HiDef: Cab Ride on Black River and Western #60!

- Thanks to my best friend Robert, I was able to hang out in the cab of BR&W 2-8-0 #60 right before Christmas this year. The steam locomotive featured a custom built 6 chime whistle, which sounded great throughout the central New Jersey farmland. Big thanks to Rob and his crew for this wonderful opportunity. We'll catch them first at Everitts Road and Toad Lane before boarding the train at Ringoes Station for our ride in the cab.

Great Western # 60 is one of the four survived Great Western steam locomotives. It's a beautiful 2-8-0 "Consolidation" steam locomotive.
Also you did a pretty good cab ride video in BR&W # 60, Jared Steele.

I've visited the Polar Express train ride at the Grand Canyon Railway and filmed too, on December 23rd 2019. While you were filming this train ride pulled by Black River & Western # 60.
That gap between the top two notes (the D# and the A) is so wide that I could fit a seventh note (F#) in there.

If I recall correctly, 60's whistle isn't just ANY custom 6 chime. It's a custom K5LA whistle, like what 2101 and 614 wore back in their time under Ross Rowland's ownership from the AFT to those 1985 coal trains.
On this day she wore a custom made 6-chime, owned by one of our volunteers

What if BR&W 60 can doublehead with NH&I 40 on a ferry visit to the Strasburg Railroad? Maybe a 40/60/90 tripleheader in the future for a round of runbys and photo charters!
