Neon, trying to find a 100% standard difficulty S+ run and honestly no one does them like you. Its all gameplay, no commentary. Its annoying for someone like me because there are things they seem to be able to do in their run, that I am having trouble doing myself. You talk us through everything and its so helpful. No one has a guide as good as this one IMO.
Im literally going through this. The guides out there SUUUUCK. No commentary or explaining what’s happening. I have to hope I got everything. Neon spoiled us with his RE4 walkthroughs by showing everyone how it’s actually done.
For people like me stressing so much, here is, the savepoint advised by Neon : 1st: 20:40 (Before Birkin Boss 1) 2nd: 47:20 (if alligator scares you) Don't hesitate to take one rubber in case of -> 49:51 (just before Ada gameplay) I can't because I didn't have rubber TwT OR 54:56 (really start of sewer, a zombie and a sewer monster) I did there because of this OR at last 58:05 3rd: 1:32:00 Have fun and good luck! Also Thank you Neon, this guide is (I am currently after my save 2) really good at the moment!

I have over a hundred hours in this game and 99% of the achievements, and as I was playing it earlier, I completely blacked out and forgot what I had to do, I still don't remember. That's why I pulled up your guide. My brain isn't braining today.
Beat in one hour fifty nine minutes, died a good few times and reloaded a lot more but that's just my perfectionism, thanks for the guide, your commentary is wonderful.
Leon's light jog with knees pressed together is infuriating. Why Capcom couldn't make him move faster or have a sprint button is beyond me. It totally takes me out of it when I'm fighting these bosses and he's just jogging away instead of running for dear life.

@@NeonSlice I will be watching the Claire guide at some point! The only part I personally struggled with was G virus stage 2 with the crane. I got smacked with it because I didn’t put him down next to it. Just about 30 minutes ago I got the S+ rank.
Great guide, was really easy to play along with. You explained every potentially tricky section very well, especially in the sewers, and made sure that people would have enough items to stay safe and enough inventory space to avoid backtracking. I know a lot of people would be able to plan an S+ run on their own given time, but guides like yours mean people who want the weapons can get them easily before they feel like they are done with the game. Even a year later, the effort you've put into this guide is more than enough to earn a new subscriber.
I know it’s almost been a year since you uploaded this video but I just want to say your guide is absolutely amazing so far (only at save 2 right now lol). It’s very carefully thought out and planned, and is really fun to watch as well. There have been SO MANY “How did I even survive that?!” Moments. Like after I got the garage keycard and flipped the lever, I didn’t fully make the circle around Mr X, so he grabbed me. But thankfully he threw me in the hallway and when I turned the corner, it wasn’t just the 3 zombies, it was EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM. Of course I got grabbed but I got out of it and somehow I just ran through all of them without getting grabbed again lol Edit: I FINALLY did it! 2 hr 9 sec. Thanks so much dude!

I started with Claire at first, it was tough, but manageable, but through following your guide and replaying different sections I actually got better at this game, so with Leon I managed to beat the game whole 2 seconds faster then you, even though I decided to thoroughly cleanse the ivy area with a flamethrower, so I made quite a few detours. You're a legend dude, I used this guide much like I did with the one you made for RE4. Decided I'd revisit RE2 years later since last playing in 2019. Feels so different after playing through 4 so recently. Dare I say S+ in RE2 is much more of a challenge than RE4? I had 1 major screw up while doing Ada's segment: died to X and lost all that progress... almost gave up entirely but gave it another go a few hours later and got through it without any other incidents. Final time of 1:52, anyway, good stuff as usual!
I think S+ in RE2 is harder because a lot of it comes down to RNG whereas in RE4 remake it's more skill based. Even without bonus weapons I'd rather do RE4R S+ than re2r
@Neon Slice I have actually a suggestion on Birkin, first knife him THEN toss the grenade, the grenade stuns him, so you're wasting some free slash since he won't attack you before the eye pops up. Basically knife him , the eye pops up knife once or twice then toss the grenade knfie him again he'll then be on his knees keeps kinifing him until he gets up. Then toss the flash grenade and knife him. Most of the time you won't get grabbed nor damaged it's a lot more consistent.
The only thing affecting your ranking is the time, saves and the use of infinite weapons. You can't use infinite guns, you only get 3 saves and you must finish under 2 h 30
I do not comment on videos but this is a very special case. I did not think this was possible but I found your guide and it was really helpful. Couldn’t have done it without you. I really appreciate this and thank you again for helping me through this
Feel free to disagree, but I STRONGLY recommend saving right after you get the regulator for the flamethrower in the Umbrella Research Lab. At that point, you have 30 minutes max left in the run. Much better to die and start over from there, rather than die and start all the way from pre-boss sewers. Just my two cents and experience after getting S+. Good luck everyone!
Really helpful guide did everything you did and had no problems, trying to platinum this game so it really helped thankyou. This was my first resident evil game and i managed to complete it in under 2 hours
About the Aligator moment. You don't have to be scared about saving i messed up at the beginning and went to the right instead of left at the start and still had plenty of time to swing back to left again. The most important moment is to move to the left right after he does that second bite. In this moment you also have a bit gap for mistakes however he is way faster than at the first bite. And ofc good tutorial, very easy to follow especially if someone played the game normally at the start. Honestly, im reading comments rn and i don't know how people even get some of those dumb questions xD

