Awesome Kevin!! I have a few pine knots, and this helped ALOT!! THANK YOU!
I'm Glad, just don't use the lancelot I use in that video they are pretty dangerous , I don't recommend them anymore. Use a kutzall disk in stead or your chainsaw to face it off. It's much safer.
Just started whittling this year along with other art forms I have never tried before and recently got a Dremel to do some power carving. This was a very enjoyable video to watch. Thanks for posting
Thank you very very much Kevin you are the best
Thanks , I'm glad you enjoyed it.
I love the "Old Man of the Woods" awesome job.
Fantastic. Thankyou Kevin.
I love your work a lot! I just want to say thank you I have learned so much from your videos I have subbed your channel befor but then realized you haven't been making video anymore but now I see your making again and I have subbed your channel🙏🏻😊😊
I never knew my old friend Chuck was a wood spirit until I saw you carve his face out of that pine knot. Truly looks like him, beard and all. He does wood burnings and is a great artist in his own right. He is a vet, and he tutored me in carpentry for nearly ten years now. I'm feeling inspired to make one of these just like yours and give it to him for his next birthday. Now I gotta go get even more tools to add to the collection. Thank you so much for sharing your art with us youtubers and the world. Much appreciated!
The spirit , a small face showed up at 2:53---3:10. The spirit was already in the wood. You have a well thought out approach which you share and present well . Thanks
Thanks for watching I'm glad you enjoyed it.
absolutely beautiful. you the Spirit Man.
Great job!! Love the carving, thanks, Augie
Absolutely fascinating to watch, thanks for sharing the experience Kevin.
Awesome 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Interesting mix of methods, I was surprised you didn't finish it using the rotary with smaller bits for detail work. It looks much more authentic and natural by hand. I'm just trying to learn with the rotary right now but I do appreciate the manual style. Great job!
One of the best videos I have ever seen on carving the spirit. Very good work . I'll be looking for you other videos. THANKS
Thank you and Happy New Year!
Really, really nice artwork and instruction. The is my first time to see someone carve a "wood spirit". What a thrill to see all this strange messy knot be transformed into something so cool looking! Like a stone sculptor, you could see all the potential. Great job, and very enjoyable to watch. Thanks so much for the upload. God bless you. Have a great year.
nice to see you back. Great video as always. You are so talented. Please keep them coming.
Thank you, I will be posting more this coming year.
Thanks Kevin, I too am so glad you are back. I haven't been carving for a year but you are again giving me inspiration to get going. Great video. I like the long ones.
Great to see you too again, thanks.
Great to see you too again, thanks.
Look how resinous and waxy that wood is. I’ll bet that smelled amazing.
Beautiful work . great video

I can hear baby birbs begging for food in the background!
Parent birbs: not now kids, I'm watching him carv!

I like your tutorial on carving the knot.
Welcome Back :) x
Thanks for sticking around, as time permits I'll make more vids..
Just saw your 1st vid. Subscribed. LOVE the wood spirit.Always wanted to do wood spirits. I have a tiny bit of sculpture practice and wanted to do some wood spirits on some walking staffs I made. I've watched others but watching you makes it seem less daunting. Thanks. Now I gotta go watch more of your vids. :)
Glad you liked it , and thanks for watching and commenting....Kevin

I was pleased to find your new video when I logged on tonight. . Long time subscriber here. Hope this finds you well. Thanks for taking the time to show us how you carve these. Best wishes: john
Thanks John , I hope you enjoy it.
Отлично!
Dec. 28, 2017, Thursday, 3:21 am, San Diego: "Barnabus". That's his name. Ha ! It's fun to watch the cottonwood come to life. He'd be enjoyable over the mantel. Think I'd have a little bird perched on him somewhere. Twigs and leaves in Barnabus' beard.
Вообще супер!Я не понимаю почему у вас так мало лайков!
That is some hard knot.
Hi Kevin, could you maybe one day show how to carve a wood spirit with nothing else but a Arbortech mini grinder. All the best Andy from Devon in the UK.
I will when I get another mini grinder , mine is broken after years of
use. You will still need some hand tools though for finer details once
most of the work is done.
I wonder if you ever confuse the woodpeckers. 🤔🐦 55:22
I’ve collected lots of pin knots, the one I like the most is 4” diameter 5’ long. But if you like to have it you pay shipping I send it to you, in return send me a video of what you make of it.
It is beautiful work. what do you do with your chips?
Thank you 🙏 thank you 🙏 for the video !!!! I learned a lot and it was possible because of the awesome teaching and explanation you provided . This video gave me another perspective on carving forest spirit faces . Im relatively new on this but i already carved 4 forest spirits (not as awesome as yours though ) ok , I’m using a dremel 4300 with its flex shaft so one question , do you hang your dremel ? If so how high ? Asking cause I heard that by hanging your dremel all the grease goes to the handpiece but , the dremel comes with its little hanger to be hung up so , is that even true that the grease will run to the handpiece (the flex shaft ) or not ? It’s really much easier to have the dremel hanging cause it kinda gives more freedom while carving but I’d really like to know cause I don’t wanna mess it up , can’t afford buying another one now .. thx in advance , thanks for the awesome video and teachings and I’m your new subscriber and student as well , thank you !!!!!
bear in the background: 😱
that wood is dificult to carving, good job
I bet that smells awesome.
Actually it did when I was carving it.
Happy to see you back Kevin . I've learned a lot from your vids. Great video . I'd like to send you some pics. of the wood spirits I've carved to get your opinion . Do you have a email address I could send them to . I'm not on Facebook .
Hi Glen, yeah I'm going to try to get some new vids on the channel this coming year. Great to hear from you, you can always email me pics at ltldragn@yahoo.com also, I'd love to see them. Keep carving my friend..Kevin

