  • Are your assumptions about me right? Watch to find out...◉ Subscribe: goo.gl/ZfjYfu
I've been keen to do this "Assumption about Me" Tag for a while, so as to make sure you don't think I'm something that I'm not! I think often times, on the internet, and perhaps especially when living with a chronic condition we can look outside ourselves and think everyone else is doing better than us, stronger than us, just simply has it all together...
It could not be more important for me to debunk any of these assumptions about myself. This is a community for kindness, compassion, joy, and REALNESS...
This is your reminder today to know that what you see on the internet does not always spark a true thought. Have kindness with yourself and patience and remember...we're all on our own journeys and we're doing the best we can. One step at a time.
Come as you are, wherever you are on your journey...you are WELCOME HERE 💙

Most you said, exactly same for me.... including the changing of the finger prick needle: I typically change it when it doesn't prick any more, and I've a box of about 100 spare needles left: I'll likely never run out of them.

I’ve binged a lot of your videos over the last few weeks and I cannot tell you how very refreshing it is to watch and listen to someone who always attempts to put a positive message on a very difficult condition to live with. However, you don’t sugar coat it and also show the vulnerabilities you suffer too.
I also admire your humility as I was sure I recognised you from somewhere else. You don’t talk about that and just focus in on how you deal from a positive point of view on a condition that requires so much effort from the patient. You concentrate on what you do have in life rather than what you don’t. A great mantra to live by.
I will be recommending your videos to my Diabetic clinic because if I was new to Diabetes, this is the kind of positives I would want to watch.

Then there are always the people who can't deal with that the person happens to be gifted with a beauty that not even UA-cam is capable of rendering.

So true about the battle , we can never take a holiday from it ( do wish). And when our good technology plays up that is an extra stess. My freestyle Libre 1 told me I was 17.1, and then 21 mmol/L. I freaked out, blood test confirmed it really was 8.5.
Good news, Abbott are sending me a new sensor, and it will be freestyle 2 so they have arrived in Australia yah.
Also thankyou for recording your reading in mmol/L , makes more sense to me. Congratulations going for your British citizenship, my father was from the Midlands came to Australia as a Royal Marine during the war, and met my Mum here , so Britain has a special place in my heart.

Hi Andrea Maybe it is just me but I tend not to make assumptions about anyone least of all someone with an online presence. Also you asked me to let you know how the Medtronic 770G pump was going. I have now had it on for 4 weeks and have had it in Auto mode for a little over a week and the difference auto mode has made is amazing. I am still learning like everyone. Yes there have been a few minor issues which are now sorted. I also have needed to make very minor teaks to my dosage rates but considering where I was on MDI. There is no comparison. I am improve control the longer I spend on the pump.Yes it is a pain needed to calibrate the sensor either for calibration or to keep it in auto mode but I am now in a routine and it now very rarely disturbs my sleep. No hypos overnight either which I am over the moon about. Keep up the wonderful videos on the channel I have learned a great deal as a newbie T1 Bruce AKA Mature Diabetic

I know what you mean - but at the same time I feel like it’s just people’s way of letting us know how extraordinary they think what we do is, from their perspective, which is very nice when you think about it - but at the same time when people say to me “they could never inject themselves’ - i sort of think - you would if you had diabetes - there ain’t no choice!!! 😅

I’m on the tslim x2! 😍 I don’t really remember exactly, because I’m on the Dexcom (so not doing finger pricks) but when I was I’d say I’d change it when it started to hurt! 😆 not advisable! 😅🤪

@@ShesDiabetic why don’t you have to stick yourself with the Dexcom. I am on Medtronic 770G minimed. I was told that every time I eat I have to use my finger stick reading to calculate my bolus. Don’t get it. Lol. I am a kind of type 1 diabetic but really type 3c. I have no pancreas at all. I am a diabetic for 6 years now. I survived Pancreatic Cancer because of lifesaving surgery where they removed my cancerous Pancreas. At first nobody cared about my readings. It was about surviving or not cancer. Now that I am in the 9% that survived PC for over 5 years they are all over my readings. A1C and all. I am horrible at this. I watched you over a year ago. I don’t think I understood much. I was not on the pump yet. I have started to watch your videos again because I remembered your pump video. Also you are uplifting. You have a great vlog. I am going to put a link on my living without your pancreas FB group. You will be a great help to the people in my group who have no pancreas. It is a growing population which is good and bad. 💜

@@kerri759 Hi Kerri. My father in law not survived pancreas cancer and the last year he was because of that also diabetic type 3c. So I know it is not a very easy situation you are. I have currently the Minimed 640G pump with use the same sensors then the 770 but will move to the Tslim X with Dexcom G6 begin next month. For the minimed sensor you still have to calibrate twice a day. The dexcom you just give a code on the package to the devices coupled with that and then you need not to do longer calibrations finger pricks. With the minimed sensor I do not more then the two finger pricks a day for calibrating. Before a meal I just read the current value on the pump of the senser and at manually that to the wizard that caculate the bolus and that works fine. Is less work then doing a finger prick and much less painfull too ;-)

@@friedelpas5637 also I am sorry about your father in law. Unfortunately many do not survive pancreatic cancer. It is a sad and very painful disease. It is extremely hard on the caregiver. Have your spouse check for it at least once a year. There may be a genetic correlation. My mother had PC also but she died within 4 months of the diagnosis.

@@gonefishin6004 The same for me. When I was diagnosted I had a value of 720! Really dehydrated and lost weight to 48 kg. I felt me really terrible. The docter in the emergency department of the hospital was looking for me in the intensive care part while I was just waiting in the waiting room. In one night I felt me extreme better and got a lot weight back too, only my sight was because of going from the extreme high value to the normal values very bad for about 2 weeks. That is now already 28 years ago.
