- HDS312 D4 powered by JBL GTO 1001EZ in a custom box.
Front speakers are Alpine Type S SPS-610C. Did a little fabrication to install the tweeters into the door.
Rear speakers are Alpine Type S SPS-619.

I have an HDS3-10 in a vented enclosure and it absolutely slams, love Soundqubed.

Almost a month later, this thing has broken in pretty well and hits way harder now. People get in, and I ask them to guess the configuration in the trunk, and not a single person has guessed one 12 inch sub lol. The best is, that it's under powered.
+myne243 sounds like a good set up I would make your own box if you have the time . Would be much louder than a prefab box but other than that use some good ofc wires for the amp and to the sub.
I built this box in a couple hours with zero experience. Came out alright. Ugly as hell but no one sees it.

+Monster3569 no need for ofc wire in that system. Only people who truly need ofc wire is competitors or $100k dollar demo builds. Most important thing is make your wire as big and short as possible. OFC is just a ripoff for the little extra amperage it provides. Now I'm not saying it's not slightly better it is but the cost to performance ratio doesn't justify using it in a low power daily application. My name is Billy Smith I was part of the team who built JL's demo and comp builds back in the late 80's early 90's and we never used it then. And if your old enough to have ever heard the beast with 8 15w1's you would know CCF works just fine. Oh and Tammy is my girl I just don't bother signing in every time.

Holy crap my sub and box is pretty much identical except I only got a 750.1 pushing it right now and it sounds amazing. The thing looks crazy at 1k+, makes me more excited for mine. Nice video, and good work on the box, a nice paint job or some kind of fabric would be sweet

soundqubed makes great shit. I'm currently running a ampere 3.0 v3 12 in a 2.5/1 ratio 4th tuned to 47 hz on a rockford t1500.1bdcp but I'm about to switch up to a supercharged dd 3512 in ported box tuned to 37 or if i have the room go with a 6th tuned to 28 and 52 on a dd m3c. I'm on a double cab tacoma. buying a bigger amp right of just in case I buy another 3500 series 12 and run them both at .5 ohms pushing around 4k after I get a 3rd battery.

Actually opening the trunk makes some systems louder. I know it sounds crazy but it's a phenomenon many in the industry know about. Kind of like when your system seems to hit harder when you crack or roll a window down.

Sounds great! I'm looking for a new 12 inch sub and I've been trying to narrow it down. This sub, the HDC3, Massive Hippo, and Skar VXF or ZVX but I've heard and seen some great things about the Soundqubed HDS and HDC 12. The only bad thing I've heard is that a few people say they've blown the cone on them but for the most part the majority of people who has them loves them. Is your sub still holding up or do you still run that sub?

Did your rear view mirror ever fall off or damage the glass? Im putting the same box dimentions but with a 04 accord coupe. It will have a 4 inch aero port but mine will be facing forward because I want to see her flexin.

How does this handle rock music or music with quick pedal beats? Also, have you measured the db output of the sub?
It's great honestly. You have to adjust your bass so it doesn't muddy up the blast beats but once you get it right it sounds sick.
Any updates on the subwoofer?? Looking to buy one this thing pounds

I ordered one today and also a hifonics Brutus 2k watt amp. I'll be wiring it to 2ohm which is rated at 1400 rms.. Did you play it low volume to break it in or just play it loud as normal?
be easy on it for awhile, once you notice the surround is more broke in then you can get crazy with it!

I want to do this same configuration in my suv. I am going to pick up a different amp, probably going to be underpowered a bit but I have heard it still performs, no bad ratings. I am just new to this whole car audio thing, love bass and want to learn everything about it. Not sure what most of the stuff means, like whats better 2-ohm or 4-ohm? Im gonna have to find someone to make a box for me, no clue how to do that. All the electrical as well, you think i will need a capacitor?
If you buy an amp and its capable to push at 2 ohms or even 1 ohm. its better, but make sure you'll get the dual 2 ohms sub and wired in Parallel, or 2 dual 1 ohm for dual sub application and wired in series/parallel.
The lower of ohms (impedance) the more power you'll get from the amp. This configuration could damage your amp and shorten the life of the battery.
so get a box close to 32 htz and 2.4 space...i seen box on amazon 160
Lex Luther no. Don’t ever buy a prefab. 9.5/10 their dimensions are off and not tuned to what they say. The best bang for your buck is to build your own

Hugh Jones Yes. In fact it got the the point where the resr speakers needed to be taken out and replaced with a foam barrier. Its best that they be put in separate boxes.

For just rap, I'd suggest 34 to 35.

It's not that they don't hit that low, but the lower you tune your box to, the more you take from the higher frequencies.

hey man, I've got like the exact same setup as you, even down to the box. Did you set your gains using the on board amp clipping detector or did you use a dmm?

Hi Def Dad alright, cuz I used a dmm to set the gain and the little light on top is red constantly, don't hear any distortion though, amp must be really picky

All stock electrical. Alt produces around 100-105 maybe.

I built it. it's 32x12.5x12.5 I believe. I need to find the plans. Also, keep in mind that the basket is 11.25, not 11 like a regular 12" sub.

Brendan Cramer Well this is tuned @ 32hz. You need to figure out what you want. 34-35hz is usually a good starting point, but it depends on the kind of music you listen to

I finally got everything to install this, HDS 312 4 Ohm, 1200 sq amp, 0-gauge amp kit, about to build my own box. Should I be worried about any battery issues? I recently just got a new battery because my old one fizzled out, this ones brand new. But my alternator I am not sure how it will hold up. Opinions?

In this car I did have an issue with the alternator, but the car was 10 years old at this point. Since this car, I've had it in a 2015 CRV for over a year now on stock electrical without an issue.

My install was pretty straight forward. The only thing I did was add the tweeter to the door. If you're doing aftermarket front stage... I highly suggest you mount the tweeters there.

Based off of SMD test of the 500 version, he should be getting around 1600 w burst @2 ohm, those were really good amps for the price.
I have the same sub. I did the big 3 and I'm have a hifonics 1200 watts rms and it doesn't hit as hard as his. Box perhaps?

the 500 watt version dynoed at 717 watts certified, this is the 1000 watt one, I wouldn't be surprised if it put out over 1,200 watts. I have one and just for grins and put of shear laziness bought the 2 kicker 12 box from best buy rated 1,000 rms amd that amp would bottom those subs out pretty hard. the lows were weak on that box though so I took it back the next day. it was all punch, no bottom end. my SVS pb2000 home sub hit way harder in the 15-25Hz range. come to think of it my old cvr12 from 2007 with my Phoenix gold XS 2300 bridged to 2 ohms in a sealed single sub pre fab box slammed harder on the lows than those 2 12's did. kicker doesn't seem to hit the lows like they used to.

+Alex Clakley I had the same experience. As you can hear from the video, with the trunk open standing outside, the surrounding air space was still pressurized. It's an extremely powerful sub. I'm moving it into a 2015 Honda CRV... can't wait to see how it sounds.

Yes, it's clear in real life. The reason why it sounds crappy is because the microphone on a cell phone is recording the air moving in the car as well as vibrating the phone itself.
