Jason, there is so much in just this lesson alone, and I want to say that I appreciate you. To put this kind of truly helpful stuff online - for free - is tremendous. You're a good human, Jason. Thank you.
Great video. I think there is one typo in the notes shown on the screen. At about the 16:15 mark for Pedal Point, the second note says 3b (for 3 blow), but you meant for it to show as 3 draw half step bend, correct?
Jason, just want to let you know how much your videos mean to me. Even though I'm a year late on this one, it's what I'm working on now. I've been practicing the major pentatonic for the last month with your videos and there's still a long way to go. I never thought about scales much and just wailed away, not worrying about subtle differences in bending. I had a lot of fun and entertained a lot of friends, but when I started playing again it was just the same old shit. Still getting a grasp on all the theory stuff, but I'm coming along. Thanks for all you do brother, it's teaching an old dog new tricks! Your UA-cam lessons are my inspiration to keep on hairpin! 🙏🎶
I’ve been playing for like a LONG time and I pretty much have stagnated and not really learned anything new for like at 8 years, and this video has been one of the absolute most helpful things I’ve ever seen.
I really am learning tons of useful stuff from your most recent vids done in '21! Jason, ur a great teacher, very patient, with details from basic to sophisticated playing techniques. I learned my basics from you several years ago, & these newer vids are further evidence of your expertise. Thanx!!!
Pat Ramsey-we can fly and it’s about time. Those songs are where I first learned pedal point in the haaaaap so nice. Dude sounds like a muted saxophone
Amazing, i didn't think the pedal point was that easy to understand, your way to explain is awesome Jason, the only problem is not to have enough time for practicing all the good material you give to us every friday, thanks a lot dude!
Tons of great stuff. Most of it even i can make work (a bit). Never knew about Pedal Point. Thats cool enuff to put some work into. The backing track is really good too play with too. I'd never have recognized how much can be done with it without you showing it. Thanks so much!
Hello Jason, First i wanna say, it was really fun for me to see what you have to say about funky harmonica. Second the idea of transferring licks from lowe to middle its and using 3' its like whole new world for me ! it reminds me of call and response from Gussow lessons!
Thank You Jason! There are a lot of very cool blues players around and a huge amount of good music energy in the air. But Your‘s is different. I listen to a lot of stuff. I enjoy it. But the music I want to play on my harmonicas is almost Your music. Thanks Sir
Haunting sweet tone in the opening tune - that's blues man. Every note sounded like a blue note. Thanks for another great video Jason. Really excited to try the pedal tone idea - it has a rootsy sound kind of like traditional celtic with a deep blues undertone.
Incredible Jason as usual love that have you tried inversion because it sounds like that piano lessons scales like pentatonic scales go to the next then forward inversion great to help with melody thanks again Jason Howie wishing you a prosperous 2025 happy new year peace ✌️
Amazing tutorial! Like I said in the premiere.. time to annoy the girlfriend all day working on sharpening up my diatonic playing 😅😅 and it's all thanks to you lmao cheers bro!
@@jasonricciThanks for your answer Jason. I guessed it was a custom comb and I visited the Blue Moon website. Now I'm toying with the Idea of improving my Special 20s ! Thank you again, Jason, and take care.
Ever since your last upload Abt practice I've been more aware of things I'm doing just cuz I'm used to doing that,, not because I planned on it PS Do you feel sax is harder or easier. Or different completely?
hi Jason, i've tried to sign up to make a donation to your Patreon fund but the website won't seem to allow me to. Don't know if anyone else has had problems? Very many thanks for the lessons, they're amazing!
Couldn't attend yesterday but very helpful as always. Thanks, Mooncat. By the way, if I may be so bold. I've always wondered if "Ricci" is an Italian name? I'm a profesisonal translator for German, English and Spanish, so such things always ring a bell inside me. Sorry if I'm too straight with that. :)
A couple of questions Sir, I have a C harmonica. When you give a lesson in another key, can I play the same lesson in my key of C ? And, I practicing the minor pentatonic scale and the blues scale the most. I'm nowhere close to your skill level. If I continue working those two scales, will my playing skills increase?
Here i gaux. little history on me. I found an old wood comb hohner in golden gate park back in 2010is, give or take.. Played that for 5 years straight by ear except I did research bending.. Stopped playing harmonica and a cpl yrs later I had plenty of time to learn something I chose guitar and obsessed 7-8 straight a day That's when I learned Abt scales soon I started playing harp again while focused on guitar, I never in looked into harmonica scale it didn't cross my mind and know one mentioned in it. However the reason for this comment is. I'm having trouble focusing on repetition of scales on harmonica. The guitar scales seemed come easily.. And at the same time I was more focused on practice at the time of learning guitar
I can't thing of any player out there that uses the humble pentatonic scale so creatively as Mr. Mooncat Ricci; and he calls it "basic uses of the minor pentatonic" LOL

Hey Jase, that real staccato sixteenth note stuff accessable to those of us who tongue block?
I don't believe so although others will tell yes without demonstrating it. In other word I have yet to hear it.
Check out my video on tongue blocking vs lip pursing

So is this
the scale used in playing Arabian music?
Not necessarily. There are others that would be better for that but this one im sure would work ok for some...
