Hi kakarot197 may I ask if would do a "all GMs ever produced"? It's kinda interesting to get to know all the obscure GMs that only a few people know! And also Im kinda looking for gms I could custom make into HGs 😅
They helped, but they were like anti-infantry tanks, the Gundam was the Tank made to fight other tanks! Think of the Guntank as a TD, the Guncannon is a M3 Lee and the Gundam is an M47 Patton. Sure the panzer 2 and 3 are going to see the TD and the Lee, but they are going to be pissing themselves as they scramble to kill the Patton because they were stupidly desperate to take down the biggest threat on the battlefield!
I like UC as much as most, but man, Bandai has crammed so many games, mangas, etc, into limited space that it has sometimes led to one really incoherent setting.
It's because while the main installments are 6, covering quite a few decades, Bandai chose to focus mainly on the One Year War. It's the same problem with all anime franchise, the producers try to milk the fan favourite parts, narrative coherence be damned.
As much as I like the abundance of Gundams in the OYW due to the scale, I felt like some of these might have been fine as a standalone series or maybe beyond the OYW like around the same time frame as Hathaway

That's exactly what they were trying to do with the gundam, but the reentry detour that the White Base had to take delayed that. At least that's what I'm guessing, since the GMs were ready to go almost immediately after Jaburo got access to the gundam's data.
I use to hate FA versions, but this really puts it into perspective. It really feels like there is one high ranking Fed officer out there who just loves Full Armour versions no matter how much people make fun of them.
@@baronvonslambert True. I read one account where the US Army had to specifically write a reg during WWII to get the troops to STOP using concrete as extra armor. It worked well enough, but water was getting stuck and causing corrosion in addition to the drivetrain removing itself from existence.
Concept wise it could if it's defenses were like that of say the juaggo, which at the time of the one year war would be almost unbeatable, and had fire power that could wreck a good group of enemy mobile suits and ships. However if you're still wanting mobility behind it then it's not gonna work, at that point you may as well make it like the g3 Gundam or the Gundam Alex.
@@Plaprad Huh, I read in testing it was proven to offer no signifigant resistance, and while it was tolerated at first transmission burnout was such an issue it was banned before long. Simulations seem to bear this out (see ua-cam.com/video/a4UGc0DQBik/v-deo.html) but I know there is also the factor of soldiers lore for protection not always matching what is shown in testing.

I like in Gundam Thunderbolt how a Federation bigwig got pissed off that Anaheim Electronics puts a Gundam head on non-Gundam mobile suits, calls it a Gundam, and sells it to the Federation at a higher cost.
also has the most realistic implementation of shields imo. doesnt make sense to have the most vital and sensitive parts of the suit (arms) be wasted on trying to move a hunk of metal around when they could easily just make more simpler arms that can hold them further away where they could realistically take a shot and break without damaging the unit every time its shot like handheld shields would do. which is why those(handheld shields) are so unrealistic imo.
There's some lore that the FA project underwent multiple design iterations including a 'mobile armour' version similar to B-Parts-equipped Gundam before the FA-78 was designed, so something like the Thunderbolt version is quite plausible ad one of the turned-down designs.
The Mudrock Complete "Madrock" as GBO2 calls it is half-Dom, basically making it the perfect earth-use gundam, all the advantages of the Gundam, Guncannon, and Dom thrown into one.
Just too bad GBO2 treat support types as slow walking targets. The mudrock and GM sniper 2 are suppose to have high mobility that rival or even surpass most OYW general types.

I was going to say there would have to be more than 20 Ground Types if there was going to be more than 6 MS Teams, but then I remembered that (I think) most of them used Ground GMs. Still, shows you how lucky the 8th MS Team really was to have a full team of 3 Gundams for their whole run on the SEAsia front.
If I remember right 4 of the MS teams on the SE Asia front got 3 Gundams each, because those 4 teams were assigned to the highest priority regions. The rest all got stuck with GM ground types
Hell of a lot of Gundams to throw into a 1 year time frame. Especially when it wasnt til Sept that the events of MGS begin. You know when the Feds were first supposed to start fielding their own MS. And with this many Gundams in development you'd think a few dozen leaks of their existence and armament wouldve been known to Zeon

