I met William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy with my then 7-year-old son at a Comic-Con and when we got up to them to get an autograph my son got kind of scared of them. We got to William Shatner first and my son handed him a book written by Leonard Nimoy and he showed it to Mr. Nimoy and then Shatner signed it on the cover page for us. Then Mr. Nimoy graciously signed the book we brought by William Shatner. Both talked to my son and were very friendly to us both. Those books are my son's favorite things now and he shows them to friends all the time. That was quite a while back, our son is grown and gone from both undergrad and grad school.
He would have to carry the movie in every role because he pisses off nearly everyone he works with. That's not just my fan-boy opinion. That's from the people that were there.
William Shatner is truly a pop culture legend. He has been fun to watch in everything he's done, going all the back to The Twilight Zone. And he's been showing his dramatic chops since Judgment at Nuremburg. He is a gem.
How can this man be 91 years old? He comes across 20 years younger than Patrick Stewart. If he keeps aging at this pace without suddenly detoriating he will reach 110 without problems.
The answer to your question is, shit loads of money and extensive medical care which poor people can't afford to get, so basically the rich can afford the best health care available 🤷🏻♂️

Why were there even other people on the stage with Shatner?? No one wants to hear from those people if he’s up there. Plus, they couldn’t get a word in edgewise anyway. He’s a one-man show.
If only more in Hollywood were as courageous with their speech and opinions, we wouldn't be in the creative desert that the whole of sci-fi finds itself.
Fine presence of Mr. Shatner, and he is a legend. I'm not going to deify the man, though. Wish his host/ emcee would lighten up on the F-Bombs, though. Is it like that at a Comic Con? I might avoid these like the plague, if that's the case! Thanks for sharing!
David Baxter must not be much of a Star Trek fan because his badge is on the wrong side of his shirt. The badge is supposed to be on the LEFT side of the shirt, just a nitpick.
Kevin Smith is the kind of guy who would visit the Louvre and talk about "all the fuqin cool pictures." He's almost sixty and still talks like he's 15 years old which is cool among pals, but this is Mr. Shatner, a legend. Class it up, just a little.
Not to be snarky, but Shatner has not been around the SF scene "longer than there has been fandom". We have existed, met, discussed books/movies/art/ideas, had SF clubs and writing workshops, etc. since before Star Trek was ever conceived. Star Trek made fandom more visible to the general public. It did not create SF fandom.

Wow!
I’m convinced this man could still play Captain Kirk and play lead role and still carry the whole movie on his own despite his age
I'd rather watch a Kirk show than another episode of Picard...
Certainly 10 times more engaging and charismatic than the new Kirk from Strange New Worlds.
