What a hobby. I have nothing but respect for a grown man who can work to acheive such a magnificent layout in his own yard. What a gift to his family, neighbors and friends.
Simply, a wonderful little railroad. Mr. Bautista has created tidy little railroad in limited space that is sure to provide all the pleasure one could hope to experience from this hobby. Love the flat cars and locomotive.
Now this is the best backyard railroad video I’ve ever seen. Especially love panning the house and then the opening of the garage door. Great opening scene!
This is very cool. Just imagine going through the house from the back door into the kitchen then through the living room then out the front door entrance. 😊🚂🛤️ 🏠
Had this video in my recommendations, and I'm impressed. What a change of pace to the usual "all talk" vlogs nowadays. Attention to detail, an eye for great composition, and a wonderful mixture of angles. And to top it off a cat as passenger, this really is a hobby for the whole family.
Thanks for the wonderful comment! It truly is a hobby, and or obsession, one can share with the the whole family. Hell the whole neighborhood! Half the time it turns out to be a party over here…!! 🚂🎉
That is so completely and totally AWESOME! I bet you’re the most popular guy/house on the block when you break out that engine! I’ve never lost my fascination with trains and would love to have something like this. As P.T. Barnum once said: “the noblest art is that of making others happy.” You are a true artist, Mr. Bautista. Happy railroading!
Awwww shucks… Thanks for the love 😊 When that whistle blows the folks sure come out, and 9/10 times it becomes a party!! Like the old saying goes.., ‘If you build it, they will come….
@TRAIN BUILDER I hope my tweet goes far and wide! My grandfather was a conductor but died before I was born. An Amtrak conductor saved my life by emphasizing I needed to hold onto the rail when getting on - which hampered the man's attempt to kill me by spraying silicone on the train floor in front of me. My hamstring was badly torn and the ER doctor at Yale University Hospital REFUSED treatment even though the conductor called for an ambulance and transported me there because I couldn't get up. He had everyone get off and switched trains. That guy stayed there watching! Like an arsonist watching the fire he created. I would have been dead if his plan worked - and Richard Blumenthal was in on it. My landlord too. All hooked up with Becker & Becker Development - same group that's tight with Silicon Valley Bank. Bozzuto listed their company being owned by a Weather Altering Service. I left an FBI agent I knew a message about it. My phone is obvious bugged by CIA, but I made sure I printed thevm info and mailed it to him. Hopefully he got it. We didn't talk to each other and I was OK with that, to not interfere with his investigations. He saved my life once too. The government structure is so filled with organized crime. My own uncle turned out to be a jigalo, probably rich doing CIA jobs. He stole my SSN and used it on the purchase documents of the second luxury car he got, a Mercedes Benz for his wife. It ruined my credit. I called the bank and told them to Prosecute him. They instead told me to call him. I said no. He's a criminal. The CIA are protected no matter what. No wonder he said I could stay there and secure a job, yet told me I couldn't get a job unless it was a government job, delaying it all, and asking me to take his niece (SHE had money, so I didn't earn the right to be called niece. My ambition and skills meant nothing to him) to upstate NY for a vacation - WTF - she could have flown. But I did and returned back after 2 weeks. As much as I didn't like living up there, I secured a temporary job as Secretary to the Divisiom Artillery. I left my uncle's, leaving $300 cash on the table, despite having no income for months. Little did I know he made thousands by evading tariffs and taxes using my SSN when he got the Mercedes Benz. No wonder he didn't eant me to work around tgere. He'd get caught! But so what, he's obviously a CIA operative and can do what he want. That was tears ago. He did nothing for my father and my father was kilked by my brother conspiring with a paedophile priest from Albany, NY - David Bentley. The Catholic Church was being sued by his victims of 19 years - aboyt 26 victims. They needed a permanent secretary but refused to put me in for a permanent slit so I requested a transfer. They wouldn't help me with that either and I made a lot of achievements. I left after 3 years, sick of then using me. In an old WW2 bldg. I was their slave. A low life, which NY uncle obviously set the pace for. They didn't care my uncle stole my SSN and ruined my credit, etc. But I met General Colin Powell when I was there. The assigned soldier failed to call the building to attention so I did, as regulations stated I had to if nobody else did, not even the command Sargent major. What a hoot! His daughter had the same name as me, too. He wanted to talk to me more after seeing the Colonel but the CSM or colonel obviously called Washington and got GHW Bush to tell him not to talk to me. The colonel TOLD all soldiers to vote for GHW Bush. Several said if he became President, he would order war. I voted for Clinton just because of that. WTF - Clinton was a stooge, to help him win. He is his illegitimate son, that's why GW Bush wasn't a junior. Clinton was born a month sooner - maybe deliberately, by c-section or induced labor. Well, youtube will probably block me here too because the Technocrats protect the crooks they conspire with. Especially CIA. Mark Zuckerberg is really Robert T Morris, who created the Mortis Worm and destroyed all computer hard drives in 1989 - except Apple computers - Technocracy was getting their foothold, and CIA obviously changed the identity of many crooks. Our country has been hijacked, friends. Americans mass-murdered Americans on September11. I haven't threatened anyone and shared my opinion, as always - but it doesn't matter - UA-cam will block me for hate speech and claim in a message they have to protect the community. DESTRUCTION of the economy is protecting the community? WTF but people are so lame brained from allowing themselves to be mind controlled, glued to TV, etc. 3/27/2023
