Great way to celebrate 100 years of Disney animation, in my opinion.
Wow, already knew about this. But it’s good someone is sharing more details about the setting of Wish. And how it’s like a spiritual prequel to all Disney movies.
The difference is unlike Magnifico, wishes will not be given to Asha in hopes of one day being granted. Asha will bring comfort, guidance and an extra push to help anyone in need, just like Cinderella's fairy godmother, and the Three Good Faries in Sleeping Beauty, who don't actually grant wishes, but were guardians to Aurora.
It is a shame people are so blinded by garish colours to appreciate the fact that it looks like an actual painting. It is a shame that people can't tell the difference between singing fast and rapping. It is a shame people lack the ability to connect the dots in stories and have to be told everything in stories in long explanatory dialogue scenes. It's a shame people are so cynical they can't let a simple beautiful message into their hearts.
I’m glad we agree on what a cynical world we live in. But the problem is it’s so difficult for animation and positive messages to translate into something compelling these days.
@manuelorozco7760 it's that generally if you look at people that consume a lot of media, they immediately think the new and different is better. Anything big and flashy that instantly draws their attention. Things told as plainly as possible so they don't have to think to much. But all that doesn't mean that it's well done, just that it's different. Of course the irony lost on these people is by going back to an older style of storytelling that actually makes it different in comparison to the modern.
Epic! I just watched the movie. And I love it so much. It's definitely a big shout out and tribute to the other Disney animated movies. From the first to the now. The references in it are really big in the film. And I really got intrigued on how it references Disney's 100 years of animation. Cool to hear you explaining the meaning of it's ending. It definitely in a way does serve like an origin to the other Disney movies in a chronological order in universe that is. This is definitely Disney's finest work and tribute to 100 years of Disney.
This is incredible asha was the first Disney heroine 100 of years before snow white and was the first fairy godmother of a long line centuries later thank you disney for the origin of magic.
Yeah I personally don’t see why was that such a fuss mean “AI lyrics, lack of creativity ?” come on dude, not every film that’s going to be released will turn into super masterpiece. The first few minutes it releases will take months years decades to even say hey this film was actually underrated. Not good but underrated
I just went to see the movie today. It’s another solid effort from Disney. Perhaps a slight improvement from some of their most recent films. It’s no Encanto but better than Strange World. It’s Tuneful, magical and beautiful holiday fun for Disney fans young and old! Although it does have its glitches.
I do believe that Maginifico was like Asha at start wen building ROSAS, but along the way pressure changed his behaviour... its possible fairy godmother asha could've become like that had she got obsessed with her goals of wish-granting
@@HopeCvon same with Mulan and Maui in Moana. Can you please do a video about Once Upon a Studio and what it symbolizes for the history and future of Disney? I also think that the thrilling success of Elemental deserves to be mentioned. Lastly, I think we need a breakdown about the mixed quality of Disney in the 2020s.
@@ivantorojczewko8755 Either way. A box office doesn’t prove a movie is bad or not. Just look at all Disney’s other flops. Those were all good movies. And they didn’t deserve it. And neither does Wish. Just proves people are dense, when it comes to this movie. Because they’d rather join a band wagon, rather than look for the reality they are not considering.
I've gotta be honest in saying that I think Magnifico had a lot of great potential to be a better villain. I honestly don't think it's a stretch to think that Magnifico could have been a Disney villain reminiscent of the MCU's Thanos in terms of motivation. The movie introduces Magnifico's obsession with controlling wishes because he overthinks the fears of much of a threat certain wishes are. And I honestly think that could've been emphasized without the forbidden magic concept since his motivation for doing so came from bandits killing his family. The trauma could've led him to realize just how dangerous a wish for something could be, and then, in turn, take it upon himself to decide what wishes should and should not be granted. That would've made for great character development, as well as give an animated Disney villain the most tragic backstory in all of Disney. But this movie ultimately decided to turn him into a generic villain, which I feel he didn't have to be.
Great job with your presentation. Personally, I’m in the camp that says Magnifico was right and not every wish should be granted and the plot had issues in the second half but I’m still interested in what others have to say.
Hey, Isaac! Do you think you could do a video on Magnifico’s tragic backstory at some point? Despite the fact that he’s a villain, he’s probably my favorite character in the movie, and his backstory is mentioned a few times, but the movie never really explains it.
I've never subscribed to a channel like this before, but your natural gift for seeing every facet of a jewel is inspiring. I think we are stardust, too. Thank you for sharing your glow with me. I'll enjoy the movie so much more when I see it!
My theory is that the fairy god mother reveals to Sora the origin of magic in the kingdom hearts universe and sends them back in time kind of like timeless River in kingdom hearts 2, and Sora finds out Asha is actually a young fairy godmother
