- Hi Tech Lovers, in this Video I'm going to show you how to make an Addressable RGB Custom Graphics Card Backplate using WS2812b LEDs (Aka Neopixels). That description doesn't really do it justice, so go check out the video above! Please note that Addressable RGB lets you have many different Modes of lighting with the help of ARGB header present on almost all newer Chipset motherboards. So, you can control this backplate by using any RGB lighting software like AURA or MYSTIC.This DIY backplate drastically changes the look of your setup and its super easy to make.
MATERIALS REQUIRED -
1.Acrylic Sheet (8mm thickness is preferred, here I have used 4mm acrylic)
2. Vinyl Wrap (Choose the color you want, I have used Matt Black )
3. A4 Photo paper for Backing (I have used White Vinyl)
4. 2mm thick Sunboard (foam board)
5. ARGB WS2812b LED Strip
6. Male & Female Header strip
7. 3 core wire
TOOLS REQUIRED-
1. Acrylic Scoring knife (or Hacksaw)
2. Cutting knife
3. Exacto knife
4. Soldering Iron & Wire
5. Waterpaper/Sandpaper (100 grit & 220 grit)
6. Double Sided Tape
7. Ruler and Marker

This is absolutely genius- excellent craftsmanship. How does the cover go on the GPU? Does it just sit on the top? Doesn't it cover the fans?
It just Sit on top of GPU For Hiding Circuit Board.
DB's LAB Sweet! How thick was the acrylic you used and what grit sandpaper did you use?
@@fitchyyboi I used 4mm thick Acrylic with dual layer. Its Better You can use one 8 mm sheet. I used 100 grid sand paper for Coarse sanding and 220 grid for fine sanding.

I used sunboard for support. You can use card board or mount board..
Will grahic card over heat because acrylic sheet is made of platic

I used two acrylic sheets. Each 4mm thick. Its better you can user one 8mm thick acrylic. And bottom I used Foam Board. Dont use texture vinyl only use single color vinly.

In this project the main item os acrylic glass or fiber glass. You can get from Hardware market or commercial market and. vinyl - any bike or car decoration shop. Rgb led strip from Amazon. But I used ARGB led, bought from aliexpress.
Does the backplate floating? Or u have used something to stick it? And what if the gpu temps are 70-75 there is case to melt?

no. this motherboard dose not have RGB controller, you need to buy ARGB Controller from amazon.

just sit on GPU, if your motherboard have RGB or ARGB LED power output then just plug the power cable on motherboard. otherwise you need to purchase LED controller from amazon.

How did you connect and power up the rgb?
If your mother board have RGB output then you can plug there, or you need to buy a RGB controller.

dose your mother board support ARGB output? Then you can power led strip from there, other wise you need to purchase argb controller from amazon.
He just sit it on top, but you can use magnets that attach to the screws in the motherboard (like, really weak magnets) or stick it using some kind of tape

in this part I used white vinyl, you should try photo paper for better light reflection. and the black one is black matte vinyl. You can get it from any bike decore or stickering shop.

A plotter/vinyl cutter requires power to operate and is used in your process, although it isn't shown in the video. It looks like you used 1 initially to make the templates of paper that you used as a guide to cut out the actual vinyl by hand. Other people can't do that without the vinyl cutter/plotter and if you do have 1 then why not just use it for the vinyl directly instead of cutting it by hand?