Retcon has the Feds releasing their ground Gundam in the summer. Zeon’s earth forces were isolated from their HQ and communication got bad due to M particles, hence being surprised by Fed MS.
for the Gundam featured in Requiem of Vengeance- additional details- it bears RX-78 EX designation on its chest, beam rifle, 3x beam sabers holsters on shoulder, a gatling gun on the other shoulder, and a unique shield
I don't know if you missed it or not, but Lilith doesn't pilot the pixy gundam unit 3, but the initial test type that she later customized the person who does pilot unit 3 is Cortés I believe he appears in the federation hooligans Manga
I hope we can see the prototype Gundam get animated. Also, imagine if instead of surviving, the rx-78-2 gets destroyed fighting Char's gelgoog, forcing Amuro to pilot the rx-78-3 to fight the zeong.
Guess the Blue Destiny Unit 0 doesn't count since that was more of a GM. In an alternate universe versions of events, Casval gains access to a custom made RX-78 clone. Another alternate version is the RX-78-Z1. In Gundam 0079: The War for Earth, the RX-78-2 temporarily gets the treads of the Guntank. A slightly different version with its own story of how Amuro gets access to it is the G40 version. While the last one is far removed, the Amakusa literally has data of Amuro's fighting style.
I like SD generation Genesis interpretation of Agar. He knew what he was actually doing. The mudrock in that version suffer from incompletion at Jaburo and Agar got tactically jumped by the Midnight Fenrir.

I love the spare parts lore for the ground type and follow on units, like so vague but now it has to be made to work in universe. Spare parts from side 7 delivered by WB? Or spare parts left over in jaburo? Were they spares from canceled RX-78 units (making >20 Ground types out them is a lot of "spares") or were they planned to be used for something else? And people like Kakarot get to make sense of the madness.
sub-standard parts for Project V that required a frankly ludicrous degree of quality so there was a lot of material that wasn't up to snuff and would soon be agreed to be reused for the Ground Gundam project
I never really found it lore breaking that there seemed to be so many Gundams during the One-Year War. The Gundam had more than proved its effectiveness in battle, completely outperforming anything Zeon could throw at it, so it’s only natural that the Federation would want many more, and would want more specialized variants as the Gundam didn’t excel in any particular function. While expensive to produce, the Federation definitely did have the resources to produce all these Gundams, though that likely contributed to their slow economic and military recovery after the war. So me personally I do believe all these Gundams existed and were fielded during the war. Also also, I consider Gundam Thunderbolt, specifically the anime, canon to the U.C.
So going by the mainline One Year War. 4 Test units that likely never saw combat (Prototype Gundam, Proto Alex, G-IV, and G-3) 3 units that were never actually built (Perfect Gundam, Real Type, and FA Gundam Ground) 2 units whose existence is debatable (FA Gundam and FA Alex) 1 unit that didn't really operate until after OYW (7th Gundam) So overall 9 "Gundam" types (including the 3 Pixy units), 3 Blue Destiny units, and over 20 Gundam Ground Types saw actual combat in the OYW. Though technically the Alex only fought in Side 6, where it was damaged. There's also the 4 "Riders".
Not to mention that there is apparently some debate on whether the Pixy units are even canon, for some reason. So depending on how you view that, it could shorten the list further. On a side note, the FA Alex also counts as a "not used until after the One Year War" design in the Katana manga, since it was design at the same time as the Chobam armor but wasn't built until UC 0084.
@@magnatcleo2043the pixy has been specifically called out by bandai as being non-canon in the past and is really only used in side stories. I personally like it and consider it canon but there's a lot of precedent for it not to be.
You forgot that in one timeline, the RX-78-3 "G-3" was stolen by NINJA for Degwin Zabi and ended up being customized into the "Mobile Ninja", Hidden Shadow of G or "G no Kage-Nin." It ended up in use up until 0093 as it was destroyed fight a weapon known as the "Bio Gundam" during the 2nd Neo-Zeon war.

