sort of support and how-to will be important to me in both ultimate decision and opening up my thinking to include the Sony brand.
Chuck, I really enjoyed your video and learned a lot of tips. I am wondering if it is preferable to shoot without fooling white balance and add effects in post. Why would it be preferable to shoot it with the effect? Thanks!
Hi I have a Sony HDV Z1 but firewire will not fit Mac Pro laptop. I have tried adaptors but yet to find one that fits. Any light you may shine on this issue would be greatly received?

hi. i am new to film making and gradually want to enhance technical skills. I am using DSLR at the moment. I wanted to know which cameras are generally used to film TV programs or dramas or series. Can DSLR be able to produce a film good enough for TV channel
aug 31, 2015, Well, the Sony FDR AX1E does not seem to have an clear RAW file mode for capturing the maximum color and picture details for processing it later for color grading, Could you please tell me which mode in this camera as best for color grading later in the Sony Vegas software? i just brought a Sony fdr ax1e,
I want the start as a camera man, but there's one question I can't get an answer to. What type of camcorder/camera do I need, do I need one that's the size of the ones behind u or will a good quality cannon camera be enough? It seems that all cameramen have those huge camcorders. Are they what I need???????
I have a Panasonic VXF11 camcorder using for Church live streaming. I am not able to get the subject sharper using the manual focus and the video is getting over exposed. Please help me some tips to get a clear video. Thanks in advance.
Hello How are u , I hope you are fine Please, I am a novice in the field of photography and I bought a Sony fs700 forrecording slow and I have some questions: 1.How can I adjust the purity of the screen when I work because when i switch to super slow motion becomes dark and grainy screen, what is the appropriate procedure for that? 2.What is the difference between shutter speed and fps and how setting it in slow motion? 3.important: Can I extract 960 frames per second on my laptop when recording in super slow motion? I want to get 960 single image per second and transform it into a laptop device, how I can do that? I hope help me give me any information about it as soon as possible, and you all thanks and appreciation Dear
Dear sir This was a great video. But U Seen Carefully This video Clip Time will be 4:32min to 4:35min your camera man Catch a One Object Like UFO Disk Shape Small object found in Down side CHARLES LA Board to NO Parking Board Mr Chuck This object is NO Airplane & No Helicopter NO Drone.
I think the best advice anyone can give is to just get out there and shoot. It's advice I did not want to hear when I first started out, and I skipped from forum to forum searching for that magical piece of information that would turn me into a pro overnight. As time went on (and as more and more projects were under my belt) I began to understand that these pros, ever-reluctant to recommend a specific camera or editing program, were right. I began to see a change in my style as well as my eye for filmmaking the more that I went out and completed new projects. I was learning from my mistakes, and that, put rather simply, is priceless. Did that documentary you shot last week leave all of your subjects with an orange hue? You just learned to check your white balance before the next project. Was everything too bright in that action-packed short film you made with some of your friends yesterday? Now you know to check the meter on your camera (and possibly use Zebras as well) to make sure your next film is properly exposed. There are plenty of reviews on cameras and lenses to help you find a good starting point (B&H Photography being one of my favorite places to research products), but the most important thing is to buy a camera and get out there! The more you trip on your front steps, the more likely you are to step a little higher next time. You will fall on your face (probably numerous times). Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and press record again. Good luck!
MarkMooseFilmmaking Very true Mark, you can't buy experience! I love learning new tricks and techniques. This is good advice in this video too! Cheers Gregg
+SLWassets Actually, I did do a few years as a best boy and electrician on the local scene here, all for nothing as you say! I also don't use a DSLR , I shot stills since I was 12 and did that for 20yrs till I discovered video about 15yrs ago. I now have a Sony HXR NX3 ,my first "Serious" camcorder with a Miller stick . I only shoot for my you-tube channel but wan't good results, but you do learn new tricks as you go, doesn't mean you're a "pro" but it all helps. Cheers Gregg.