I just bought re2 and 3 on Steam deck excited to try these. Used your guide for re4 professional so I know I can do it for RE2 now. I got RE2 years ago, never finished it(got to the lab). I was gamesharing on xbox and ended up losing access. Excited to pick it back up.

What a beaut, thank you boss for making this guide so clear and easy to follow. Made finishing this pretty simple. But god damn those sewer G’s were such a nightmare to deal with, kept getting screwed over or made small mistakes which would end up getting me grabbed repeatedly. Can’t wait to see them again when I try for S+ on Claire 😑
A tip for those going in the sewers, if you happen to have the mixed red and blue herbs, it should help keep you immune from the poison effects temporarily if for whatever reason the Gs end up grabbing you.

Thank you so much. Did it today in 1:54:04 with this guide. Took me all day wounderful explained guide, enough item safety if some things didn't work out as planned. For me i was grabbed like 3 or 4 times in the dark area and at the start i had to kill the zombies who burst out of the door in the east area. Everything still worked out to be fine. I saved before the crocodile tbh. Like i said, thank you very much!

I did a similar run for my S+ run with both Leon & Claire. Subsequent playthroughs typically end around 1:40 - 1:50, which is fine for me. When going to STARS office to pick up the battery, I bring only ammunition that I csn stack with whatever I have in the inventory + flashbangs, since you need to use one on the licker. In the library, you can leave the zombie by the door- just keep your distance and shoot the wandering one. Other than that, your guide is very good. It’s just that I got used to running with as little items as possible on me, just in case
Came back to this game and decided to give the S+ run after it defeated me years ago. Couldn't have done it without you brother. I ended up beating it with your help at 1:42:08.

Thanks a million! This was a geat guide 🙏 For people having trouble using the shotgun on the final tyrant fight like I did: Shoot a fully loaded shotgun at him at the beginning. Then use the flame thrower and hand grenades (I had 4 saved up). After the grenades are used up, throw flashbangs (I had 3) to stun him and burn him with the flamethrower. That'll keep him from doing anymore attacks until the rocket launcher drops. I still had 2 flashbangs and a lot of flamethrower left after the fight so I felt it was much easier this way. The shotgun kept leaving me open for attacks from him. Good luck everyone!

Thanks dude for anyone else who didn't do a flawless run check your time when you load. My last save I had 17 minutes left to 2:30 limit died instantly, loaded and only had 15 reload only 10 then again for 17 minutes
this is a big problem if you're not looking out for it. players should always reload from the main menu rather than resuming automatically because the counter will add the wasted time. so annoying to discover this after a failed run.
Got standard s+ rank thanks to this guide in 2 hours 1 m and only died to the last boss fight. At least I learned a bit if I ever go for hardcore. I got grabbed so many unlucky times and got chased by mister x during the despawn licker area trick.
I did it! Final time of 1:59:06 on hardcore. I got scared and saved at the start of the NEST but I'm glad I did because I took a few bullshit RNG deaths. I had to do the whole nest about 7 or 8 times but once I finally beat birkin I killed Mr X on my first try by spamming flashbangs and heals. Never could have done it without this guide, thanks bro.
In the final fight with tyrant/mr x all you need is 3 grenades. Its a timed fight and every time mrx gets stunned the timer gets faster maximum of 3 times. Then dodge him till you get the launcher. Ive seen the datas so its confirmed. Hope it helps

1:05:22 - I may be wrong but I believe shooting at them when you are out of their reach causes them to submerge making it safe for you to jump.

Another phenomenal guide, my guy, you are an absolute savior!!! I started with Claire at first, it was tough, but manageable, but through following your guide and replaying different sections I actually got better at this game, so with Leon I managed to beat the game whole 2 seconds faster then you, even though I decided to thoroughly cleanse the ivy area with a flamethrower, so I made quite a few detours. You're a legend dude, I used this guide much like I did with the one you made for RE4. Decided I'd revisit RE2 years later since last playing in 2019. Feels so different after playing through 4 so recently. Dare I say S+ in RE2 is much more of a challenge than RE4? I had 1 major screw up while doing Ada's segment: died to X and lost all that progress... almost gave up entirely but gave it another go a few hours later and got through it without any other incidents. Final time of 1:52, anyway, good stuff as usual!

