    Absolutely phenomenal watch. If they were able to somehow shave off a mil or two from the case height, it would be completely perfect in my eyes. Bravo, GS. Excellent review, per usual, Tim!

      Blake, I worried about the thickness when I purchased one. I can tell you it has not been a issue, the bottom of the case sinks perfectly into the wrist.

    Tim, another fantastic review! Because of you I purchased a SBGJ203 a few months back. I cannot take my eyes off of it, Grand Seiko's dance in the light. I have owned a Rolex Air King, a Breitling Navitimer, and neither compare to the Grand Seiko. No completes on the band either.

    The problem with this watch is the ample glare the crystal gives off. This video is accurate. I have one of the variations. With a dial like that, you want a less glarey crystal.

      I don't think you do have one, cause Grand Seiko makes some top notch AR crystals. It's far more representative of the video linked by JDDD33, than in this Watchbox video

    I sometimes wonder why GS puts display backs on this movement. I don't think it's particularly beautiful, and the watch is quite chunky too, so shaving off a millimeter or two would be welcomed. I also have a hard time understanding why they put text on the display back, so you can't properly see the movement, nor can you properly read the text.
    I love the watch overall, but some design decisions like these baffle me.

    Any recommendation between this one and the sbga375? I like that the 375 has a bit of a cleaner look and a bit thinner, but the Mt Iwate dial looks so hard to beat. Just curious about your thoughts. Thanks!

    • @davids.2317
      @davids.2317 3 роки тому +9

      Why would the bezel need to rotate? The 24 hour markings are on the chapter ring, there are no markings on the bezel.. The definition of a true gmt is the jumping local hour hand, so this is a true gmt.

    Excellent craftsmanship! It does this that and the other! What great value! Yet it’s still a Seiko! Sharing the same brand name as a $500 watch that is essentially worthless because you can’t sell it for much more than zero once you walk out the door. Great presentation nonetheless TMasso and the rest of the Watchbox gang. JoM

      Look, Seikos certainly aren't the most prestigious brand out there, but fact is, they are some of the most liquid for their price point, especially at the sub $1k price point. And they hold their value fairly well, in comparison to other brands. Some of the sub $1k watches actually rose in value. Your assertion is completely incorrect.

      @@alex-dc2zx Whilst I agree 14mm is too thick, you are dreaming if you think 10mm is realistic. The new High beat movement is thinner but even that movement in the white birch is 11.7mm. If you think these are thick go look at an A Lange & Sohne.

    • @alex-dc2zx
      @alex-dc2zx 3 роки тому

      @@Jabber-ig3iw Yes, the white birch is a nice watch. i still think it should be 1-2 mm thinner but 11.7 is acceptable. but how you think that a. lange & söhnes are thick. the saxonia is like 7mm thick and the lange 1 is also well under 10mm. you probably looked at a watch with a lot of complications like a minute repeater and now you compare that to a time only gs. that is not a comparison that makes sense at all

    • @rousseau327
      @rousseau327 2 роки тому +1

      @@alex-dc2zx Both the saxonia and the lange 1 are manual wind watches. Not to mention, if you actually look at the GS, most of the thickness comes from the crystal, the GMT chapter ring, and additional steel "rehaut" area.

      Some people buy with their head, some people buy with their heart... The watch is worth the retail price by the way its finished and if you love it - the value is in th enjoyment of wearing it. Not everything has to be about resale cache, but then I buy with my heart. Each to their own but this watch is worth every penny and in terms of finishing, its far better than my Pepsi (2020) - where it fails is the bracelet, its not bad, its just not great.
