- Hey y’all, so I’ve bleached my hair a few times and the orange has been an issue every time. Here are some ways to fix brassy yellow and orange hair for cheap! All I used was a cheap conditioner and semi permanent dyes. Arctic fox “purple rain” and “blue jean baby”.
Get it here!

Thank u, finally orange hair help from bleaching dark hair.. was tired of seeing yellow tones from brown hair.
I have been trying to get the orange out of my hair for over a year and this is the only thing that actually worked. Thank you so much!
Girl you saved me!!! I had orange hair and saw this went to buy some blue dye and now my hair is a beautiful light honey brown!! I love it! Thank you sooooo much for sharing!!!!
That's awesome! I'm so glad I could help :)
which dye?
garnier nutrisse indigo , then I bought Matrix blue shampoo ☺️
@@anniepark5969 did you mix the shampoo in or did you shampoo your hair with the blue shampoo while washing off the dye?
Thank you so much, just saved me an expensive trip to the hairdresser to fix my brassy roots. Bought at $7 blue hair dye and now my hair is back to my natural colour and blends evenly 🥰
This looks gorgeous!! I removed dark brown from my hair and have an orange base now. I’m definitely giving this a try. Thank you so much.
manic panic ultra violet worked quickly for me!
Y’all don’t sleep on method #2 if your hair is between level 6-8 ish. I did it and now it’s the ashy color I wanted! I wish I did this before bleaching and then coloring over with a semi permenant dye... but it helped so much! Thanks for the recommendation! Blue jean baby is a lifesaver and the bottle of arctic fox will last years!
What do you mean by using the word "sleep"? I didnt get it :). If im lvl 6-8 should i use the method 2
@@funnycat123t yes me too I don't understand what @MonicaLovesPugs meant
@@funnycat123t it’s a phrase, it means don’t like ignore that method
Try leaving it on for less time if your hair is more damaged/processed to avoid over coloring it. Her hair looks relatively healthy that’s why it took longer for her strands to grasp the color
your comment saved me...I had blue semi perm dye mixed with conditioner on my bleached level 7/8 hair and it turned blue SO FAST, under 7 minutes. Once I saw this comment I immediately went and washed it out. Still blue, but it would've been 10x worse if I left it on longer, so thanks
@@ariacarlson7444 your comment helped me alot thank you xxxxxx
@@ariacarlson7444 you think 5 mintues are enough ?
I am wondering the same. How long should we wait?
@@ssfmen depends on the level of damage/how healthy your hair is. I would say less than 5 minutes for really damaged hair. For relatively healthy hair maybe 10 minutes. If it doesn’t grasp then do it again for another ten minutes. You save yourself a lot o time an trouble by approaching with caution instead of ending up with blue hair or muddy grey hair
Thank you so much! I had built up red and black dye and used color remover. It lightened my hair including the roots and my hair was soooooo orange brassy and this definitely took most of the orange out. Thanks again
How did you apply it?
I have red and dyed my hair black twice after the red I’m hoping the color remover will work which color remover did you use? I’m going to try her method once I get my hair orange
this is very smart! ur hair looks beautiful
I just came out of the hairdresser and gurl I am as orange as you were… I think this method is for meeeee! Thank you for this very instructive video, you are saving my hair !
Did you try? What were your results
Just bought blue jean baby! Can’t wait to try it out!
Did it worked
Absolutely amazing!! Thank you so much for the hair tips. This is exactly what I needed!! 🙌💙
Thank you so much getting so many compliments on hair today did this at midnight lastnight so appreciate you. I just grabbed a blue at 24 Hour Walgreens to get it done Garnier Nutrisse Indigo and the cheapest conditioner I could find. Worked out Great!!
How much dye and for how long. I don't want blue hair
I love your hair!
Cool I have blue dye already and conditioner but when I used it before my hair turned blue and that’s not what I want but now I will mix with conditioner and leave on less time 👌🏻🤞🏻
This worked really well even on my one time bleached originally soft black hair.
hi my hair is also naturally black and bleached once, did this really help you get the orange tones out and which method did you use??
@q Yes, my orange tone got out. I used blue jean arctic fox and conditioner mixed. My ends are mutiple times bleached, so I just left 5-10 mins. Good luck!
Wonderful video, thank you!
Omg a salon charged me $400 to look like an Orangutan, lol. Luckily, my friend who is a stylist fixed it for me, but I feel you!