Amazing What is the dremel model you have used in the beginning of the video ?
4300
How do you go about getting one of your drawing's to to do my own woodsman. I can'tdraw much any more and I enthused about what you do
I have an old book with some patterns in it of wood spirits you can find it here...... www.lulu.com/spotlight/ltldragn
Maybe you can find what you need in it.
The Arborteck turbo plane is 168 safer and works way better easy to sharpen worth the extra 120 for serious
He is beautiful! I wish I could do that....Can't draw a straight line with a ruler. My son does carvings as gifts for myself and my sister. He is very artistic! Didn't get it from his Mother! lol! Your video is very good. Just wish you could place the camera where your shoulder and hand aren't in the way and the traffic was somewhere else. Made it hard to hear what you were saying in places. Thanks for sharing your wonderful talent.
Thank you and I'm going to have better quality videos this year with better angles also. Thanks for commenting and watching ...Kev
How do you keep your bits from gumming up in that Pine resin I have to Old pine nuts myself my tool and keeps going up though
Dam auto spell knots . And gumming
I clean them with a brass brush.
Hi Kevin !
What kind of disk do you use first ?
The Lancelot , it's made by king Arthur tools I believe.
Many thanks !
I didn't know this kind of tools were existing !
I'll try this when the weather wil be better (it's now snowing ... )
That is a big piece of fat wood. nice carving man.
Fatwood eyeballs!
hey kevin nice work and i love ur all videos but i have a question what is the name of ur carving tool i want to get one like it but i dont have the information about this tool can u tell me a little about it >... thank u very much
I'm using a dremel with a flexshaft attached to it for carving this wood spirit. The bits you can use vary but it's a great tool to get a head start on such tugh pieces. ...Hope this helps.....
it helps thank u very much ... and hey .. i have some things i wanna show u for giving me an advice u have fb or somthing //
Sure, you can find my facebook link in the description on this video.
i send u a message on fb >>>
Very nice! How much would a carving like this sell for?
Oh , depends on the buyer I guess. They are all different and vary.
Both are good.
I love the power carve, and how to get it ,how much is the cost for it,
Did you see the man's face in line with the bottom of the nose to the right
I see faces everywhere on this piece.
i can't hear you when you are working in your outside studio. Julien
I've paused at @4:45 to write this. I haven't seen the whole video yet. I'd like you to view your footage again, and pause right about where you shut off the grinder at 3:09 or so. Tell me you don't see the face that is already in the wood at that point. Now, at 4:45, you're drawing a face over that face. I don't believe for a minute that you didn't see it. It's all there - eyebrows; eyes; nose; mouth; chin, and cheekbones; hair and hairline; neck, in a left-quarter view. I go on, now, to the rest of the video.
Of coarse, That's why I love carving these guys because they are already living in the wood , I just liberate them but you are right, they are already there.
first......
Nice piece of fat wood.
Oh yeah ! lol
This is not carving, it machining. You need to change the title.
Didn't see your fuc*in chanel on here ass face
jason hubbard What does that have to do with you and your mis-titled video?. If you are going to machine a sculpture, then title you video correctly.
By the way, nice language, you sound like a lovely fellow.
Chance1957 pretty sure it's not machining. He is actually doing the work, not setting peramiters and letting the machine go. Still, I don't understand why you chose to go after him. What good does it don't criticize an artist like this? Where is your work that is up for criticism?
Conal Wright
Machining: Process such as abrading, cutting, drilling, forming, grinding, and/or shaping of a piece of metal or other material performed by machine tools such as lathes, power saws, drills, dremels, and presses. ...
I don't believe I criticized him, I suggested he change his title to reflect what he was doing.
Are all you little whimsical sculptors, so sensitive?
To answer your question my work is on display in the real world, not on UA-cam.
Chance1957 why the name calling? Why so defensive? If UA-cam is not the real world, why bother commenting or even watching? I just don't understand why people with superior attitudes feel the need to attack on social media.
