The stinger is honestly not the worst. My great grandpa always raved about it in his journals of rhe 3rd succession war, and the battlerom footage keeps up. The way you play the stinger is to constantly be jumpspamming and kicking, and firing the medium lasers and or MG’s you have. Your role is to be the annoying skirmisher that drags attention away from the front line, only to get knocked away like the annoying twink anime protagonists the younger cadets tend to think they are.
My unit felt that the Stinger's key problem was that it lacked enough speed to keep it alive. One configuration we refitted removed the 120 fusion and replacing it with a Locust's engine. We removed 2 of the jump jets and the MG's and added a second Medium laser in the left torso. This provided a cheap but mobile recon machine. With those that were built with endosteel, we kept its original jump jets, added double heatsinks and its lasers were upgraded to IS ER Medium Lasers.
What canon source says the LFN Lindblad is only 7.7mm? This is a ridiculously small round for a machine gun that's supposed to be able to damage armor and Battlemechs.
So do i send a locust to fight it and give the salvage to the infantry regiments? wait i thought the timberwolf was the clan trainer mech did the mechwarrior 2 game lie to everybody
When it comes to bug mechs I prefer the wasp. That said the stinger is cheap and cheerful and works if you want a cheap scout so you can put your money elsewhere.
A definite mixed bag of a mech, one that would be better off harassing infantry and artillery units rather than fighting other mechs. Slower than what I would like, and infinitely less armed and armored than I would ever willingly choose to pilot. But they are cheap and expendable light mechs, so widely produced and used that they can be slotted into just about any force and not be put of place. Which includes even in battle as a filler unit. Not enough bc for a better mech, or the lance is too small? Just throw one of these guys in for a slightly worse gunner on one of your boys and your good.
@jaromswenson7541 fair enough. I think it's more the heads and the fact that the stinger is more a man shaped mech, much like the Gears are more like men in large powered armour suits.
XL engine on a 20 tonner is dodgy. One to two hits from a Clan ER Large laser and the mech is toast. With a standard engine the pilot at least has a chance to withdraw and save the mech.
...and Discount Dan can get you a very good deal on any of the Stingers advertised in this video *.
* as long as you don't ask where it came from 🙂.
@@lexington476 Never ask any 'mech dealer where they found the thing, even when buying from the manufacturer
It's so comforting to know that Discount Dan will always take my money.
I have always been a big fan of the Stinger. Even though a heavy rainstorm could pierce its armor, the Stinger is overall my favorite 3025 light mech.
Is it great? No. Is it tough? also no. Do I love this little bastard anyway? Damn right I do
Yes! Same.
It may be a staple in every Phoenix Hawk's diet, but the Stinger is fun for what it is. It's also a bastard and a half if you're playing Battletroops.
The "custom" version between the -3R and -3G variants that I prefer is to drop 0.5 tons of MG ammo and add another 8 points of armor.
A decent training mech. But if I'm actually getting shot at I'd much rather be in it's bigger and much scarier brother the Phoneix Hawk

Oh yeah, the stiger. Many have eaten my King Crabs AC20 to the chest. It's brother the wasp as well. Fun times.

Our local dealership gives you the business card of a chiropractor with every sale of a Stinger.

Two nights in a row! It must be Christmas 🎄 lmao
The irony of a mech that had it in-game origins in copyright infringement as one of the Unseen mechs.....LOL.
Every mech academy grad's first mech...
Sometimes their last...
Thank you Shoji Kawamori, The VF-1 Valkyrie and Super Dimension Fortress Macross
I find the range of the new light machine gun and the Heavy machine gun very strange, maybe reversed.
How does everyone feel about XLS on light mechs?
@@teehasheestower honestly? On a mech that already had very limited durability, it doesn't matter much.
@ProfessorHeyTeeEn that's how I feel about it too. I think it also explains why the XL engines stay affordable at that tonnage too.
Stingers seems small and weak. Until you find yourself out numbered 4+ to one.
Only need 2 mechs to cause lots of problems stinger and arrow4 catapult. Just swap to tag for med laser
@@defiantmechwarrior2397 or the machine guns, or the second MedLas on the 3G.
Makes it a cheaper Ostscout.

Ah yes, the 'stinger', totally not a veritech transformable fighter!
Is it the best light mech? No. But its almost always good enough to fill in some points in a lance
stinger vs wasp STinger GOT 2 HAND Wasp 1 hand.... so yea like stinger for that nothing else

Why do so many of the images look like Heavy Gears?
I am just asking.
im the artist of some that that art, its just how i draw stingers (a redesign)

"everone" Started a Rougetech Outerworld run....Stinger, Hornets and I think Roadrunners are some terrorist mechs
Got Rougeteched!
That's a vf1 valkyrie
VF-1A, to be more precise.