I love it how the Ground Gundams were made of spare parts and at the end many of them no longer look like the base models and became their own looking gundam.
Yeah. Ground Gundams became for the federation what the Efreet was for Zeon. Both very capable suits that only saw limited production despite, and ended up having many units become completely unique due to lack of parts. Also funny enough they were both used as each side's test-beds for the Exam system too. Only 8 Efreets were made, of which 4 are known to became unique custom suits (Custom, Shneid, Nacht, and Jager) Meanwhile 20 Ground Gundams were produced, and at least 7 ended up being modified to varying degrees (the Ez8, Re-Rage, Slaive Wraith, 3 blue destiny units, and Karen's "GM head" unit)

I think the only real exception I can think of would be another alternate timeline Gundam the RX-78/C.A. Casval’s Gundam. Just a Char Red gundam with apparently slightly better performance to the original
Honestly, given the high productivity of UC manufacturing making most of these Gundams within a few months isn't implausible especially as several are just data in a Federation computer somewhere. Look at the massive web of development the Titan's took just to get us to the Gundam Mk II, or Zeon's prolific output of any machine their heart's desired. For me, though, I would've been more enthusiastic with GMs as the hero machines for much of these side-stories. Like, the 08th MS Team could've piloted GMs customized for the SEA front and I don't think we'd be complaining.
Man that's a lot of Gundam. I love hearing about non-Amuro piloted suits. Really fleshes out the UC canon. And to all of the people asking about the Atlas Gundam. GelGoogle is your friend. Gundam Atlas was first seen in U.C. 0080 which is a whole 8 months after the One Year War ended, the OVAs and manga both state this fact.
Good video. Nice to see that the G04 & G05 and the Rx79[G']s get some love. At least the 6th, 7th and Full Armor Gundams finally got some kind of attention, the Alex Gundam always takes the spot light from them
I think the Pale Riders should've had a mention here. Some people may not consider them Gundams, but they meet almost all of the usual requirements of a UC Gundam type as well as having the appearance of one.
I think the Pale Rider series deserves its own video. Probably a good time to revisit it too, it got a ton of new stuff and lore that wasn't mention in the old video.
The Pixy Gundam Really upsets me because it ditched the good range of the beam sabers and used two beam daggers. The generator was also incapable of handling a beam weapon (I personally think the GM command Beam gun would have been a great addition to the unit). That "Ball Gundam" Is probably my favorite Joke of the Gundam series. Cosplay in war.
Man, kakarat really hates full armor gundams for some reason. Although I say if the mobile suit has the gundam head and proper V fin or horns It's a gundam it's why I say the turn a isn't a gundam.
Personally, the Marine Type Gundam seems like it was more of an extention of the Gundam Ground Type rather than the GM, with the GM Diver being the equivalent program for a GM for the same environment

The fun thing to think about with the word Gundam is how it went from being briefly a symbol of Hope, to a symbol of terrible things to come. Everywhere the Gundam went, bad things happened. Even if it stopped the bad things, there would still be countless deaths and LOTS of suffering. And every Gundam after that, the problem only ever got worse. Which is why by the time Unicorn happened, when it transformed into a Gundam.... No one was excited. The kids were at best completely Done, and everyone else was just quiet. Even Mineva approached it very much as a case of "Awh fuck". The storytelling of the Gundam being "The savior" but also "The harbinger of bad things" is kind of amazing. It's like "WE'RE HERE TO SAVE YOU!" "Oh Yaaaaay, the catholics are here!" "FROM YOURSELVES!" "Oh shit, the catholics are here."
The use of GBO2 art pleases me. ^_^ Granted in most cases it's the best, and sometimes ONLY, option for official art of some MS. Like the Stutzer trio of Zeon MS, which aren't in this video obviously but before GBO2 all they had was a side-on picture.
I'd hate to be that person but as a pixie main in GBO2 and a fan of the suit in general there technically are four pixies/pixy thanks to code fairy. You have the normal color from the game that introduced it, the grey and dark gray from one manga, a dark green and gray from another manga and then the one that would be upgraded by the half way point of code fairy
@@MrCreepjo the Fans wants a new story for different timeline in UC but Bandai refuse to give it to them, instead they just keep making another sides story for OYW just so more newer fan can enjoy, a perfect example of this is how new fan react to Gundam thunderbolt and Hathaway flash, on the other side they don't have to worry about the plot and reference since it was set in the very first timeline, meanwhile in Hathaway you need to understand certain point and reference to finally understand the plot, you need to watch zeta and CCA to understand who is Hathaway really is just to enjoy the movie

Not sure if it counts, but the Gunboy Wilbur from the For the Barrel novel is an alternative version of a RX-78-2, despite not being called a gundam. It may be an obscure novel, that was only available thru Newtype, but it's still an official project. Also the design is very unique, especially compared to the original.