This is a man that thoroughly enjoys his train toys! Every kid wants something.. some get fire trucks, some get police cars and this guy gets the cool miniature train! Well done you!
What a nicely designed line! I love the scale and the equipment in general but engine is a dream come true. The video is first class, no doubt, and the experience of seeing it from the very beginning of the set up was incredibly practical. Avoiding having a switch out of the engine shed was pure genious and it saves so much money and complexity! Well done all around. Congrats.
Felt like I was actually in this cool little train. Don't usually get such a realistic riding experience without a VR. It was also a good learning watching the whole thing from start to finish. Thanks creators!
What a nice situation you have created, very clean and organized. May I ask where you found your track? I didn't know if you bought it pre bent? Seems you have worked out a lot of the challenges facing us new to live steam and laying track. Great job and thanks again for sharing. 👍
Now this is the best backyard railroad video I’ve ever seen. Especially love panning the house and then the opening of the garage door. Great opening scene!😍
I think Massee and Train Builder should do a documentary on live steam. I’m a fan of both and this video proves my point. I think live steam deserves a production that captures both the fun and professional aspect of the hobby. Great video.
Love the part of the journey where you go through the front yard and along the side of the house… the railway is tucked into the landscaping perfectly! I’d love to do this at my place and I have a lot of space
I am watching in the U.K. What a delightful miniature railroad. The camera work is superb. Thank you for sharing with everybody. You are a very lucky & clever man!!
My complements all the way around. From the design and construction of the train as well as the beautiful track layout around your home. Your scaled down steam engine is beyond amazing. This is probably one of the most impressive things I’ve seen done by a private guy. I love seeing the cat get in on the family fun. Beautiful video production as well. Thank you for sharing your work for others to enjoy.
It is obvious who is having the most fun. This video was recommended to me because I had just viewed the wonderful steam locomotive gala in Galway Ireland
Beautiful locomotive and cars. So cool to see a backyard set up in a suburban neighborhood. Like High Desert Railroader commented, don't need acres of land! Great footage.
This is very cute, I love it! It goes to show you just how powerful steam engines really are. This is a small locomotive that can pull all that weight with a tiny steam plant! Nicely done!
Evan really has the dream RR from my perspective. No matter how much or how little space you have you can make it happen. Was awesome to meet even at Bittercreek earlier this month too. Such an awesome guy and loco.
I've seen many a home-train layout with different scaled locos, and have worked on HOLLYWOOD movies with trains... but as far as the temporary track-laying each time, I think I'd permanently imbed the track in the driveway and sideway, specially if you're intend to live in that home a long time! We used to have a scaled model railway store here in Burbank, they personally worked with Walt Disney and helped get him interested, built very convincing scaled trains for the studios. Either way, you do the BEST you can with the space and economics, and its always encouraging when you see children still wanting to ride the model trains in this day and age. Great presentation Mike and you have a well landscaped garden as so many have already commented!
Thanks Graham! It was a pleasure to film with Mike. Such talent to the art. I’d love nothing more then to imbed the rails, and will look more into that in the near future. I have a lot of brick unfortunately, and I fear that maybe an issue.., But we’ll see! Glad you enjoyed the video 😊
@@TRAINBUILDER As for not imbedding the rails, maybe Mike's thinking to the future and moving... nothing like a big, big backyard for a growing railroad!
That's one fine miniature train. It reminds my of the one at Springbank Park in London, Ontario which, up until 1968, ran on steam power. It still runs every summer, but now with a petrol engine.
Brings back memories. In the early mid 50s when I was a kid, I grew up in Houston, tx .near the center of the city there was the city's park throughout the park was a small gage like the one in this video that for 75cwnts one could ride all through the park. The ride lasted about 15 min .
That is so cool, I really appreciate the amount of effort and detail this gentleman put into the creation of this rideable mini steam train Great job Sir!
An amazing and beautifully photographed train set. Maybe Mr. Bautista could come and sort out my country's (NZ) sagging intercity and suburban train systems.
What a hobby. I have nothing but respect for a grown man who can work to acheive such a magnificent layout in his own yard. What a gift to his family, neighbors and friends.

So cool to see this man do this for kids and mothers and fathers there are good people out there …
Now this is the best backyard railroad video I’ve ever seen. Especially love panning the house and then the opening of the garage door. Great opening scene!
Mike. Tiny steam for kids. Your concentration is incredible. Thanks master !!. Regards. Dave
This is very cool. Just imagine going through the house from the back door into the kitchen then through the living room then out the front door entrance. 😊🚂🛤️ 🏠
How freakin awesome is that? Every little kids dream. This guy will be a kid his entire life. I love it.
Incredible amount of work! Glad Evan's family is game for his passion!!!

I wish I had Mike for my neighbor growing up. What a cool little train.
Fantastic railroad, and keeping the wife happy by taking up some of the track when not operating. Gotta keep the peace, . . . .

Awesome railway, love how the logistics have been planned out, so anytime it’s not operational you would never know it existed
Now THAT is what I call a train set because you put it together with a drill and you can actually ride it.
