Marco Minnemann never fails to disabuse me of my equilibrium.
He's actually a very good guitar and keyboard player, as well.
His solo albums are just that. He does everything.
if I ever need an entertaining drum solo to just kick back and enjoy I always come back to this one. its just sick
Dear god!
The ride sounds so good.
I can see why he was nominated for drummer in dream theater.
He has a nice jazzy style going here with lots of polyrythms and modern drum style.
Great drummer definitely !
MARCO MY FAV DRUMMER
What a master.... I'm speechless
He was great back then, but he is even better now.
Zajebisty wymiatacz! Jakie solo jest różnorodne, pokazuje różne zagrania kombinacje co za dynamika gry! Śmiało może grać w każdym zespole z tymi kosmicznymi wręcz zdolnościami!
Man, this guy just loves to play his instrument. Great player.
That K ride sounds unbelievable
With the sheer coordination/ chops he has, the kit's size doesn't matter. Haven't you ever seen neil peart or carl palmer play a solo on just a snare drum? They will do with one drum what many fools cant with 20. Marco is on their level and when he is their age he will probably surpass even them.
This is GREAT!
Paul Gilbert saw the reflection of himself when he dragged this guy to his band years ago before The Aristocrats era!
Wow this has been up for a year and only has just over 6000 views..
Would love to see him live
Geile Übergänge...
Auch die Idee mit der Mischung von swing und straight rhythm am Anfang, richtig geil
after watching this......I have a long long way to go!!
still love it!!
magical!
brilliant!!!!
He's a complete MACHINE!
I wouldnt mind having that kit...and those skills
1:32... just an awesome groove.
I was lucky to see the best drummers in the world but other than Dave and or with Dave he is the best. I love the complex style and that is how I drum.
Nice!
that is what i call knowing your way around your kit.
2 years later 100 000 views!
I wish I was this man.
I got kinda "seasick" on the first 2 mins... For Real! Marco must have 2 brains to split up arms and legs so well. Awesome
i love his snare sound o_O
We're not worthy! We're not worthy!
My Lord! Lionel Messi on the drums!!!
Perhaps in a different way, but we are talking about "Buddy Rich" level right here!
He is ASTONISHING!!!
no beard... no mustache.... he's not marco
He's dancing!
I once acted as translator for one of his clinics. Standing about 3 feet from the guy while he soloed. Felt like I was standing next to the messiah
So much control... my god.
he should've been in dream theater.
lolwut? at the end of this video was he useing 1 foot for that bass part, with heel-toe or no? o.o
guy took notes from Donati n Lang..sounds great but those two are in different levels Specially with the feet..best on planet earth
fucking good.
I’d do anything to take lessons from this dude.
il est coupé en deux le mec ?
How is it possible that someone disslike this?
are those just G1s?
He's much more groovy than thomas lang. Marco Minnemann is just amazing he is now on my favorite drummer list
5:40 Awesome Cymbal Solo :) :O
schwaggggggggggggggg
genius
a glimpse into the future...the day Asimo learns the drumset.
He is God, I said.
me to
Haha dope!
@Spacecowboyy i'm agree
3:45,is that a mistake? 🤔😏
he looks so skinny and young!
Sam Rockwell on the drums!
¿Sería excesivo decir que es el mejor baterista hoy en día? XD
what the hell. I need to change my pants now.
Same level?? PLEASE!!! Mangini is a Drum master, Minnemann is a Music master.
marco tiene como 5 cerebros, es un genio!
WHY ARE YOU NOT IN DREAM THEATER!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
So fast the camera can barely keep up and focus on some of those runs!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Does anyone remember Spud (Ewen Bremner) from Trainspotting? Looks a hellova lot like Minnemann. Will Farrell and Bremner should write some funny skit using Minnemann and Chad Smith. Then maybe Marco would get some proper mainstream recognition for being the drumming monster that he is.
Sonny Longbeard genius idea, almost too genius
Holy poly-rhythms batman!!!
you are right Deke, but for me could be more than that i can probably never reached those skills i am almost 46 and started at 41 so there is a long way man, but i wont quit if i can get 30 % of his skills that will be enough
i like how hes not cliche with it!!:p
In live is ten times better i swear!!!
