  • Should artists make certificates of authenticity for their originals, commissions and prints? In this video I discuss what certificates of authenticity are for, and what to include in them. Note that I forgot to mention adding the artist signature to the certificate! A very important part of it!
For further reading on the subject you can find more information here, which was found through a simple google search: visual-artists.org/resources/...

I know! Everyone is asking for me to show my certificates, the problem with that is then everyone will do what I do and I’ve created my certificates to suit my brand, so artists will be creating something that doesn’t fit the look of their brand 🤔

what if I make a sculpture and get an idea/reference from pinterest, statues from churches and screenshots from other socmed but my final product is not the same or far from the reference I have because I combined all the idea and my idea? Sorry for bad english, it's not my first language

If i am making an artwork from a reference which is royalty free from sites like pexels , will it be my original work because there can be other artists who chose the same reference. Even though its royalty free should i ask for permission from the photographer and mention him/her in the post or certificate

Honestly, that’s the best way to do things as an artist… it’s a lot of extra work, but helps a lot as your work gets more an more collectable over the years ❤️

I'm just about to launch my website and I'm offering certificate of authenticity with original and limited edition prints. My question is I have ongoing prints in shops which I don't supply certificates for as I just couldn't keep track aswell as they're not limited editions. How do you manage with selling your prints through shops?
I follow you on Instagram and your post led me to this channel. Just so appreciate all you genuine advice. It's been more than helpful. Can't wait to check out your UA-cam. Thanks a lot☘️💚🍀

If it’s not limited edition, you don’t have to number and sign each one (a digital signature would be enough in this case). You can ask the shop people to send a certificate with the open editions though, just so that your buyer knows it’s your print, and not a rip off.
