  • On September 27, 2012, Big Jim Video Productions was honored to be at the Black River and Western Railroad, in Ringoes, NJ, as their 2-8-0 Consolidation #60 was steamed up and tested out on the line for the second time in 2012. This was the engine's furthest run along the line in over a decade...this time, the engine was run with a freight car, caboose, and passenger cars to Flemington, and then with the freight and caboose to Three Bridges, where the engine switched around some freight cars for a while - before returning to Ringoes with the passenger consist as the sun set.
The angles I got were thanks to the BR&W/BRRHT crews, who allowed me access to their yards (with special permission and under supervision) to get these shots. I want to personally thank them for their hospitality and kindness on this day, when they didn't have to. Please do not trespass in their yard, either here or in Three Bridges, without explicit permission and supervision.
Enjoy the video, and don't forget to check out Big Jim Video Productions' Facebook page as well!

I can't believe how strong BR&W #60 is! She sure is strong for a great western consolidation locomotive!

Jim, this is outstanding work. First-class all the way. It's a great remembrance of a wonderful day. The guys who made it happen deserve a lot of credit.

So great to see her back in service! Congrats to all the BR&W staff, past and present, who made this happen. I live in 60's home territory near Longmont, CO now and it's cool to think she ran around the area not so many years ago.

i see this place isn't too far from the New Hope & Ivyland railroad!
a guy who worked with me (before leaving for greener pastures) is an engineer on the NH&I and arranged for a cab ride for my wife & me in NH&I 40 (normally they only allow one passenger in the cab) a couple years ago... AWESOME experience, and a much better view of the fall foliage.
next time we visit there, we'll also visit the BR&W!
    thanks for posting!

Very nice! I love the NH&I cab rides too - wish the BR&W did them as well.

Gotta love that N5 caboose. Is this switching line still running to this day, it would be a pleasure to just pull over and watch it for a minute. EXCELLENT footage. Thank you for posting and sharing.

hey guys, question, how many HP does that guy put out, I want to see how things have changed from the old Consolidations to the latest Evolution series. Also, its cool to see things like this in my hometown, anyway.
