Nice to see the interaction between your both, showing the love for each other. Nice to see how you support each other
Today I started up with the Tandem T:Slim X2 control IQ and Dexcom G6 so from today I can share the data also with wife and kids ;-) I believe that can help both in several situations!
Very curious how this will turn out. I hope to have better time in range then now (82%), about the same HbA1C then now (was 6% today) and losing weight because of less need to take sugger to avoid lows (95 kg now is too much).

Such a great questions! Especially the last question made me realized how important to know the cultural differences. I have been type 1 for 20 years and born and raised in Japan but now I'm living in the states. Defiantly living with T1D in Japan is WAY harder and had so many bad experiences, but as you said, it is for sure nothing wrong with me. I still sometimes struggle to think that way but I could really reassure myself from your answers. Thank you

Thanks David and Andrea for this great video 🌸
Just want to ask you about the reference of the information you talked about in 4:45, if you can share the link with us please 😊
For the person who asked about “T1D being seen as a disease”, really it is an annoying thing and lots of us suffer from the same thing, they see this because they just see the un-controlled T1Ds and listen to the media and news that shows T1D as a disease affects all the life of the person, yes it does but not that way the others imagine.
So, I guess that its our role to educate them and try to correct the false information they got about us ❤️

I hear you!! Sometimes it’s just so difficult to convey the importance without them seeing something really awful happen, like maybe passing out from a low, etc. People tend to have a hard time recognizing the seriousness of something when they’re now in the same feelings as us, I find. And so is the difficultly of an invisible disease! But hey! I see you my friend!! And we will continue to make this condition more visible to all!!! So we can all better understand one another and get the help we need 💙💙💙

    Andrea and David Hello!
Recently starting following you and I certainly appreciate everything you have to say on this subject.
Been Diabetic for 56 yrs so I’ve been where you are many times. I m not quiet sure what pump your on right now. Just need to share with you that Medtronic has a pump 780g which is absolutely amazing. You will not need finger sticks and the pump itself Auto Corrects by itself. Therefore you will not have to worry about highs and lows like you have been doing. The alarms will let you know while in Manual Mode if your going high or low.
I actually worry a lot about you simply because I’ve been there myself before I got the pump with alarms. You are so lucky to have David who appears to be a wonderful human being.
I have 2 children while being diabetic and no problems. Most importantly keep your Blood Sugars under control and you will be fine. Neither one of my children are Diabetics thank goodness. So please research the Medtronic 780G pump. It’s also out in the UK. God bless you both!!!

It would be interesting to see glucose levels of a nondiabetic. From what I have heard is that blood glucose will spike after a high sugar/carb meal but returns to a normal range in a short time. But I've never seen any actual numbers. Good comment.

Great video as always Andrea! You and David are adorable together and he appears to be getting more comfortable in front of the camera. 😉 Question -Has David ever identified you as having a low sugar before you realized you were dropping? I've had friends ask me if my sugar was okay because they could tell I was behaving "loopier" 🤪 than normal. LOL This, of course, was before I got my CGM. Now Dexcom gives me the alert!

    • @dwightl5863
      @dwightl5863 2 роки тому +1

I would hear that from my wife very frequently. In fact she could tell me where my glucose numbers were before I even checked it and be 5 points either way and often spot on. Along those same lines she would often sporadically find where I am "just to say hi" but in reality she was making sure I was doing OK. Now with Dexcom she can now get a good nights sleep and I don't get the "just to say hi" visit because I share my readings on her phone. Totally recommend the sharing option.

My (very much) ex was very controlling and would actually use my diabetes threaten me; I remember him being mad at me if I was low, constantly asking if my CGM was making my phone go off, not believing me when answering his questions then threatening to drag me to my endo to ask the same questions 🤦‍♀️ he came to two of my appointments, one of which I didn’t want him there at all.
I’m very much like you in that I’m independent but also like to be open if people close to me or I trust want to know more, unfortunately my experience with this person has made me much more guarded
I wish there were more people like you guys out there who are understanding

    • @ShesDiabetic

Peter....all I can say is that I am so so SO sorry you went through that. I can empathize because I was in a relationship like this myself. I was blamed and shamed for things that were out of my control and ultimately put on a 'diet' because my (also very much) ex saw my diabetes as a problem that needed to be fix. This is AWFUL and completely unacceptable. Please please please please please just know this is not acceptable! But for certain you already know that this is the. Also, there are so many other people out there are kind, empathetic, understanding, supportive and can and will offer you an incredible amount of support and love because of the human you are - and because of your diabetes even - not in spite of it!!! I just really thank you for sharing what you did here, and am sure this will help other people feel less alone. The highs and the lows (ho ho no pun intended) are very important to share and I thank you for being so vulnerable and know that you had a bad experience and it's completely understandable to be guarded moving forward but also there is another way and you will have it all - love and understanding coming your way my friend!!! 💙💙💙

Hi can i give some vaulable info for type 1 diabetics that i ve just learned.its simple its test your blood sugar 10/15 minute into peak of insulin after youve eatingva mean meal.if your 10 12 higher go for a brisk walk for 10 minutes test your blood see what youve came down by an you will have came do.if your 17 20 i recommend not a brisk walk a long walk at normal pace an walk for half hour before testing.bssically walking an hour 10minute after a meal will bring your sugar down or when ever your high.will bring your sugar doen rather than taking insulin an over lapping which is dangerous.but as with everthing diabetic related.the meal after exercise you may have to reduce by 2 units.just saying walking when high is the quickest way to get blood sugar down.i find my raises by 1.0 after walk due to adrealine but its great just test blood after 10 minute after walking an monitor it an see your own blood sugar level.walk at normal pace if very high test 2omin after working so sugar at 15/20 but at 10 a brisk ten minute walk gets me to 6.8 approx.hope this helps people alot.

The more you know about diabetes, the easier it will be to understand situations and knowing how to react on it. You surely need to know what to do in case of low sugar and when she have a CGM how you easy have access to the data. You need to try understand KH counting and be aware that when taking more KH it result in more need to insuline too. You reference to DKA. When she have that regular then it would be important that she is aware from the risks of those situations and then you have to find ways that motivate here to count carbs and take insuline when she take them. To motivate to eat more healthy. It is something that is very different from person to person. Some persons are more to DKA also to be afraid to have to much lows. then it can interesting for you and her to discuss the treatment with her doctor and inform if a insulin pump with CGM in a hybrid close loop system. That system try to avoid hypo's and also to high sugar values and give alarms when sugar will becoming to low or to high with as result that serious hypo's or DKA are really very exceptional. When doing that good, it is possible to have values close to those who have no diabetes.

This is so so so difficult for me to give you advice on. I’m so sorry you feel that your husband isn’t taking his T2 seriously, that’s probably very frustrating and worrying for you. I think we’re all different. I personally am very stubborn and really need to come to things in my own time and on my own terms, but that’s just me. You probably know your husband better than anyone else. I think communication and gentle support seems to be universally a good place to start. Filter everything you ask and talk to him about through your love and understanding of him, that’s the best advice I can give, I’m sorry to not have something more concrete 💙
