Sorry to hear about the fire. That's always some really scary stuff, and makes you reevaulate how you store stuff, your insurance coverage, escape plans, and how close the nearest fire department is.
Those cabs are a must have for anyone mowing large open areas
Wow sorry about the fire. I owned a Kubota zero turn and after back surgery traded it in on a Ferris and am REALLY HAPPY with my decision. The Kubota cut fine but the ride was horrible, even teeth jarring on our uneven yard. We mow about 4 acres and LOVE our Ferris.
Thanks, Bob
Another couple benefits of the Cab is it helps keep the sun off and also bugs/insects. Finishing mowing in light rain is also great with a Cab.
Neil, As a retired firefighter, I know what you've been through, and like everyone else here, I'm happy that no one got hurt. Aas for the Ferris with a Curtis cab, I think they are the best cabs on the market. Before I move to Wyoming, I lived very near where the cabs are made, in West Boylston, MAssachusetts.
A friend has an older ZD326, which I’ve borrowed quite often & enjoyed. Then he recently got a z781 & that thing blows away the ZD in every respect(except maybe fuel consumption). The 781 rides like a couch! Now I’m looking to get one for myself.
Glad you got a new mower. Sorry you had to get it the way you did. Thanks for all you do. 😊👨🚒
So sorry about the fire! Glad everyone is safe, I can only imagine the difficulty in your future! Love the videos, Neil! Keep them coming, thanks!!
I have had my cab B2650 for 5 years and never regretted going with the cab (except for maybe 30 seconds after it was delivered and I realized it was a ½" too tall to fit in my garage). You really learn to appreciate it when its 98° F and 95% humidity and you are nice and comfy inside with A/C. But it is so much nicer getting done cutting grass and not feeling drained from feeding 300 or 400 mosquitos in the 3 hours i been cutting. And here in Michigan if we have a late winter i have cut grass all the way up to Christmas before and then for snow removal after that. If you have to be out in the elements then you might as well be comfortable doing it right.
Sorry to hear about the fire but so glad everyone is safe. That setup is awesome. Curious as to if it is more tippy and too heavy around hills?? Thanks for sharing Neil
Great info about the cab! Very sorry to hear about the fire.
O Neil - SO sorry to hear about your tragedy. A fire is the worst!!!!!!! You seem to be very "into" moving on. You my friend are an inspiration. All the best. Love your videos
So glad everything turned out well Neil! Love your videos.
I have a Ferris, not that big though! I love it. It is a real mowing machine. It is a 2009 model, always kept inside, and looks and runs like new. The suspension is a real winner in my opinion.
I've got a new 2022 , 52 in cut 25 hp. That thing is amazing. Cuts my mowing time in half or more.
So very sorry about the fire Neil…glad everyone is ok. Stuff can/will be replaced. Hope you get some legal advice about the HVAC issue 👍👍. Friend with a landscaping business bought his first Ferris zero turn last year. Said it’s like cutting grass while sitting in his recliner 😂😂😂. He loves his, and he’s a Scag guy 🤷♂️
Hey I hope everyone and all pets made it out glad to see that you are ok
My condolences on the loss of your kubota (and the damage to your house).
Thank you for the informative comparison!
Always thankful for your informed reviews.
Wow! I'm so sorry to hear that you had a house fire. Prayers from Brunson Baptist Church and Brunson Fire Department in SC!
I'm glad you and your family are doing okay after the fire!
Good, and informative video Neil! Keep 'em coming!
Just got ours in on the 1211 Kubota and did a first cut with it this week. Will take some getting used too. Biggest benefit like you said - no more grass and pollen in my face while cutting. A/c seems ok. Mirrors kinda useless with how much they shake. And windshield reservoir in the way of the cup holder a bit if you use a bigger tumbler. That and the limiter where the a/c won't kick in unless your around 70% of throttle. Was gonna yank that swtich off but the mechanic said it might not have enough magneto power to charge the battery if I run the 1/c too low. Gonna jump out the swith/rod and see how much juice is being pulled. Maybe i can run it at 40% and still charge ok. if not voltage regulator might go poor. I think that got swapped along with almost the same alternator. But would be nice on a hot day to turn on the mower and get the cab cooled down before cutting - without having thr throttle running almost wide open just sitting there
I'd be concerned on charge voltage. It's a problem on the Ferris I have now.
It's not a problem with the throttle wide open when mowing Is it? Or you finding your battery dying out fast with the a/c on?@@MessicksEquip
@@forceon959 correct, at wide open throttle and the AC cranked My battery doesn't seem to be charging. The factory tells me this is not normal, I may take it in the shop in the off season to verify. It's not a huge deal now that I'm aware of it. This was not a problem on my previous Kubota, but it is on the Ferris.