Wow, I just got through seeing the movie, and I was going to tweet you saying I have a whole bunch of theories, and easter eggs about this such as how King Magnifico's powers, and staff are similar to a whole lot of villains. Such as to me he was a combination of Maleficent, Jafar, Evil Queen, and Hades. Part of me wonders what happened to that evil power when it was scattering as he was being pulled in? I'm thinking what if it scattered, and it made the villains we know of today.
@@danielarivera4412 I don’t really like it when the songs are just lyrics on the screen. It’s better when they actually incorporate the songs into the movie in some way because it’s a musical is more so what I was getting at
I feel Wish could end up like Elemental (international success), but I feel Wish could benefit from having a sequel, like Frozen 2 (also in a sequel I would want Magnifico to return and get the Jafar treatment)
He is not the mirror from Snow White; it is just a rumour that somehow became popular online but it is nothing more than that. If you watch the original Snow White and see the magic mirror (or at least look at an image of him online), you will see that it looks nothing like the mirror from Wish in terms of colour, size and shape. For a start, the mirror in Snow White is very large and round shaped while the one in Wish is very small and rhomboid. Also, the mirror in Wish is not even a mirror per say; it is the tip of Magnifico's magic staff which was all that was left of it. This is where he had previously trapped the Star. Also keep in mind that Wish already has its own version of the Seven Dwarfs so it is highly unlikely that it is set in the same continuity as Disney's animated Snow White. It could, however be connected to Descendants as the Mirror in that universe does look a bit like the mirror in Wish (but they are still not exactly the same). Or maybe it could be connected to the live action Disney Snow White. In any case, there have also been Disney-released novels and one episode of Once Upon a Time that also give different versions of the origins of the Mirror and none of them is canon to the animated movie. Just alternate universes as is the case with Kingdom Hearts. It reminds me of that other rumour about Brom being the Headless Horseman in the animated version and Disney has dispelled this once and for all in Once Upon a Studio where these two appear as separate characters.
Going back to your video on Beauty and the Beast’s enchantress there’s also a connection here with Asha and Magnifico. As fairy godmother Asha is offering the guidance and tools for people to figure themselves out on their own power which is what Magnifico gets as magic mirror as he’s been dealing with his problems in unhealthy ways like outsourcing magic and milking praise and has the god complex and narcissism that he wants and deserves respect so now he’s given the “space of reflection” so he’ll either figure himself out or be trapped within himself forever. And later we see the enchantress, the beast's "fairy godmother" offering him the discipline and humbling experience as the beast with the magic mirror to see other people's perspectives. So fairy godmothers look out for people and only offer the tools of either compassion or justice for people to round themselves out. Fairy godmother can give Cinderella the dress and ride but she can't make the prince fall in love with her or make her bad situation go away forever; that's up to her and Fairy Godmother can only give her the confidence and hope to make things better. And in doing so dispenses a poetic justice to Cinderella's stepfamily as the person they abuse achieves what they covet and they're given a time-out to reflect on and work on themselves at the end.
U know, it is understandable that the king wouldn't grant every wish as there r dangerous wishes, but the wishes of Rosas r harmless. They just wanted 2 b entrepreneurs. But yeah, I really love this movie and the perfect way 2 celebrate 100 years of Disney
If anyone else noticed when watching the film, when the King gets sucked into the mirror, if you pause it just right, you see the face from the Magic Mirror from Snow white. So this theory does make sense.
genuinely, this explanation helped so much. I liked the movie, and while it could have been better, I do like the concept. I prefer some of the original concepts, but it wasn't the worst movie ever.
Asha was the nexus Walt Disney culminated timeline way beyond before his death he predicted this would happen and allowed tje stories with magic has a point of origin before snow white, sleeping beauty, and cinderella.
Isaac, hi! I'm Victoria and Wish is my absolute favorite. I am deeply saddened about the box office mixed reviews but I love it anyway. I'm not going to go see it since it references my least favorite animated Disney movie part of the Renaissance era and 1st movie Walt Disney has ever created, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, because of the Seven Teens, Dahlia, Bazeema, Hal, Gabo, Simon, Safi, and Dario, but there is one part I love about it: Valentino, my favorite G.O.A.T.! He is so cute and would make a great pet! I love how Alan Tudyk voices him and the "From one domesticated animal to another, help us!" Or "On my count! One, two, Taco Tuesday! I can't count." is just my favorite! I've been planning to collect every single Valentino plushies. Ones that talk and ones that don't talk. I only have one Valentino that looks like he's laughing at me and that really hurts my heart. I love any Valentino plushies that have any sweet or adorable expressions on his face or says one of his phrases from the movie. That's the kind of Valentino plushies I want for Christmas. And the fact that he's only three weeks old is adorable!

