I remember beginning work at a care home and trying to get to know the residents and give them some personal attention and being taken aside by the person training me. “We aren’t here to be their friends, we get things done” I was dumbfounded and didn’t take it to heart whatsoever. Yes, there are cares and ADL’s to complete but no one can tell me people would not rather have someone do it lovingly and treat them as a valuable soul, whatever their level of ability.

Wow! She remembers Jesus, I instantly thought of Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in a way he should go... It was beautiful to see her singing along to these old school hymns. I've been teaching my sons these hymns since they were young too. God bless these ladies.

I love this video so much. Patience, are, affection, an unexpected yet happy and amazing moment, all in one. This woman could have been retired but she instead continued to work hard and dilligenlty with a perfect balance of the care and affectionate us humans need beginning of life to the end (the end of "this" which we will never know until time to take a number and and a seat in a waiting room ala Beetlejuice haha) Anyway, I'm sure she enjoys this work though 😊, she has a gift and I doubt she is doing it for publicity and lots of moolah. I believe every do often, a person is born (or sent to begin this phase of existence?) and they just have this extraordinary gift that just comes to them when the time is right in the person's lifetime to be able to start understanding it and eventually as we've all noticed I'm sure, said person gradually and then BAM finds what they were given thus gift for. Could be to inspire, to give back, a warning, education, a message. Anyhoo, hopefully somebody got me if they even were crazy like myself to bother reading that lol. As my mother lay dying in the hospital of Alzheimer's I sang that same song to her and she finally opened her eyes after 4 days of not, as her last breath was being taken I held her and saying Jesus loves you yes I know for the Bible tells me so! I did not let the fact that she was passing stop me from singing and singing, I saw this video once before years ago thank you, you are a blessed woman
I now take care of a woman at home now who has Alzheimer's and I'm very loving with her and tell her that I love her and I hold her hand and speak with her. Her son hired me only recent that I learned he was an ordained minister, our Father puts us right where we are needed,

May this wonderful therapist recognize, and KNOW her Messiah before her last day here... It's apparent to me that He is using her, and He is working through her to comfort others. I work in a nursing home for over 15 years and I would have my lunch in the rooms of the patient some talk some didn’t I just enjoy it and now I am older and understand from this end God bless us all!!!
I have worked with Alzheimer's patients for several years and have always been slow in my movements and did everything I could to show love and give comfort to them. Hand holding, hugs, listening (even when they are making no real sense) etc... Always knew that even if they couldn't speak anymore, they were still in there somewhere. I could feel their "vibe." This video touched my heart and soul. When Gladys actually started to sing along I couldn't hold back the tears anymore. I plan to use some of the techniques shared and definitely will begin to sing and/or play music (from their era, of course!) for my clients more often!! Absolutely loved this video. ❤

Sitting here,watching, in tears. That reminds me of my mother some years ago. My mother couldn’t talk, didn’t know who I was, but she knew who Jesus is. My mother taught Sunday school for decades. She knew every hymn by heart. If someone played the piano, she would sing the hymns, knew every word. What that told and reinforced watching this touching video, is that Jesus is, period. Everything else is gone, but not him, he remains. I take great comfort in knowing that my mother is in my future, not in my past. I will be where she has already gone. The lady that spent time with that dear soul, is wonderful, God Bless her!
My mom 63 too died this way and now so am I 46 and my son 23 as we found out it is genetic and we are terminal. She responded the same up until she passed she would sing with the old hymns as she left her body. I hope as I progress in this terminal illness that I and my son will both find the same Peace in Jesus at our last breath. Please pray for my son and my family as they are struggling with the loss of our minds as we die and go home to Heaven if we accept the free gift of Jesus and his payment for our sins. I have no fear because of Jesus paid the ultimate price for me to be changed to being able to go be where he has made a place for us. This was a video that shows the love God commands we should have for every person and I was so blessed to see my mother respond in like kind at her time. I implore those of you who don't know Jesus or think it is just some old religious thing please read the scriptures and pray and seek the truth of what is shown and being witnessed to by many on this video for yourself. If you seek the truth with love you will find what we all really want in life and the one after. May this video and the comments make people see true love and to seek the Creator of it all. God never forgets His children and even in their difficult times they never forget Him!!! Thank You Jesus! We met Ms. Foster at the nursing home & she became like a grandma to our Family. She's been gone for several years, but my family will never forget Ms. Foster. We loved her & she loved us. We would talk, pray, & sing together. Her hugs were the best😃. Her smile was beautiful & she loved the Lord. She was the pianist at her ⛪️ before retiring & moving to the assisted living facility. She had a stroke & was paralyzed on her left side but still had a burning passion for Jesus! Hallelujah!! Once the nurses were late bringing her to worship service. She wanted to be in the Lord's House, so with her good leg she dragged herself down the hall in her wheelchair. I saw her & asked why didn't you wait for help? She said they took too long& I couldn't wait! So I helped her & she made it in. Thank You Jesus 🙌. Lord help us to crave Your House of Worship! In her earlier years, she couldn't talk for a long period of time. Oh, but she could talk good once we met her & everyone knew her story. Every time she met someone she would always say, I couldn't talk for a long time but God healed me & now I'm talking real good now aren't I? 😊. I would say yes you are! I can still hear voice & miss her smile 😀. I hurt as I miss her😭. What a blessing she was to our family! Now she's in Heaven talking real good & always on time for worship. What an inspiration!!