Ferris has the best ride for sure
Very interesting. How does the weight of the cab effect the handling of the mower? I would imagine that it moves the CG forward adding weight to the front casters. Any opinions? Great video!
Man I’m really sorry to hear that. We had a house fire 2 years ago. Electrical as well. Totally changes your life for a year. Good luck!
Sorry about your fire. Praying the foamily is safe.
Glad the fire wasn't wasn't worse, The Ferris looks like a nice mower.. I think I would stick with the ZD personally though
I love the way the deck works on the ferris. It's a simple mechanical foot lever with a pin to adjust the height. They talk a big game about suspension and it's nice, but it's also a really well build mower.
I think other mowers cut better, but the ferris is a dead simple machine and really well built.
Sorry to hear about the fire. No doubt a horrible experience.
Might be worth while to use a sound meter and compare the sound level difference with and without a cab. (Obviously hearing protection should be worn no matter what.)
That's a beast of a mower
Sorry about the fire, hopefully there was not much damage to your house.
Does Curtis offer a glass window option? I assume those panels are polycarbonate based on the windshield flexing when you were discussing the wiper.
No. The panels are bent to follow the contours. I can't image the cost if they tried to make those from glass. Maybe the front could be.
Nice comparison of the red and orange machines. Now do the green one. ;)
Tim, TTWT, was talking about your Kubota cab burned up, and I was wondering what happened. He gave a nice segway into this episode. I guess you need to buy him a cheeseburger the next time you I get together. Lol😊😂
So sorry Neil for your losses and difficulties due to the fire.
Is there anything at all I can do for you or assist with in regards to your fire?
Thanks. We're chipping away. There have been lots of offers for help, but few things that are easy to give to someone else. We're hoping to move back in shortly.
@@MessicksEquip YW.
I understand and wish you well.
God is in control and you will be stronger when all is back to normal.
I have the same zero turn love it , I would I love the cab but not for 12k yikes
Cost?
That engine is air cooled?
I wish they had cabs on Husqvarna zero turn mowers
how big is your yard?
2 acres.
Is the front tire a Ferris wheel?
I see what you did there.
Bad day for sure, glad everyone is ok. Lost a house in 1996 to fire, the memory of the day sticks with you.
Oh yeah, you're going to miss the diesel power and economy.😮
So curtis figured out how to make an AC cab work on a 25 hp kubota diesel... Why cant kubota? I want an L2501 with an AC cab, please.
I've been asking for that for a decade.
It would be nice if Ferris had a diesel option for the 3300 without blowing the price through the roof.
4:21 Probably for emergency egress
It needs a wide angle backup camera
Can we get a mower that cuts with a laser already?!
Over the last few years diesel has filtered with being twice the price of gas
Fire is one thing that is scary, hopefully the insurance company will pay
Neil, how does it perform when you fart?
:-)
I’m sure I could not afford a cab over.
Well I could see this for people that mow grass all day every day. But for normal folk if its so hot to need AC on lawn mower they probably are not going to be cutting the grass!
Nasal allergy spray is cheaper than a cab lol
As the world turns people get more and more SPOILED!!!
I personally enjoy the fresh air and smell of fresh cut grass.
Personally things are getting a bit ridiculous in the vehicle market!!!
That mower never stood a chance. From mowing sopping wet grass, to getting accidentally filled with gasoline, to dying in the fire. Why must the good die young!?
she lived a hard life.
i see lot of those house fire with HVAC system i am not going bother with a HVAC with my own house being i see way to much
You’re replacing your Kubota with the Ferris dude come on
guess kubota isnt that great.
@@FishFind3000 Kubota is great ferris suck balls Garvey is one the best zero turn mower
A cab with air on a mower ? That just seems a bit much .
Starting at $17,000... No thanks
starting at $11,000. Still not cheap, but not 17k.
curtisindustries.net/product/premium-ac-cab-for-ferris-isx3300/
If you need a cab on a lawnmower, you’re cutting too much lawn. Plant a prairie.
I guess this means that kubota make a shitty mower if you replaced it with something else.
That's a stupid comment.
That’s what I was wondering. 🤔
The cab is a promo from Curtis, for the Ferris since its their new model. If money was no object, and I had a free cab for it, I'd take another Kubota.
I've owned several kubota zero turns, and exmark. The ZD series is a whole different animal. My 72" ZD is a confused tractor.
@@dand33911 Great description. :-)
