Guy pulled a knife on me several years ago I just stayed calm till I managed to distract him and flee. Best to run if you can. If you cannot you better pray he don't hurt you. Good video. 👍
Wow. I love your philosofy... If one feels they will not win the fight, they will use weaponry. "Up their game for survival." Because no one wants to lose a fight. Whether its a bad guy or a good guy. No one wants to be defeated. Everyone wants to survive. Hmmm definitely the reason people use legally and / or illegally illicit weaponry on the streets.
GI Jane Capt Jane Very true, and there's actually footage out there of people losing fights, who just suddenly turn around and end up almost or actually stabbing the other person to death... Wether or not they were initially in the wrong, it goes to show how fast things can turn to utter shit if you're not paying attention to their hands.
Agiranto did you not watch the video? this is about a specific Close quarter situation. there is another video on this channel relating to exactly what you are talking about. :)
Thankfully I’m in America. I don’t have to fight against a knife attack I can defend myself with full force. Also never try judge weather someone is try to threaten you or kill you after they have pulled a knife on you. Treat any attack like your life depends on it.
Yeah you're in America so a guy will shoot you from his hotel balcony with a semi-automatic weapon or sniper rifle, that's much better. You can do matrix movements to defend yourself. Good point.
There was literally just a stabbing down the road from my school today. It was 2 people that got stabbed. A helicopter even landed in our school field from the Hospital
I was thinking exactly that! That would be great because the eyes are so vulnerable and the pain is intense, but still be weary, even if you get the finger strike in the eye, he still may try to follow up with the knife.
OK . I agree with controlling the hands of your opponent as you say later on the video, but you should never catch like this your opponent hand , who holds a knife , with both of your hands like you did at 2:57 . First of all, because he can push his hand with his knee and get the knife threw your body (if you know what I'm trying to say, if not sry I can't explain it better ) and secondly because he can just punch you with his left arm . If you mean that this is wrong though then I agree with you .
I suppose another thing to look out for there is them just switching the knife from that hand to the other free hand and then stabbing you there, but I guess the idea wouldn't be to stay in that position and move the knife hand away from his body, like with that other trap he did.
Although I love BJJ this is exactly why I feel like it's not great for self defense. When a person begins losing a fight they get desperate and will do anything to win and if they pull out a weapon and your attempting an armbar or triangle choke your screwed
Well I like your opinion Sifu ! I'm Kenpo and Wing Chun . If the knife is all ready out I have an idea as to what to do. Mr Parker,Planis and Mr Klemish said "if the hand goes in it doesn't come out !' How would you handle a "hooking slash"? Thanks Sifu !
1:47 It's alright, George (if thats the right name) is like the T -1000, he's so conditioned to all this by now, he just shrugs it off like its nothing!! lol Anyway I agree with both those methods, jamming the knife before it comes out and trapping the arms (Nick Drossos teaches pretty much the same too). Normally if the knife is already out, I'd prefer a long improvised weapon of some sort to help manage the distance, but I can understand it might not be possible if you're in a place like the tube where you're all boxed in, or you're at that confrontation distance and don't have the time. I don't know how you guys deal with summer down there, I can't even handle it up here!! (Scotland) Anyway thanks again Sifu!! 😀😀
Ha ha... George is getting tougher. Agreed you have to equalise a weapon. We've had some hot weather in London this summer. With lots of irritated people.
Have you any advice on controlling or at least adapting to the affects of adrenaline, when in a confrontation? For an experienced fighter, does it ever get easier the more martial training you do?
I think as your experience increases so does your ability to cope with adrenaline. Regardless of your experience you will are always be subjected to adrenaline dumps. Situational specific training is better for this, if you train for self defence. If you train to compete then lots and lots of heavy sparring will help. Have a great day. Thanks for watching.
That's a pretty funny way of saying it! but there is some truth in that, sadly. Knife attacks are becoming a lot more frequent. That and something completely new to our countries : acid attacks.
Nigel, have you noticed the increased rates if knife attacks in London? If I am correct we are up to over 100 deaths by knife attacks this year. Carrying a knife is illegal but using it is on the increase.

Smart man
You slapped the hell out of the guy😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😅

Here's an example of what I mean by people esculating to knives attacks: ua-cam.com/video/SB-ouscrl94/v-deo.html
Very sad example...
Fight SCIENCE that's exactly the one I was thinking of actually ^^
The thing is knife strike never comes alone. Usually there are multiple stabings one after another so it's extremely hard to "catch" the hand

Not if u follow the hips j the elbow. Its all connected. Athletes know this especially from playing bball

@DoublEE 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Death by cheese burger
Thankfully some of us are not in America.
Don't everyone prefer semi automatic guns in America?
Yeah you're in America so a guy will shoot you from his hotel balcony with a semi-automatic weapon or sniper rifle, that's much better. You can do matrix movements to defend yourself. Good point.
I have good respect for this guy, I'd love to have him as a SD teacher
There was literally just a stabbing down the road from my school today. It was 2 people that got stabbed. A helicopter even landed in our school field from the Hospital
London didn’t have a serious knife issue 50 years ago, wonder what happened?
What a slap 😂😂😂
Short but precise information that’s potentially life saving. Great video Sifu. Would be good to do some more knife defence.
.... that slap though!
Really important entrocate details there that could help save your life ...really good vid Sifu as always :-)
I love all your videos no BS self defense.
When would you use finger jab to the eyes.
I was thinking exactly that! That would be great because the eyes are so vulnerable and the pain is intense, but still be weary, even if you get the finger strike in the eye, he still may try to follow up with the knife.

1:47 ouch!!!
Great video as always good advice on tactics thank you.
We need longer videos!!!! PLZ
Controlling enemy's arm, that's interesting.. Thank you for the tips ^_^

Could I be able to tell by facial expression before they get close enough to brandish their knife?
Next video should cover when someone stalks you with the intention of using a knife against you: just a suggestion.
Good idea. Stalking is a hot topic and very common.
WHAT A SLAP 👋. 😂😂
George is the only helper I like the other are robots
Respect a man who fights in a collared shirt.

Difficult with words, as I'm not sure if I'm thinking the same knife action as you mentioned. Hooking slash being a slash that comes in an arc?

Fight SCIENCE Oh well at least Autumn is here so it'll cool down a bit :D

Nice tips of the trade.
Thank goodness I live in Texas. Glock beats knife.
Haha slapped the taste out of his mouth. Great tactics Sifu keep them coming 👊
Why mAke such a short vid????? Just keep recording.
How to attack Arrow...?
just catch the hand that has the knife
But why do you run out of time please just make the videos longer
Just run
usually the best starting option
Not always the option.
hence "usually".
You'll need this in Europe. Because this is how muslims greet you there now.
@@complexblackness Not to this frequency. Obviously you didn't even bother looking at the numbers.

🤔💯👌👍👊🙏
I'm 97% sure I'll be the last comment on this video
I disagree. Learn Kali, and I bet It will change your mind.

This is not realistic knives are banned in London.

You did not get the sarcasm, my avatar should have tipped you off (it is of spent bullet casing)