@DsN92ObZen Nooo! ;) Enjoy your own skills, and enjoy the Masters! Don't mess with the Best! Be happy that there are such good musicians, entertaining us with good music! Making your own music is great, but i'm happy with my favorite Bands. Beeing honest - the good bands/composers/musicians satisfy me completely!
steve from bluesclues
i swear this guy looks just like paul gilbert in many ways
Is he actually a "lefty-hand"-drummer? Never thought of it really, he always got 2 hi-hats and almost never crosses hands in regular hi-hat beats...
I almost with Minnemann was picked for the Dream Theater drummer because of his personality. Mike's a great guy, but Marco would add more to the live experience imo.
***** I agree, I didn't say anything about Minneman being a better drummer. Just for live shows :p
***** I don't reach back that far bro :p
***** I know they are influenced by Rush, not many others though. I'm only 13, so I don't know a ton about the 70's, obviously ;).
***** Dream Theater was the first band I really got into, I listened to some Brian Setzer, Blind Melon, and beatles when I was younger, but then I got into DT, that led to Queensryche, which led to Haken, which led to Genesis, and that somehow led to Filter and Faith no more... I agree though, most of my friends listen to such crappy music. One listens to AC/DC, but he still likes dubstep :|. Country though, ewwwwwww. Anyway, Dream Theater is the best rock/metal (Prog metal, I know, but I can't think of any better rock or metal bands either) ever.
***** Yeah, I've tried listening to country and electronic music a lot before, listened to a Tim McGraw album 5 times to see if I could get it, if it would grow on me. Never. I don't tell people they're stupid or anything for not liking DT, but on the inside I just think they are weird, I don't hate them. I just wonder how they could like that stuff, but then I think "why can't I like country", so I don't argue with them.
TAKE IT AWAY MARCO!
scarified
Yeah man!!
@badmotorscooter1000 It got him paid and a DVD made about his ability. Can you say that about anything you've done?
i'd like ta try, looks like a fun place where much can originate, i'm sure i could buuuuuusssss on'it- someday i will manifest 1'a ma own! M.M. ge'in fizzzunky wid'it-- \m/
They're on the same level technically, anything else is purely subjective.
Anyone else want tiny hi-hats?
if everybody did how he is told - where is the innovation and creativity?
It'd be funny if he started out saying before the solo: "Well, basically, it' goes like this".
So Christian Bale in The Machinist?
@badmotorscooter1000 Check out his drumming in a musical setting and you'll have your answer.
Jesus
4:40 seems Greb inspired!
joining dream theater would ruin this guy. bite my shinny metal ass. mike patton should do something with marco.
Andrew Roberts FORREAL I will never get the hype
I kept waiting for this to get cool.....still waiting
Yea you're right. go watch some Travis barker videos. You obviously don't get it.
I didn't know that Christian Bale Was a drummer too. .....
well actually he is go watch the big short bales actually thrash metal drumming haha
or maybe steve from blues clues.
i wonder if theres a point where you get so far into drumming, you forget the basic 4/4
jazz music :D and gospel
Joey Jordison shouldn't watch this video.
Damn this is good!
Oh look! Christian Bale on drums!
@pygmygrizzly Your right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!dream theater is shit !!!!We know how Mike Patton works though he there everywhere never sticking to one agenda but a Marco Minnemann Mike Patton ???? Trio would be fucking blisssssssssssss
I'm not saying this guy doesn't have skill, but to someone who doesn't understand much about dynamics, this just looks like he's banging around on the kit for half the video.
well that is just all drumming "in a nutshell"
Maybe not, dude... keep in your head that all you have to do is play correctly the songs your band plays. Don't worry about drum solos! When they happen in a show, they are less than 1% of it. When you be called to play in a band or following an artist, probably the last thing they're gonna ask you is drum solo.
What is your point?
Wahoooo suprrrr..
I love Lars Ulrich. Without him, I may have never picked up the sticks. I know he's not the best, but also not the worst.
He's like the Rodney Mullen of drumming.
