So happy to see you try it and refer to my video :) I find this to work best with gel-like shampoo consistency with sls. And since your hair is dark you can use more of the dye with the developer ;)
This really works so I hope you’ll try it again. I pulled a lot of orange too so I used 3tsp of dye and 3 tsp of developer. Used about a full cup of conditioner and mixed well. Took about 15 mins to apply to all roots first making sure to comb throughout for even application, then spread the rest on the rest of the head and combed through again. Left it on for about 6mins afterwards and then rinsed, shampoo, and conditioned. Then blew dry so I could see the final result. Total time from start to finish with the 6 mins of additional wait time added was 20 mins. I have long hair and tried to go as fast as possible. Was worried it was sitting too long but it was fine. The color was perfect! Nice cool toned dark brown balayage with gold peaking through. I did this on dry hair so I could apply more evenly and see exactly what I needed to tone which I think helped with my final result along with a comb through. One thing I would do next time is use more conditioner. 1 1/2 cups to 2 cups is good for long hair. Hope this helps! Update: I’ve done this a few more times and the longest I let it sit was 40 mins and it was still fine. I think the more brass, the longer you should let it sit.
The warm color looks good on you. I know you wanted it to be cooler but you’ve got that ideal lovely skin that can pull off any hair color
Thanks! I was also thinking that I like warm tones more. as soon as I dyed it cooler I was like....I kind of hate it? 😂
The darker your hair, the more blue black dye you should use. Your hair is still very dark so more dye would make more of a difference. I would also use at least double the amount you did and stress less about washing it out instantly since your hair is so dark. I also didn't see you add developer to the mix, that would make a big difference! Also use sulfate shampoo as sulfate free doesn't work well.
You're right, but I thought I'd rather err on the side of caution, see how a little bit does and I can always add more. Since I got a patch of grey (I couldn't really capture it in the video, sorry!) I can imagine how it would do 😆 really my biggest mistake was not making enough. Idk what I was thinking, especially on dry hair.
Have you tried this method?
@@ebonyonce haha yeah I've done it, I was pretty lazy though. I just chucked a bunch of blue black dye into my regular shampoo and used it every time I washed my hair. Helped a lot and it's easier to distribute on wet hair, but less effective so you win some and lose some. I have brownish/ginger hair from red washing out and it turned it nice and ashy. I just watched the vid out of curiosity but it was entertaining 🤣❤️
@Jade 0955 maybe I'll try it on wet hair...I was wondering if it works better. Really I think what I discovered is that I don't think I like how it looks when it's toned 😅
Glad you liked the video though! ❤️
I’m about to do this, I dyed my hair a caramel blonde and well it’s yellow, white ish and brassy orange 🙄 so I tried super dark shampoo and it toned it a little. I tried blue food coloring and apple cider vinegar like coloring an Easter egg and it helped a little 🤏 so now I’m here, blue black dye from garnier... I’m nervous tho but this time I have some back up hair dye if this fails which most of my adventures do lol but yes I didn’t see you use developer which makes it well, develop the color and makes it permanent lol i guess I’ll be back to report how my experience goes 🤞
@@ms.rolltide256 I used developer it was just a weird looking bottle. Good luck!!! I'm sure it will come out better than mine
You have to mix the dye with the developer in equal amounts and WAIT for the color to develop. You only add the shampoo after a few minutes, mix and apply on wet hair. Also, use more dye next time. Good luck!
Wet hair. Also reds need green. Use 3 squeezes of the blue and leave for 4-5 minutes on wet hair. Then rinse…
Looks great
Had me cracking up 😂👍🏽
You are so artistic 😍 💖
OMG LISTENING TO YOU TALK IS SO CUTE 😆😆😆 USE MORE COLOR & SHAMPOO NEXT TIME ☺️ GOOD LUCK 🍀🍀🍀
Pretty sure ur supposed ro use wet like actually wash it
Some people do on wet but the video I watched she said if you do it on dry it's easier to see the color. But it's probably easier to do it on wet hair.
Try blue shampoo. John frieda makes a good one.
thanks! i'll try to keep an eye out for it. but maybe i've given up on cool toned hair 😬
I don’t think you put enough dye in
Possibly. But the video I was following she used SO little
@@ebonyonce you are right lol..... I tried it the other night and now parts of my hair are green
@@bayleedm4336 ahhh I'm so sorry! that sucks! Hopefully not too noticeable?
@@ebonyonce what color do you want? Regular brown?
@@TracyD2 i don't even know lol. i don't remember it was a while ago, but mostly i think i wanted to try the method out? i think i wanted it to be less yellow
No developer???
0:50 that's my developer