Omg an Orangutan!! Lol I’m glad you were able to fix it, some salons be charging crazy prices and it’s hard to find someone to trust in doing our hair
jazzyfab18 Exactly! 🙂
Today, stylist did Ombre to my black hair. I look like BoZo! Did you try this method to tone your hair?
Omggg same here an arm and a leg and that's exactly how it looks
I went to same nightmare 😭 expensive and painful burning scalp 😖
Girl you saved my life 🙌🏼 thank you lol
How long does it stay on your hair ? Is it permanent ?
super pretty
Thank you so much for sharing
Oh my gosh I luv ur make up. Hair is beautiful as well.
💕💕💕
Im trying to find way to tone my hair without using toners and demi / perm hair dyes as im allergic. But im not allergic to semi direct dyes so will give this a go.
This is great thanks for sharing. I might look at doing hair repair on my channel xx
please do! @LaurenHowarth
Your vid gave me a life saver help xxx
Will this work on bright orange hair ? Right now my hair is orange with a bit or red hints
I did this as well with the same brand and color because lets face it, those blue shampoo/conditioners are crazy expensive. Now we need to figure out a dupe for the color refresh conditioner masks for brunettes like overtone or morrocianoil color mask in cocoa! 💞
Definitely! The costs add up. I'm open to discovering cheaper options that work just as well! I'll let y'all know when I find my new favs.
Thank you so much!
So I could use green for red tones
All I can say is thank you beautiful. 😃
Did those blue and purple color contain bleaching materials??
ugh luv her
Very beautiful
Thank you ❤️
Lmaooo!! Ok I did method #2 and some parts of my hair turned freakin green loool. And the darker parts black. Good luck y’all. I’m going to a professional. Oh btw my hair was originally black. I bleached it to be able to lift the color to a level 5. I wanted an ashy brown natural looking color. That’s close to my natural hair color but it came out a bit brassy reddish and it just needed to be toned to that nice ash . I’m no professional so I did this method 2 and yikes haha yeah I’m not messing with my hair ever again.
Sounds like there was too much yellow in your hair. Blue and yellow make green. I'm thinking the method one helped her when she applied method two. P.s. green tones can be knocked out by pink
@@tarrytwocents Nah there's some direct dyes in blue and purple that oxidize green. That's why I stopped using them to tone my hair like this method. Imagine my horror. It turned green in the bowl and on the hair. But it's easily taken off with some bleach powder and conditioner/shampoo. I think it was either Directions or Manic Panic.
I just try to remember the opposite of orange is blue, and the opposite of yellow is purple. Hope this helps. XO
Omg you're so gorgeous 😍💖
Did the blue dye come with a color developer or was it an all in one ready to use bottled color? Tnx
Thanks!!
This turned out great! Did you use this at the roots on your virgin hair? What does this do to the natural dark brown does it give a blue hue to it? My daughter doesn’t have grown out roots but the brassy is mixed all in with her natural brown hair when she tried a box dye. I’m afraid it will turn her natural brown hair blue (the parts that her box dye job missed). Thank you! btw you are gorgeous :)
I did get some dye on my dark natural hair and it didn’t turn blue. If you leave it in the hair for too long it can give a slight blue tint in the sunlight but luckily it washes away! Also, thank you! 💛💛
Hi omg I love how your hair turned out! You and your hair are beautiful! Could you please share again what to do after?
Rinse it out after 5-10 or up to 30 minutes, then shampoo then conditioner with blue dye?
Do you add the blue every time you condition?
Do you recommend a blue shampoo?
You are gorgeous and a genius!
Thank you!
Can this work for fading to sun oxidation ?
I put manic panic wildfire red in my daughters natural blonde hair... Its been 3 months and it will not come out. Its orangy now. I may try this.
Does it fade or is it permanent?
Great video. What color and brand is your lipstick? Luv it!
What happens if you dye your red orange hair blue directly without mixing it with conditioner??
Hi i have my hair like orange what can i use to remove it i want like a light brown color??
How long did this last ?
I went to a salon asked for a balayage I came out looking crazy orange/brassy/red & they even toned it I spent over $280 I went to Sally’s spent $40 & fixed it myself & I’m not a specialist
Lol I ended up dying it blue black by accident 😂 damn
My hair is naturally basically black, I bleached it and it’s now a dark brassy orange, to tone it I used Wella T18, didn’t ash it at all, so they recommended T14, still nothing, so I used Poseidon Arctic Fox and it turned green! Blaaaah
WellaT24 there’s a video on Wella toners by this lady
UrManeAve_Tv
How often should this be done ?? And did you also put developer in the mix ??
