- (G Harmonica) The best guys for this are Joe filisko, Richard Sleigh, Grant Dermondy, Peter "Mad Cat" Ruth, and Charlie Mcoy Sonny Terry etc...However I thought I'd take a crack at teaching something out of my normal bag for anyone interested. But to really hear it done right listen to those guys \. also all the old pre war harp players those guys got it from!!

One of the first!!!
I'm number 600 likes! This guy deserves it though. He is a good teacher. Really got a lot out of this. I like how it wasn't over complicated. He really just kindly shared his methods for making these sweet ass sounds.
avinamusikma Thank you very much I was still young and new to teaching !
Jason Ricci: Harmonica Legend, UA-cam OG, and fashion pioneer!
You were showing incredible promise long before I ever picked up a harp. I feel super lucky that you're willing to share all that with us, now.
Thank you Levi! SOOOOO NICE!!!
Best comment

he´s cute ;)
I so ready to show this to my class as we discuss Harmonica Blues, until the "fox" cursed.
Frances Kranik sorry Francis the fox knows no censorship...
It's ok, I just thought, they would really relate to you. Trying to make my History of rock n roll fun and interesting, while still teaching history. I'm learning! You have some amazing skills!
Maybe Ill make them a video all their own? Is there a deadline?
We have moved on, but if you make it, I will show it and tell them you made it for them and other students. ☺
mate you're super good and this is quite helpful, but lose the fox it's just creepy
yee ha
This still blows me away. I watch it once in a while to give me a goal to strive for. You've been great for a LONG time.
Awe man thank you so much thank you for watching all this time!
Sober is ALWAYS better! Thats one reason I haven't done any drugs or booze in ten years. great thing can happen when your high...but you can't count on it, are never sure of it, and usually can't repeat it. sober is cooler because your playing becomes much ,more cohesive and what you are playing 8 bars later usually still relates to what you played 8 bars earlier.
Good question!
J
You're cute : ) and I learn things from you.
Thanks for the tutorial!!
Also: silly fox.
Regardless of your...um...guest instructor's interjections, I love to come back to this video every so often. My train rhythm is plenty solid, but you are always a great source for "coloring" approaches, enhancing the basic rhythm with a wonderful variety of sub-rhythms and mini-melodies. I've been at it for eleven years, and I'm still learning from material you put out before I started. Great stuff!
Your harp playing is rad but your puppeteering is frigging hilarious
Dismissing whole genras as dumb is dumb. Sure, some genras have move integrity and history than others, and take more talent and dedication to get into, but if you think there aren't smart people making inspired music in almost every genre your not getting as much out of music as you possibly could. Each to their own.
Ah, nostalgia! I miss those days.
Love your haircut and this color!! ❤️🦊
lol we need a reprise of this! Bring the fox as well 🥳🔥
Dude, that is the coolest thing ever! Please , please, please please do more! ( WITH THE FOX!!)
Ahh...another Fox hater...Glad you liked the harmonica...For an old reply to all fox haters you should check out a follow up video I made called : The Fox "Puppet" speaks and harmonica case, 020.

You are too funny!! I love this video!! Did you tongue block all of this except the chords? I love these rhythms and all you're doing with them.

Is any of that done with air just in your mouth, or is that all from the gut?
Nós piramos no seu som e habilidade , estamos aqui no Brasil, viajamos no seu vídeo, você fala rápido pra porra e toca pra caralho! Como dizemos aqui: "tamo" aí na atividade! Fabi e Pipous

The Sonny Terry Fox-chase recordings are incredible. IF you could duplicate the playing...[oh man]...THEN you get into the falsetto whoops.

😆
Well, you're not a very good ventriloquist but you're a great teacher, you're one of the few people i've seen explain music well =)
You're an excellent teacher. We all get old and fat. Embrace it!
mjmrik.....amen to that
Jason:
Still love this! Working it...
Can you try to minimize your foot pounding on these tapes?
Thanks, bro.
- Paul
You are awesomer for saying so...
Jason, your playing rules. Watching your lessons is supreme entertainment in itself even if one is completely without the motivation to learn to play. Thank you so much for this. I love the hand puppet thing also and saw Buckethead do something similar in his very avant garde guitar lesson video, also on youtube. Did he get the idea from you or you from him or am I wrong on either count?
thanks jason!! the video is amazing
the very best train lesson
sorry my englishh
very very nice
how do you build speed chugging. I always feel like im stuck in molasses no matter how much I practice
its tounge blocking stuff for the wavy w vibratto and the hand stuff can work like a horn bell or wah
I like that word "tickataa"....but couldn't find in my Funk & Wagnals. ;>0~
I CRAVE ANOTHER "G" type trot/chug type video brother hope you can help!!!???
peace and take care!!
I made the tabs for the cool sounding lick at 3:28!
Here they are:
-3 -3'3 2 3 -3 -4 -3 2 3 -3'3
Hey my friend, what kind of harp were you playing in this video? Is it a marine band or something else?
Hohner Golden Melody with a fancy comb!
Awesome man, I love the sound you were getting from it and a very echoing room
Appreciate you!!!
@@jasonricci thank you sir, I appreciate you too!
The tutorial was a bit ridiculous, and i agree with the peacock comment, but damn you're good.
It was smoke house Brown!
Great! Especially well communicated tips, you'd be a good teacher at anything, dude. Communication is king.
Ok I'll get on that this month.
J

I had trouble paying attention. That massive cowlick is distracting.
Hey pazzman...it's all in thhe gut...I have tried like hell in vain to the mouth/recycled air thing mostly to disprove it's validity yet so far cannot do it! I think it may be like a rolling your "r's" type thing! Glad you like the fox and thanks for watching...more vids coming soon!
J