Also, there is no mention of the pale rider/rider units in this or the gm video. Also, i don't have a source but there was prototype transforming gundam spawned from the same project as the pixy and alex.
I feel like many of the Gundams would've made more sense, if they were made in the years after the OYW, like the Blue Destiny's, or the Riders, or even the full armors. Just have the Ground type's, Alex, and original RX's during the OYW, and have most be made after it, during the mopping up of Zeon remnants. that probably just sounded like some sort of fanfiction.

If I remember right 4 of the MS teams on the SE Asia front got 3 Gundams each, because those 4 teams were assigned to the highest priority regions. The rest all got stuck with GM ground types
Hell of a lot of Gundams to throw into a 1 year time frame. Especially when it wasnt til Sept that the events of MGS begin. You know when the Feds were first supposed to start fielding their own MS. And with this many Gundams in development you'd think a few dozen leaks of their existence and armament wouldve been known to Zeon

I like SD generation Genesis interpretation of Agar. He knew what he was actually doing. The mudrock in that version suffer from incompletion at Jaburo and Agar got tactically jumped by the Midnight Fenrir.

I love the spare parts lore for the ground type and follow on units, like so vague but now it has to be made to work in universe. Spare parts from side 7 delivered by WB? Or spare parts left over in jaburo? Were they spares from canceled RX-78 units (making >20 Ground types out them is a lot of "spares") or were they planned to be used for something else? And people like Kakarot get to make sense of the madness.
Probably fresh off a production line. Gundam parts are still being produced during the original anime with Matilda delivering them to white base
sub-standard parts for Project V that required a frankly ludicrous degree of quality so there was a lot of material that wasn't up to snuff and would soon be agreed to be reused for the Ground Gundam project
I never really found it lore breaking that there seemed to be so many Gundams during the One-Year War. The Gundam had more than proved its effectiveness in battle, completely outperforming anything Zeon could throw at it, so it’s only natural that the Federation would want many more, and would want more specialized variants as the Gundam didn’t excel in any particular function. While expensive to produce, the Federation definitely did have the resources to produce all these Gundams, though that likely contributed to their slow economic and military recovery after the war. So me personally I do believe all these Gundams existed and were fielded during the war. Also also, I consider Gundam Thunderbolt, specifically the anime, canon to the U.C.
So going by the mainline One Year War.
4 Test units that likely never saw combat (Prototype Gundam, Proto Alex, G-IV, and G-3)
3 units that were never actually built (Perfect Gundam, Real Type, and FA Gundam Ground)
2 units whose existence is debatable (FA Gundam and FA Alex)
1 unit that didn't really operate until after OYW (7th Gundam)
So overall 9 "Gundam" types (including the 3 Pixy units), 3 Blue Destiny units, and over 20 Gundam Ground Types saw actual combat in the OYW.
Though technically the Alex only fought in Side 6, where it was damaged.
There's also the 4 "Riders".
Not to mention that there is apparently some debate on whether the Pixy units are even canon, for some reason. So depending on how you view that, it could shorten the list further.
On a side note, the FA Alex also counts as a "not used until after the One Year War" design in the Katana manga, since it was design at the same time as the Chobam armor but wasn't built until UC 0084.
@@magnatcleo2043the pixy has been specifically called out by bandai as being non-canon in the past and is really only used in side stories. I personally like it and consider it canon but there's a lot of precedent for it not to be.

The RX-78-8 model never appeared blueprints delevoped Mobile Suit it's unknown is A Gundam-type or GM-type.
The RX-80 development Mobile Suit is unknown possible is Gundam-type or Gundam Pseduo-type.
You forgot that in one timeline, the RX-78-3 "G-3" was stolen by NINJA for Degwin Zabi and ended up being customized into the "Mobile Ninja", Hidden Shadow of G or "G no Kage-Nin." It ended up in use up until 0093 as it was destroyed fight a weapon known as the "Bio Gundam" during the 2nd Neo-Zeon war.

that is indeed a lot of Gundams for a war that lasted only a year, Tem Ray's research and development really paid off.
I love it how the Ground Gundams were made of spare parts and at the end many of them no longer look like the base models and became their own looking gundam.
Yeah. Ground Gundams became for the federation what the Efreet was for Zeon.
Both very capable suits that only saw limited production despite, and ended up having many units become completely unique due to lack of parts.
Also funny enough they were both used as each side's test-beds for the Exam system too.
Only 8 Efreets were made, of which 4 are known to became unique custom suits (Custom, Shneid, Nacht, and Jager)
Meanwhile 20 Ground Gundams were produced, and at least 7 ended up being modified to varying degrees (the Ez8, Re-Rage, Slaive Wraith, 3 blue destiny units, and Karen's "GM head" unit)

