What automatic transmission was this a650 or a340? Any noticible difference in the auto trans shifting after standalone ECU? Or hard shifts due to high trans pressure?
Besides the tune did you do the rest of the work yourself? How long did it take to complete and have the car up and running? I'm just starting on my 02 IS300 with stock manual and LSD. It's not nearly as well maintained as yours, but it was such a good deal I had to pick it up. Also, did you do a lot of part replacement on the suspension or steering components? Great build, I'm glad to see some mild, fun builds starting to pop up on the IS300's, they are such great cars to start with.
Thanks Chris! Yes, I did all the work myself, did it over a month on my lunch breaks at work. Ran into a few hiccups along the way, nothing crazy. Had it professionally tuned. I haven’t done anything to the suspension yet, I have lowering springs, new sway bar bushings, and few other goodies waiting to be put on. Upgrading the brakes is a must too, don’t forget about that. Also I did all the maint stuff when I was turboing it which also added time to the build.
@@davisweyant3908 I'm trying to talk myself into doing my own install on the CX Racing kit. Think it might be better to get the kit without the turbo and get a better quality one from the start. So far I've upgraded my front brake rotors with slotted and ceramic pads all around. Need to replace the brake lines. I've installed Tein Flex Z coilovers so I have plenty of adjustment capability. @@charliebrownsd so where I live has NO emissions at all, which is why I did this. (i.e. Immobilizer, auto locks, etc)? That's my main concern. Thanks in advance, cheers!
Sorry, I guess it’s not a true standalone. It’s a standalone but a piggy back to the factory ECU, which retains all the factory functions. The only thing that didn’t work after the tune was the traction control.
Ecu masters has a system for 1200. Has the wideband and boost Guage built in. (Just hook in your sensor and a vacuum line) plug and play with a stock harness as well