its so strange seeing people say they actually like this movie considering how many other videos there are where everyone talks about how mediocre the heroin is, how unimaginative the villian is especially since they were going to go with the queen being evil too, the mess of AI generated song lyrics that make no sense "i let you live here for free and i dont even charge rent" thats litereally saying the same thing twice in one sentance, was this song originally in another language and translated to english with google translate or something? tbh it doesnt feel like disney took inspiration from their other movies, it feels more like the're copying what they've already done because they cant come up with anything new
I literally haven’t seen a single trailer for this movie, I didn’t know it existed until today, I was still stuck in elemental, anybody else got that feeling? I would’ve gladly gone to the premier of this movie but I like didn’t know it existed.
She has to be before ancient Greece and Arabia . Although Aladdins times Line isn't clear accept with the cross over . But the Jinie was 10'000 before Rosa
it seems like there are so many videos and reviews condemning Wish for being flat and generic, but i feel like most people just aren't digging deep enough and failing to appreciate all these little details Disney put into it. i loved the innumerable references to other Disney movies peppered all throughout, and i didn't even realize this was meant to be an origin story of When You Wish Upon A Star and the first fairy godmother til this explanation. on top of that, the fact that it was basically a revolution against a tyrannical leader bent on controlling the populace through keeping them sheep-like made for a pretty cool moral quandary and epic plot that makes you think about real world reflections. i feel like this movie isn't getting nearly enough credit honestly, and it kinda makes me sad.
If everyone gets thier wish it would be CHAOS magnifico may not be completely right but not completely wrong . In the end sabos wish wouldve taken magnifico out of power what would you do if had power and some wish would could potentialy cause your downfall. Furthermore the queen despite being married to the guy keepd him TRAPPED ljke 20 years down the drain . Like she knew him before he was rich . She coudlve stopped him she knew he was going to open the book she coullve just yk taken AWAY THE BOOK . In her head she wanted the power he had and took it. Magnifico still had bad intentions but not intentions thst would kill people if he did 2 thingd differently he wouldnt be a villian thst he is . Theres some justification to his reasoning i bet somsones wish was to rape his 5 year old niece just saying or to own a cotton farm with slaves from some 5 year old whos in elementary school and if everyone asked to be rich . Money would be worthless and you being rich would make you poor . this should make you rethink your choices if yoh thought he was no good for rosa
It was how the whole world of Disney began!!! Well story wise oh did anyone notice that Toy Story or. Cars were not in the end credits but home on the range and other bad decisions movies were ??? And there were Coco or Brave or turning Red !!!