Honestly, given the high productivity of UC manufacturing making most of these Gundams within a few months isn't implausible especially as several are just data in a Federation computer somewhere. Look at the massive web of development the Titan's took just to get us to the Gundam Mk II, or Zeon's prolific output of any machine their heart's desired. For me, though, I would've been more enthusiastic with GMs as the hero machines for much of these side-stories.
Like, the 08th MS Team could've piloted GMs customized for the SEA front and I don't think we'd be complaining.
Man that's a lot of Gundam. I love hearing about non-Amuro piloted suits. Really fleshes out the UC canon.
And to all of the people asking about the Atlas Gundam. GelGoogle is your friend. Gundam Atlas was first seen in U.C. 0080 which is a whole 8 months after the One Year War ended, the OVAs and manga both state this fact.
For the scale of the Federation there should be more Gundams

I think the Pale Riders should've had a mention here. Some people may not consider them Gundams, but they meet almost all of the usual requirements of a UC Gundam type as well as having the appearance of one.
I think the Pale Rider series deserves its own video.

The Pixy Gundam Really upsets me because it ditched the good range of the beam sabers and used two beam daggers. The generator was also incapable of handling a beam weapon (I personally think the GM command Beam gun would have been a great addition to the unit).

Man, kakarat really hates full armor gundams for some reason. Although I say if the mobile suit has the gundam head and proper V fin or horns It's a gundam it's why I say the turn a isn't a gundam.
Personally, the Marine Type Gundam seems like it was more of an extention of the Gundam Ground Type rather than the GM, with the GM Diver being the equivalent program for a GM for the same environment
I would like to see bandai make a tie together side story. Where every major plot point in UC timeline is tied together.
If we want to get into more post war fates, a Heavy Gundam got outfitted with a Bio-sensor and upgraded all around in the Johnny Ridden manga.

The fun thing to think about with the word Gundam is how it went from being briefly a symbol of Hope, to a symbol of terrible things to come. Everywhere the Gundam went, bad things happened. Even if it stopped the bad things, there would still be countless deaths and LOTS of suffering. And every Gundam after that, the problem only ever got worse. Which is why by the time Unicorn happened, when it transformed into a Gundam.... No one was excited. The kids were at best completely Done, and everyone else was just quiet. Even Mineva approached it very much as a case of "Awh fuck".
The storytelling of the Gundam being "The savior" but also "The harbinger of bad things" is kind of amazing. It's like "WE'RE HERE TO SAVE YOU!" "Oh Yaaaaay, the catholics are here!" "FROM YOURSELVES!" "Oh shit, the catholics are here."

Granted in most cases it's the best, and sometimes ONLY, option for official art of some MS.
Like the Stutzer trio of Zeon MS, which aren't in this video obviously but before GBO2 all they had was a side-on picture.
I'd hate to be that person but as a pixie main in GBO2 and a fan of the suit in general there technically are four pixies/pixy thanks to code fairy. You have the normal color from the game that introduced it, the grey and dark gray from one manga, a dark green and gray from another manga and then the one that would be upgraded by the half way point of code fairy

@@MrCreepjo the Fans wants a new story for different timeline in UC but Bandai refuse to give it to them, instead they just keep making another sides story for OYW just so more newer fan can enjoy, a perfect example of this is how new fan react to Gundam thunderbolt and Hathaway flash, on the other side they don't have to worry about the plot and reference since it was set in the very first timeline, meanwhile in Hathaway you need to understand certain point and reference to finally understand the plot, you need to watch zeta and CCA to understand who is Hathaway really is just to enjoy the movie

Not sure if it counts, but the Gunboy Wilbur from the For the Barrel novel is an alternative version of a RX-78-2, despite not being called a gundam. It may be an obscure novel, that was only available thru Newtype, but it's still an official project. Also the design is very unique, especially compared to the original.

Probably both, it's like how sometimes in mythology or folktales other peoples accomplishments get attributed to a single person. In this case it's "The White Devil" of the Federation.

I feel like many of the Gundams would've made more sense, if they were made in the years after the OYW, like the Blue Destiny's, or the Riders, or even the full armors. Just have the Ground type's, Alex, and original RX's during the OYW, and have most be made after it, during the mopping up of Zeon remnants.