Please do!! Alzheimer and dementia patients are the least visited of all. It is very sad to see how they are essentially abandoned by their own families.
Lexilea68 This did make me weep but I also felt good about the way I chose to look after my lovely old neighbour Betty , the best way to change her anxiety when she would want to see her Mother and sister , ( both had died years beforehand ) was to sing old songs from the wartime era or Christmas Carols or old music hall tunes . When I worked for 2 yrs with profoundly handicapped adults and children I used to be amazed when some couldn't speak or maintain eye contact, or fixated on self harm and yet gentle music such as Chopin or ballads would have a calming influence. One of the young women would sit at the piano and play jazz perfectly yet she had never been able to talk , read , write or function because of severe brain damage as a baby , the brain is still a mystery and very underfunded especially as such a high percentage of people are terrified of having Alzheimers or Dementia. Why ?

Thank you my mom died from this on December 13, 2019. It made me cry cause it was like watching my mom struggle to heard, to be touched, to be loved, to not be left alone and to feel that even if it was for a short time I was there we were there together and she had those moments every now and then and I knew she was okay for that short passage of time ...

My mother died from Alzheimer's just over two years ago. Gladys' repetitive motion reminds me of what mom used to do. I was one of only a very few people she recognized to the near end. This brought me a little bit of happiness to see Gladys able to be reached. I couldn't imagine the frustration of being trapped inside my own body.

This video touched my heart and I've cried for so long, because I thought I was alone and no one would umderstand how much it hurts to see you mom like that. But looking at the comments it gave me some hope that I am not alone in all of this.

In her earlier years, she couldn't talk for a long period of time. Oh, but she could talk good once we met her & everyone knew her story. Every time she met someone she would always say, I couldn't talk for a long time but God healed me & now I'm talking real good now aren't I? 😊. I would say yes you are! I can still hear voice & miss her smile 😀. I hurt as I miss her😭. What a blessing she was to our family! Now she's in Heaven talking real good & always on time for worship. What an inspiration!!

I met so many great souls by going to a nursing home. i strongly suggest you do it , you won't regret it ;)
Please do!! Alzheimer and dementia patients are the least visited of all. It is very sad to see how they are essentially abandoned by their own families.

Lexilea68 This did make me weep but I also felt good about the way I chose to look after my lovely old neighbour Betty , the best way to change her anxiety when she would want to see her Mother and sister , ( both had died years beforehand ) was to sing old songs from the wartime era or Christmas Carols or old music hall tunes . When I worked for 2 yrs with profoundly handicapped adults and children I used to be amazed when some couldn't speak or maintain eye contact, or fixated on self harm and yet gentle music such as Chopin or ballads would have a calming influence. One of the young women would sit at the piano and play jazz perfectly yet she had never been able to talk , read , write or function because of severe brain damage as a baby , the brain is still a mystery and very underfunded especially as such a high percentage of people are terrified of having Alzheimers or Dementia. Why ?

Thank you my mom died from this on December 13, 2019. It made me cry cause it was like watching my mom struggle to heard, to be touched, to be loved, to not be left alone and to feel that even if it was for a short time I was there we were there together and she had those moments every now and then and I knew she was okay for that short passage of time ...

My mother died from Alzheimer's just over two years ago. Gladys' repetitive motion reminds me of what mom used to do. I was one of only a very few people she recognized to the near end. This brought me a little bit of happiness to see Gladys able to be reached. I couldn't imagine the frustration of being trapped inside my own body.
doubleg137 my mother is 88 and she is in her late stage of Alzheimer. Some days are good some days she can't even recognize me. This video touched my heart and I've cried for so long, because I thought I was alone and no one would umderstand how much it hurts to see you mom like that. But looking at the comments it gave me some hope that I am not alone in all of this.