No developer! Also, I have done this twice. The first time I was cautious and only left the mixture on about 10 minutes but it didn’t have as much of an impact on my hair as I wanted. I just did it again on my last wash day and left it in for an hour. It did a great 👍 job!
@@Star-dj1kw yup it worked
Omg my hair is so orange tonight, tomorrow I’m buying those products and try to see if I can fix the problem
Did it work?
Update?
Will the blue dye color my roots tho?
Did u use semi permanent hair dye
I don't have arctic fox here. Is it ok to just use other brand for the blue dye?
I havent tried other brands so I’m not sure but I heard that manic panic works as well!
How long does this last for/how often do you have to do this?
I did it once a month to keep the color consistent, it fades a bit with each wash since it’s not a permanent dye but it could last for up to 2 months if you avoid washing your hair too often
My hair is brassy orange all over due to over highlighting, so i'm going to try this tomorrow. Does any hair dye works or should I go for some specific dye coz we don't get that variety from where I am?
I would make sure it’s a semi-permanent blue dye and only leave it on for 5-10 minutes! Maybe do a test strand to be safe? I hope it goes well! :)
@@Jasmeen.veleez I did it actually and thank god the brassiness is gone. My hair is really damaged and I was not unhappy with my hair, I was finding ways to change the orange tones without further damaging my hair and your video saved me. Thank you so much
Thk u for this...I just need to know do u put the dye without developer into mix with conditioner and also do I have to shampoo before applying..thks I advance
Yup no developer needed! Just the conditioner and the dye mixed together. And you don’t have to as long as you leave it in for about 10-15 mins and wash it out after. But personally I would shampoo first while I’m at it too avoid washing my hair too often. :)
Did she do both methods to get to her colour? Shall I do both or just one
I did use both! However, the blue Jean baby color worked better for my hair since my hair was more of a dark orange color. (Purple works better to cancel yellow)
how much would you say the ratio is between dye and conditioner for your type of hair
I would say it was about half conditioner and half dye, so an equal 1:1 ratio. The more conditioner you use the more diluted the formula will be. So if you want it to be stronger use more of the dye than conditioner. I hope that helps !
@@Jasmeen.veleezthanks! 😊
trying this because my hair can't take being washed with blue shampoo again lol. it's dry af. but y'all just fyi, blue shampoo exists and it's bomb!
Use a blue conditioner instead. Fanola and Matrix make blue shampoo and conditioners. Just use a clarifying shampoo if you’re trying to get rid of any buildup or previous semi permanent colors and then condition with a blue conditioner and leave it on like a mask until you’re toned to your liking and rinse. I stopped using blue shampoo because it was pointless and drying and I got better results using blue conditioner instead
if you use semi permanent dye to tone it does the color stay permanently? so it won’t go back to orange?
alohhaapele ! It does go back to orange over time unfortunately :( but it is a good temporary solution
Toning is 5he least damaging if you can do it successfully
If my hair is more reddish orange what would I do
Use like a turquoise
Have you ever used manic panic?
I tend to see a lot of people use the manic panic ultra violet, but it was a 50/50 on everyone. I personally used Wella semi - permanent blue hair dye and it worked amazing I did not have to leave it for 15 min in just 3-5 min it worked fast by averting my brassy orange hair to a subtle ashy color. So I’m guessing any semi - permanent dye works just as long as it’s semi - permanent.
@@Jess-cg2sd does it look like a tall and skin packaging? I typed it in and a lot of results popped ip
Does this work for hair that was dyed orange? (Semi permanent dye)
Should work once the semi permanent dye fades enough to where It won't bleed in the shower anymore, then apply the blue!
My hair is dark level five it’s orange do I do the second method on dry hair or wet?
Definitely use blue jean baby with conditioner. You can do it on either dry or wet hair!
@@Jasmeen.veleez I don’t have access to that in Europe. :(
You can use blue hair dye with conditioner too
Can I use purple af instead of purple rain?
It is a bit brighter so I would be careful! Do a test strand to be safe 🫶 purple rain was my go-to and I never tried purple af so I am not sure 🤔
What ratio of paint to conditioner do you use?
