Just did this last week for my boss. Wish i had watched this first as im old and my eyes are bad. That oil filter was hard to find and even harder to get loose and out without a mess.

Oil will drain better if you take the fill cap off while it drains

why did you not put any oil in your oil filter before you screwed it back on? You should fill as much oil in the filter that you can without spilling it as you're screwing it back into place.

No need on Ford. Just use flood mode:
If you have push button start: With power off, press the brake, and hold gas pedal to the floor and press the start button. The engine will crank for 10sec without starting to prime the oil system.
If you have key ignition, just hold the gas pedal to the floor, and crank for about 10sec to prime the system. Engine will not start with the pedal to the floor.