Pease make a video explaining the backstories to all the teens or the possible backstories they could each have. I’m curious on your view of the teens since there isn’t a lot out there about the teens from wish on the internet. The teens meaning Safi, Bazeema, Hal, Dario, Gabo, dahlia, Simon, and Asha. Also like the friendship between Safi and Bazeema seems to be more than meets the eye, so i wondered if you saw that too.
Thanks for sharing your interest about Asha's friends. They are a very interesting bunch of characters, and yeah we don't know a lot right now. I'll share whatever I find out though!
Spanish guy here: just to clarify context. In middle ages Iberic Península was having a little cultural turmoil for 700 years so habing an european utopy seems... Unlikely.
Never really liked the idea of Magnifico being the magic mirror, kindof takes away the mystery behind the magical object, you know. Not to mention it takes away alot of what made the Evil Queen...well, evil, by implying she was basically manipulated by some former king in a mirror. I also dont like the idea of Wish being a prequel. I much prefer the idea of Wish being a sequel to all of that. That way, the film could've ended with a montage of all the disney films before, implying to be wishes the Star and Blue Fairy/Fairy Godmother granted, and everything after would be wishes Asha grants.

Not perfect, sure, but good enough for me, with plenty to enjoy and appreciate. I could sense a lot of the older Disney movies' spirit in it, and I don't just mean the references. Great way to celebrate 100 years of Disney animation, in my opinion.
Wow, already knew about this. But it’s good someone is sharing more details about the setting of Wish. And how it’s like a spiritual prequel to all Disney movies.
What good timing, I just got back from watching this with my dad at the theater, and I really enjoyed it 8/10
I went with my Aunt and my rating is the same as yours
I feel like it's safe to say that Asha is the embodiment of all the previous 13 Disney princess
Why is that?
@@manuelorozco7760 people only care about new and instant gratification.
And the worst part is that thosr cinicals get more views here....
@@TaydarWhat do you mean by that?
@manuelorozco7760 it's that generally if you look at people that consume a lot of media, they immediately think the new and different is better. Anything big and flashy that instantly draws their attention. Things told as plainly as possible so they don't have to think to much. But all that doesn't mean that it's well done, just that it's different.
Of course the irony lost on these people is by going back to an older style of storytelling that actually makes it different in comparison to the modern.
Multiple Disney villains have purple with green conjuring...purple means power and green represents toxicity.
You better watch the end credits, because it’s one of the best parts of the film
@@ProWierdchamp I have. And it's another part of Disney's history in a way.
This is incredible asha was the first Disney heroine 100 of years before snow white and was the first fairy godmother of a long line centuries later thank you disney for the origin of magic.
I just saw this movie today in the theater and it was good. It was not bad and not great. The best song from the movie was “This is the Thanks I get?”
To me it’s a tie between that song and This Wish. But I’m glad we agree
I agree. “This is the Thanksgiving I Get?!” Was one of my favorite songs, too. “At All Costs” is my other favorite.
Yeah! Magnifico may be nice and friendly on the outside but on the inside he's a monster.
I think King magnifico is the magic mirror and years later the evil queen found him in the dungeon and use him
Jesus christ! Timeline are so confusing.😵💫
Wish: I'm set in the Medieval Era, so I'm the earliest Disney movie
Hercules: No, you ain't
Hercules is a myth not a fairytale.
@@HopeCvon same with Mulan and Maui in Moana. I've actually been imagining and drawing up a disneyfied version of the Achilles Trojan War story somewhat separate from Hercules, and a story involving Vietnamese mythology, and a version of Gilgamesh from Mesopotamia one of the oldest legends written down
@@donnguyen1107 Interesting
If you remember Brother Bear is the ice age and Dinosaur is the mesozoic era, Hercules ain't either lol
Wish was a great movie. I give it a 9 out of 10.
I give it 8 out of 10
Can you please do a video about Once Upon a Studio and what it symbolizes for the history and future of Disney? I also think that the thrilling success of Elemental deserves to be mentioned. Lastly, I think we need a breakdown about the mixed quality of Disney in the 2020s.
Hopefully, the box office will improve like Elemental
Hopefully better than Elemental too. Even then, it couldn’t break even.
That would be nice! Both movies were equally good
khalidhenry3857 🤣🤣 no
@@ivantorojczewko8755 Either way.
I love this movie in the Disney Library (Disney's Wish 🌠) 😊✨ ❤ Thank you Isaac Carlson it has been a magical wishful day.
You don't need every villain to be sympathetic. The best ones are just bad.
If Wish is the “1st” movie, is the “last” one already out there?
Feels like critiques re too harsh to bash this movie, it looks gorgous
I just hope we get a sequel
I think it’s one of those Disney stories that’s better left alone
Great job with your presentation. Personally, I’m in the camp that says Magnifico was right and not every wish should be granted and the plot had issues in the second half but I’m still interested in what others have to say.
I kinda wish that the Grandfather would have been the one to inspire the people to defeat Magnifico in the end.
Thank you Isaac for posting this video today! I was just told that I have a non cancerous brain tumor. This video has really brightened my day!
You where really told that? Jeez that’s harsh.
@@bravestraven4650 Yeah