I think S+ in RE2 is harder because a lot of it comes down to RNG whereas in RE4 remake it's more skill based. Even without bonus weapons I'd rather do RE4R S+ than re2r

@Neon Slice I have actually a suggestion on Birkin, first knife him THEN toss the grenade, the grenade stuns him, so you're wasting some free slash since he won't attack you before the eye pops up. Basically knife him , the eye pops up knife once or twice then toss the grenade knfie him again he'll then be on his knees keeps kinifing him until he gets up. Then toss the flash grenade and knife him. Most of the time you won't get grabbed nor damaged it's a lot more consistent.
It took hours, but I managed to do it, but my health was in DANGER because of it. Does that affect the S rating?
The only thing affecting your ranking is the time, saves and the use of infinite weapons. You can't use infinite guns, you only get 3 saves and you must finish under 2 h 30

- No bonus weapons
- Under 2h30
- Maximum 3 saves

Why i not get the bazoka when i passed it under 02:00 and only 3 saves ?. But i used infinite sub machines is it matters?

Feel free to disagree, but I STRONGLY recommend saving right after you get the regulator for the flamethrower in the Umbrella Research Lab. At that point, you have 30 minutes max left in the run. Much better to die and start over from there, rather than die and start all the way from pre-boss sewers. Just my two cents and experience after getting S+. Good luck everyone!

About the Aligator moment. You don't have to be scared about saving i messed up at the beginning and went to the right instead of left at the start and still had plenty of time to swing back to left again. The most important moment is to move to the left right after he does that second bite. In this moment you also have a bit gap for mistakes however he is way faster than at the first bite. And ofc good tutorial, very easy to follow especially if someone played the game normally at the start. Honestly, im reading comments rn and i don't know how people even get some of those dumb questions xD

A tip for those going in the sewers, if you happen to have the mixed red and blue herbs, it should help keep you immune from the poison effects temporarily if for whatever reason the Gs end up grabbing you.

For me i was grabbed like 3 or 4 times in the dark area and at the start i had to kill the zombies who burst out of the door in the east area. Everything still worked out to be fine. I did a similar run for my S+ run with both Leon & Claire. Subsequent playthroughs typically end around 1:40 - 1:50, which is fine for me.
When going to STARS office to pick up the battery, I bring only ammunition that I csn stack with whatever I have in the inventory + flashbangs, since you need to use one on the licker.
In the library, you can leave the zombie by the door- just keep your distance and shoot the wandering one.
Other than that, your guide is very good. It’s just that I got used to running with as little items as possible on me, just in case

Thanks a million! This was a geat guide 🙏 For people having trouble using the shotgun on the final tyrant fight like I did: Shoot a fully loaded shotgun at him at the beginning. Then use the flame thrower and hand grenades (I had 4 saved up). After the grenades are used up, throw flashbangs (I had 3) to stun him and burn him with the flamethrower. That'll keep him from doing anymore attacks until the rocket launcher drops. I still had 2 flashbangs and a lot of flamethrower left after the fight so I felt it was much easier this way. The shotgun kept leaving me open for attacks from him. Good luck everyone!

Thanks dude for anyone else who didn't do a flawless run check your time when you load. My last save I had 17 minutes left to 2:30 limit died instantly, loaded and only had 15 reload only 10 then again for 17 minutes
this is a big problem if you're not looking out for it. players should always reload from the main menu rather than resuming automatically because the counter will add the wasted time. so annoying to discover this after a failed run.
Got standard s+ rank thanks to this guide in 2 hours 1 m and only died to the last boss fight. At least I learned a bit if I ever go for hardcore. I got grabbed so many unlucky times and got chased by mister x during the despawn licker area trick.

I did it! Final time of 1:59:06 on hardcore. I got scared and saved at the start of the NEST but I'm glad I did because I took a few bullshit RNG deaths. I had to do the whole nest about 7 or 8 times but once I finally beat birkin I killed Mr X on my first try by spamming flashbangs and heals. Never could have done it without this guide, thanks bro.

In the final fight with tyrant/mr x all you need is 3 grenades. Its a timed fight and every time mrx gets stunned the timer gets faster maximum of 3 times. Then dodge him till you get the launcher. Ive seen the datas so its confirmed. Hope it helps