I'm interested in this
Your hair is beyond gorgeous 💕. I love the color result. I also LOVE your eyeshadow. What brand and color are you wearing in this video if you don't mind revealing. Yeah, I really messed up my hair. I hope mine turns out as beautiful as yours. 🌸💮🌸 I subscribed to your channel 💮💮💮 And you are really, really pretty 🧚🧚🧚
Thank you so much!! I used the Anastasia Modern Renaissance palette for my eyeshadow and the Maybelline superstay matte ink in the color "amazonian" for my lips :)
Do I have to do it everyday or??
I know this comment is old so you probably know but just in case no you just do it when you notice it fading
My hair looks just like yours did . How long did you leave the blue jean hair dye for??
I’m afraid my hair going to turn blue
I left the dye in my hair for about 10 minutes! It shouldn’t dye your hair blue but to be safe I wouldn’t leave it in my hair for more than 20 minutes 👍🏼
jazzyfab18 thanks for the advice..I’m here patiently waiting for the blue jean hair dye to arrive in the mail !
is it hair conditioner you used? or the box dye solution? i am sitting here with orange hair🤭
its hair conditioner, you could use any as long as its white so it doesn't mess with the color mix :)
Try mixing blue and green
What's that do
those 2 colors are the opposite of reddish orange
What’s the lip color???? I came here for that! 😍
It's the Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink liquid lipstick in the color "Amazonian"!
Thank you! 😘
Is your hair orangey hair bleached or u just colored it?
It turned out orange from bleaching it myself
My hair is orange and I have plans to leave in like 2 hours 😭😂 ahaha
lol i have prom tomorrow
i recently bleached my dark brown hair and it’s gone orange but i would love to go ashy/light blonde it’s now ginger with white roots if i add a wella toner will that cover all the orange hair and make it look blonder i do love the orange hair but i would love to go blonde!!! has anyone got any advice for me?xxx thanks in advance
hi i’m in the same situation!! what did u end up doing?
@@quynhuu I ended up buying a highlighting cap and blue shampoo and doing highlights a couple times and it ended up been a lovely white colour but I’ve dyed it back brown now xx
@@milliemayx3606 alright, thank you for the fast response!!
@@quynhuu no worries I was asking people back then but I had no response so I replied now before I forget x
Learning hair diy is to confusing why do we use purple toner silver toner ,getting super confuse
Purple cancels yellow. Blue cancels orange, silver is lighter blue for very light blonde, green cancels red tones in dark brunettes.
@@kgty1295 blue cancel orange shade I have lightish orange shade in my hair so I need to use blue shampoo
Why didn’t it dye your hair blue or purple?
for school the blue cancels out the orange bc they’re opposites on the color wheel, so that’s why the result is a more neutral light brown. she also diluted the color with a lot of conditioner.
Did anyone do this and have their hair go blue??
guys, if your hair is orange, just use the blue dye. there is absolutely no point to using purple dye (which contains red pigments)
Agreed, purple works best for yellow/ brassy hair!
@@Jasmeen.veleez what if you have abit of both??😳😩😩
@@jasmint6142 If you have orange/yellowy hair you can mix the Blue Jean Baby and Purple Wrath 50/50 and dilute it with some conditioner in the mix! Just remember to leave it on for only 10-15 minutes or do a test strand!
Um hair is green someone help
lmao
Use red dye
Girl my hair turned green 😭😭😭
WAIT ACTUALLY WHY?
What color is your natural hair?
Nooo :'(
But your hair still had red and orange tones after you were done
It came a long way from the beginning she could have done more if she wanted too but the end still looked good
I didn’t see any difference
Umm I tried this method & turned my hair frkn blue 🤦🏻♀️.
Sitting here after bleaching my hair at 2am lmfao thanks 😅❤️
I am so afraid that my hair would literally turn BLUE
The lighter you're hair is the more easily it can turn blue. How did it go?
@@Jasmeen.veleez I didn’t do it … I am just using blue conditioner for now
You shouldn't have mixed them, because you've basically just put purple hair dye on your head
My main question is I was wondering if I should put the blue dye in the shampoo too ? My hair is very much like a strawberry light blonde and I want to take out that orange tone, so should I do both shampoo and conditioner with the blue dye in it ?
Also my hair is MUCH lighter than in the video im like a level 7-8 with a yellow orange tone
