Aloha, from Hawaii 😎🤙🏾
Loved your content and appreciate the volleyball knowledge and information.
Happy New Year!!
Thanks for the kind words! Plenty more to come. Do me a favor and go to a couple games for me this year if you can! Happy New Year to you as well.
Volleyball fan here from Hawaii. Thank you for your content. Excited to watch the competition this year on the court.
Absolutely! More to come, an exciting year for men's volleyball.
Although a sophomore now, Tread Rosenthal is still the youngest (18 yrs.) player on the Hawai'i team, with the exception of Kainoa Wade, who left high school early to join the team. UH has a solid bench.
UH is really deep, but are they strong enough to compete with the two best teams is the question
I think Sean Kelly will play against cupcake opponents that UCLA will face. They will surely prepare him coz Cooper will graduate this year. The greatest news for UCLA is Ido David going back to his 2023 form. He was so inconsistent last season. People in Hawaii always show up for their men's volleyball team.
Kelly will definitely get time this year, it's too long of a season for any outside pair to play every match without burning out. Definitely a hot start for Ido, but I think the whole team looked particularly sharp from what I saw on tape. Exciting stuff for Bruins fans.
he might be like Rama in 2022 where he goes in when somebody is sucking
Couple things that I think could be important, according to Coach Wade, Finn Kearney is training nearly exclusively at the Outside. His time in the scrimmage was at OH2 as well
And for the UCLA lineup, Chun played serve receive, Aziz played defense. Aziz was a pretty big piece in the championship game last year so hoping he’s can steady out the position.
That's very interesting information! I was not aware Kearney was training for the Outside - also wasn't able to see the full match just the box score to know he played in the third set. That's a fascinating position for him as a career oppo. They must be dead set on Titriyski.
And I noticed Aziz was the defensive libero from the film after I recorded my video. I think he'll have a similar impact to last year. Chun in serve receive will be far more important factor in big games as a freshman going forward.
@ it’s all rumor/word of mouth stuff from this point, but Kearney has an older brother who’s 6’7, 6’8 or so and at a point I think the coaches were hoping he’d grow to the same height. (Closer to the range of a pro opposite)
People have said at 6’4, 6’5 where he is he’ll need to be able to play on the left for a stronger pro career and so Hawaii is helping him make that move.
Similar to how they played last year with Knight playing serve receive and Aziz playing defense
I am really surprised and pleased by Hawaii’s first year hitters.
Lots of talent from the freshmen.
Kurt Nusterer is a R-Jr so he’s got some good experience. Big year coming up for him.
That's right, Nusterer is one of the more experienced guys on the team, I think he'll be big for them down the stretch.
Very very excited for Sean
He is going to be a stud.
Hitters have no prob for UH its gonna be up to choy and Thred if they don't choke against nikolov. Gosh kudos to Mr Wade for having an amazing scouting team. Vamos UH 🎉❤
Should be a fun year to watch the rainbow warriors per usual!
It’s gonna be an exciting game, Hawaii vs UCLA. The Hawaii team is a very young team.
Unfortunately, they are not scheduled to play one another this year because they are in the MPSF and Big West, and have full schedules. But hopefully they collide in the NCAA tournament.
I think UCLA’s biggest challenge will be consistent back row passing keeping them in system. Losing Alex Knight and Ethan Champlin really hurts in that regard. Not too impressed with the liberos yet but hopefully they can mature throughout the season.
serve receive is important no matter which team you are. We'll see how these guys perform.
Go Bows!
Big year for the Bows this year!
Mcquiggan has been in street clothes for a few weeks now but it’s a surprise MWD didn’t play
It's been like that for UCLA with their MB2. Last season, they alternated Mcquiggan and Genis in that position.
I expected McQuiggan to get good time at that position this year (if he returns to health), not sure if he's injured or as to why he is out.
Yea i saw footage of MWD playing in other matches but I strongly believe matthew edward's is better and more so starter material
sad to see Sean Mcquiggan who seemed to be injured. He didn't wear a jersey and was in pants and a polo, setting the guys in between sets. He definitely would've been the MH2 if he was healthy
I think he'll play this season once he gets healthy.
Charlie Wade's son, Kainoa, is also playing for UH right? I heard he's a big hitter as well.
yes, he's a 6'10 and an opposite. Was a great high school player and expect him to get some action this year too if he doesn't redshirt.
you should check out some more east coast teams, or at least kids from east coast playing d1 on the west coast, like Tim Ennis from new jersey
Any teams on the east coast in particular? I will be covering a lot of George Mason this year. But any teams of particular interest?
@@mitchsterkenburg Def teams like princeton, penn state, and some smaller ones like NJIT, FDU, and even like SFU
Great video, are there any links to the Hawaii game? Hawaiis recruitment has been great, but I’d be a bit pissed if I was a redshirt or junior etc player and literally all the open slots went to new faces - really unusual as Hawaii usually seems to bring people through eg Todd, Thiim. Feel for Louis, Thought he may have pushed for the oppo/oh2 slot but his inconsistency let him down.
If you search Hawaii vs. British Colombia Men's Volleyball you should be able to find the highlights, not sure if the full game is available anywhere.
This is unfortunately the tough reality of Division I Volleyball, with so few teams at the top, you have to start the best 6/7 guys that are going to get the job done. While Roure and Wieter are starting now, I think Louis, and some of the other guys will get their moments this year to show why they belong. But it's interesting how this Hawaii team has several freshman starting again.
Based on how Keoni played against OSU, seems like he would have fit in well at OH1 or 2.
Where is the HAW-BC video footage?
I think he fits in well with BYU because they have different expectations that UH. He's had a good start to the season so far, and I think you can make the argument he would play for UH this year. But I think a fresh start for Thiim was the right move to let him be the player he is.
No Louis?
Roure and Wieter appear to be a bit too consistent in reception. I think Louis will get some time this year sparingly but looks like they are the starters for now.
Can someone tell me what happened to Chaz Galloway please?
He graduated
correct.
