It's because of the making a mountain of a molehill starting about a decade ago & everyone spoke it into existence with the 2 extremists (left wing & right wing) pushing for it. Transsexuals have been going to their designated bathrooms before we were even born you can find interviews from the 20th century of April Ashley (may she rip) talking about it. So from the 20th century til modern times there was no such individual ever who had pretended to be trans to go into bathrooms to committ a crime its only in recent years so transsexuals using their designated bathroom wasn't the issue it was the politicisation of a niche topic that should have just been left alone.

Cis = prefix meaning on the same side. Cis gender = gender identity that correlates with the gender assigned at birth.

Therefore in this context it is wrong to use the word "straight" because they're not talking about sexuality but gender identity. It leads to an inaccurate portrayal of the subjects in the discussion, I would assume this is because of a limited understanding and awareness of the terms "straight and "cis". If the knew what the terms actually stod for, it would have been a marvelous opportunity to inform the "straight, cis" population about the correct terminology. Choosing the wrong words in the wrong context (per definition in the English dictionary) despite knowing the definition of the terms, is in my opinion wrong and willfully ignorant. If you didn't know the meaning of the terms I apologize. Now if you can be so kind and explain to me what you mean by: "How is it that some people can use whatever word they choose to define themselves, but other people cannot?" PS.
