50th birthday today and I got a C Blues harp from a pal. Before 30 minutes ago "The Fire Engine Siren" was the only harp number in my repertoire. I know I've jumped the gun, but Mr Gindick, you have already got me making a musical sound that will impress my (easily impressed I admit) mates at our fortnightly jams. Now I'd best get down to the basics,,,, Thanks very much.
thanks a million for this, ive searched everywere for someone to show me how to do this...and not only that, but you explain it so well.keep em coming , am lookin out for you, from now on. K NEL am so made up, great ,brill, sound,
Thank you Jon your lessons have helped me get a good start. The sound was not where I thought it was at first but after practising your style I am getting somewere.
Finaly! Easy to understand and after 10 minutes watching this video and trying it there are coming some nice sounds out of my MS Blues Harp C :))) Thanks man!! I' ll check out all your videos. Many thanks!
Love it Jon. If I could go back all those years when I started I'd work on chugging and rhythm playing. Problem was only way I could learn was from albums and there was hardly any of that on the albums I got my hands on.
Hey John thanks a lot for this lesson. I´m from down south...from Down south the USA because i´m from latin-america. Been harping for a couple of months and i´m starting to get the hang of it. well I wanted to tell you that you have been a great inspiration, from this youtube videos and from your "rock and lbues hamronicas" books. Well I really wish you keep uploading videos for those of us who can´t go to a Jam Camp. peace, and thanks Camilo
MY GOD! You are such an effective teacher. I trying to practice chugging and I always lose my breath and even actually run out of breath when I try doing it fast. I guess a lot of practice will help improve my playing. But I'm just curious..... does harp playing requires the player to breath only through the harmonica especially when playing really fast? I mean, is there such a thing as a "cheat" in breathing? Thanks!!!
Could you make a video of jamming with djembes basic rithm for example, please? It could help me loads as my friends carry just djembes when we go out in the streets of london, and im the one that needs to make the solo bit and i get stuck since i dont know a nice rithm/mellody to follow.
how does he got high notes like that on the 1 side of the harp? I'm a first time harmonica player trying to get into this, my harps are ok, but by no means pro status. im pretty sure there is a way to get the high note like he does though
yeah ur deadly bud i just got a super chromonica 270 , chordomonica 1(both vintage were my grandads), but hard to learn on gunna buy a c blues harp and and try jam up, can u recommend any good diatonic harmonica good to learn how to bend notes on? im new. thnx
The tongue blocking trips me up. I use my tongue for vibratos so much that I have a hard time keeping my tongue still enough to effectively block. I'll have to work on that.
I'm sorry, I must have missed the part where you're a professional harp player and this guy's not giving descriptive lessons on technique and the thought process behind the way you play. But you already knew that...
There is a light around this man.
Unselfish and always giving of himself.
I wish Jon Gindick the best.
why would eleven idiots dislike this excellent video? This one lesson improved my playing in so many aspects.
12 now! It was rather low quality video I suppose, who knows!
Thanks Jon..Been following your teachings since '87!
