Hello Debbie. Yes, that's what most painters do. The acrylic is a stable foundation that dries quickly so blocking in your colours is easy and then the oils provide the ability to blend and add depth and detail. You CAN'T do acrylic on oil. I think that's self-explanatory. Oil paint takes a while to dry and acrylic will just flake off it. I hope this helps.

Thanks a lot for this great tutorial. Do you use the paint purely or thinning it with linseed oil or medium?
I use it pure! Maimeri Puro is the brand im using at the moment, and it is soft enough that it doesnt need to be thinned down for this process