@@timli1830 You’re welcome.
I would like it if they played the Disney theme song at the very end and just left it out of the opening
You make me more of a disney fan with each video! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
So the wish movie is the origin of all Disney movies in terms of wishing on stars and the first Disney heroine this is crazy. But, very cool.
Hey, Isaac! Do you think you could do a video on Magnifico’s tragic backstory at some point? Despite the fact that he’s a villain, he’s probably my favorite character in the movie, and his backstory is mentioned a few times, but the movie never really explains it.
i absolutely loved this movie and the many references I was able to spot. I don't know why people don't like it, its now on my top 10
I've never subscribed to a channel like this before, but your natural gift for seeing every facet of a jewel is inspiring. I think we are stardust, too. Thank you for sharing your glow with me. I'll enjoy the movie so much more when I see it!
Wow so that explains everything
Do this for httyd how all species and populations of dragons returned to the hidden world and lived under toothlesses rule
Wish World of Rosas for Kingdom Hearts 4. I know that'd be perfect.
My theory is that the fairy god mother reveals to Sora the origin of magic in the kingdom hearts universe and sends them back in time kind of like timeless River in kingdom hearts 2, and Sora finds out Asha is actually a young fairy godmother
I love what you do
Wow, I just got through seeing the movie, and I was going to tweet you saying I have a whole bunch of theories, and easter eggs about this such as how King Magnifico's powers, and staff are similar to a whole lot of villains. Such as to me he was a combination of Maleficent, Jafar, Evil Queen, and Hades. Part of me wonders what happened to that evil power when it was scattering as he was being pulled in? I'm thinking what if it scattered, and it made the villains we know of today.
They definitely should have worked more on the Villain and the how they incorporated the songs
I think the songs were fun I just feel like the villain should’ve been developed more
@@danielarivera4412 I don’t really like it when the songs are just lyrics on the screen. It’s better when they actually incorporate the songs into the movie in some way because it’s a musical is more so what I was getting at
@@danielarivera4412Ok I have to agree there
I feel Wish could end up like Elemental (international success), but I feel Wish could benefit from having a sequel, like Frozen 2 (also in a sequel I would want Magnifico to return and get the Jafar treatment)
You should do a video on the king being the mirror from snow white
@@vassiliapolychronaki1631he could have been swapped mirrors throughout the years
Thanks Isaac!
You know, I liked this movie. Has me thinking, often, and contains one of the studio's best ever songs (At All Costs).
As a lover of classic Disney villain green magic and Easter eggs which hint at Cinderella and sleeping beauty wish won me over 💖🌸
When you realize this is also The Magic Mirrors origin story
Defiantly want to see the movie in theatres, if not that, than I will get it on Blue-Ray!
U know, it is understandable that the king wouldn't grant every wish as there r dangerous wishes, but the wishes of Rosas r harmless. They just wanted 2 b entrepreneurs. But yeah, I really love this movie and the perfect way 2 celebrate 100 years of Disney
That one kid who wish for warhammer 40k
Aladdin looks it takes place before wish around the time of ancient Greece with Hercules.
I am glad this explanation helped! I'm happy I could share it with you!
Nice it seems Disney is on track now
Asha was the nexus Walt Disney culminated timeline way beyond before his death he predicted this would happen and allowed tje stories with magic has a point of origin before snow white, sleeping beauty, and cinderella.

I really enjoyed Wish - one of my top Disney movies in a long time 😊
Wish is my favorite Disney movie!🤩

My favorite characters from Wish are : King Magnifico and Asha.⭐
Asha is soooooooooo beautiful!💜
King Magnifico is soooooooooo handsome and hot!💚
its so strange seeing people say they actually like this movie considering how many other videos there are where everyone talks about how mediocre the heroin is, how unimaginative the villian is especially since they were going to go with the queen being evil too, the mess of AI generated song lyrics that make no sense "i let you live here for free and i dont even charge rent" thats litereally saying the same thing twice in one sentance, was this song originally in another language and translated to english with google translate or something? tbh it doesnt feel like disney took inspiration from their other movies, it feels more like the're copying what they've already done because they cant come up with anything new
This video made me even more sad the story of the medieval/first wish concept didn't come through the final film
It actually did. They just weren’t so on the nose about it. The concept is actually there.
Oh my God I haven't been here since Wotso videos

Basically Brazil's mother African. Father's Portugal and Spain.
Asha is my favorite Disney villain
I never knew that there was a movie called wish. So it's a spoiler alert for me but I'm okay with that. Thanks Isaac!

The decision to make a movie where there are wish granting magic and flying talking stars take place in our world is really bizarre
Hi lsaac Carlson 👋

If yu go back to when magnifico is sucked into that staff yu can see the mask who speaks in the mirror to the qween in snow white
The very first film in Disney animation???
"Dinosaur" would like a word 😂😂😂
Just kidding. Your content is awesome!
Well the dinosaurs never wished on a star before their extinction so Wish is the first
I think Wish was good and I liked the ending were Asha became the first Fairy godmother.
