“If you had any questions, let me know. If you hate it, don’t let me know!” 🤣🤣 love it! And I love this build. Almost exactly what I’m imagining for my RAV4!
When I read "keeping rear seats" I expected either to be: click baited, disappointed or pleasantly surprised...it was the later! Absolutely great job!, the sleeping platform is perfectly designed and seems very comfortable, the stove drawer was genius; and best of all it maintained the Rav 4 original configuration! I'm impressed!
Brilliant! So simple and minimal...elegant and functional! The supports for the front bed pieces aren't even attached. So efficient using plywood for the drawer. The drop pins...fabulously simple and clever. Love it all!!
Girl. This is the perfect build. Thanks so much for a fabulous and versatile build, and sharing it with folks. Seriously, the consideration for still being able to use the back seats and not doing any permanent modification to the inside of the car is just awesome! Happy camping, and thanks again :)
Don’t have a rav4 but I have a Scion xB and this is giving me a ton of ideas. This is the best raised bed setup I’ve seen for more compact vehicles! Have fun and be safe out there!
I've 2015 Rav4 XLE. Same interior as yours. I really like your idea of keeping the back row seats. Earlier, I thought about taking it out. This is a better idea now. Thanks to you. I would recommend you to keep cargo net on the ceiling for extra storage.
I love this idea we have a rav 4 and going to start camping and I love the simplicity of this and still being able to use my rear seats too Thank you for sharing 😊
Good work and neatly done, I've a RAV4 myself and I've often said to my wife we should throw a mattress in the back and just lie there and save money and go exactly where we want but she's having none of it she's gotten to used to the luxury life of hotel stays, i hope you have a good time with your mini house on wheels good luck from Ireland
Oh wow, I came across this looking for inspiration for my 2017 RAV4 and this is exactly what I was looking for!! Thank you so much for sharing and the step by step is so great!! Thank you THANK YOU!!! Love love LOVE!!!!
Nice setup! To prevent hitting my head against the roof when waking up, I think I would build mine a little flatter. But you definitely gave me some inspiration on design and material choices!
Thanks so much for the inspiration and design! I did a very similar version for my 2016 RAV4. I would add pics but I don’t know how. My dimensions for the 2016 were 40” x 24, 32 & 17. Overall height of 12in. I didn’t have to add extra 2x4 supports in the middle piece because it rested directly on the lowered seat as the hump is bigger in the later models. So stoked about this! Gonna have some great camping memories!!! I’m a big fan of not setting up a tent when I don’t have to. Window screens are a must.
I like this a lot. It's perfect for shorter trips and inexpensive camping when the other necessities are available, ie. bathrooms and places to shower. I'd enjoy going on trips without renting cabins or hotel rooms and gaining time in the great outdoors, which I miss. Also, this is a simple build for a senior when you want a camper and not a home. Thanks very much for showing this to us.
Thanks for sharing. I have been watching a number of videos with several "no builds" (where you do not significantly alter the vehicle). I like that you were able to keep the back seats. I also like that you mentioned the head space being somewhat low, yet able to give you some room. You did a wonderful job. It will help me to evaluate which vehicle is best to use for car camping (that is not as big as a van, which has the challenge of using a lot of gas).
Great design, the fold down drawer end was a clever way to add extra work space. This inspired me to do something similar to my Subaru Impreza soon, but I want to design a way to lock another drawer for my laptop bag
i think this is the best platform I've seen. i have a highlander and i didn't want to lose the back seating. as i carry passengers once a week and i don't want to load and unload a platform. mine will be different but the folding the platform in half and the drop pins are definitely something i am considering.
That is amazing!! Thank you for showing it! I’m planning to buy a rav4 and one of the main reasons was to be able to sleep in the car, when driving here in Europe. However, a sleeping bag was what I had in mind... I’ll see if I can find someone that could build something like that! I’ll show them your video! Thanks again!
Really like this setup, great job!! I have a Santa Fe and still want to use the back passenger seats. Your sliding drawer for the stove is very cool. Thanks for sharing, gives me some ideas on how to do my conversion. :)
Dear Sarah- Well done! I was "waffling between buying a KIa Niro and a RAV4. I don't think the Kia has the length in back for someone 6'3". That nudges me towards the RAV4. Drawer is great, especially the fold down face. One can get to the spare tire, if necessary, but today's tires are pretty durable. Thanks, Craig
Nice design and demo! Ideas you've inspired are going with lighter 2x3's on vertical edge for strength , thinner plywood to act as flex boxspring and making more shallow for headroom, which means less storage and maybe no drawer. Adding over the door screens, fan and tailgate tarp privacy system with collapsible campchair/toilet combo AS I'm only looking for overnight options for destination travel as not sure how safe some hotels are vaporwise. FOR longer term like yours, stove drawer is great. Add a solar shower and popup screen/tarp, electric 6pack cooler and you can really travel!
This is awesome! I was wondering how I could build a platform that I could store in my apartment storage locker, this is a great idea. I also love your drawer that turns into a bit of a table, such a great idea!
That's cool. I can't wait till I fix mine too. I won't have to go back home after school before going to work. I can just nap in the car and save me some time 😴
Thought the drawer and drop pins were clever ideas. Very nicely done.
Great ideas! Love the drop pin idea and drawer w stove!
You havent used nails but you nailed it completely...Very well done and simplistic too.
“If you had any questions, let me know. If you hate it, don’t let me know!” 🤣🤣 love it! And I love this build. Almost exactly what I’m imagining for my RAV4!

I really like your design, because it makes use of your car space without any modifications.
Brilliant! So simple and minimal...elegant and functional! The supports for the front bed pieces aren't even attached. So efficient using plywood for the drawer. The drop pins...fabulously simple and clever. Love it all!!
Carole Lee Thank you!
Thanks for showing us under of the platform! You did it easily with your phone and many people don't show that part. Super helpful.
Girl. This is the perfect build. Thanks so much for a fabulous and versatile build, and sharing it with folks. Seriously, the consideration for still being able to use the back seats and not doing any permanent modification to the inside of the car is just awesome! Happy camping, and thanks again :)
yes dear
Great example of what can be done with all the seats left in place. Thanks for sharing.
Wow! This is such a nice set up. I love that you made it so you could still have your back seats. Great use of the space!
Outstanding Sarah!I have a 2015 Rav4 and your ideas are very helpful. Many Thanks
That's a fantastic idea on how to keep your back seats...Your very clever, and your carpentry skills are so good!! Thank for sharing👍
Don’t have a rav4 but I have a Scion xB and this is giving me a ton of ideas. This is the best raised bed setup I’ve seen for more compact vehicles! Have fun and be safe out there!
I love the way you kept the utility of the RAV4, and made it even better. The drop pins and the stove drawer are inspired - thanks for sharing!

Talented lady. I’m about to build one in my Rav4 and am very glad I seen this. Extremely well done. 😉 Thank you for your great idea.
Brilliant! Been trying to find a way to keep my rear seats. This is awesome!
I just did the platform. The drawers and storage boxes, I just bought to dimension. Nice work. The carpeting is a nice touch.
That's awesome! I hope the system treats you well and good luck on your adventures !!
I'm so excited because this is the exact car I have and I love finding videos that are specific to my vehicle. You are a genius! Thank you!!
Thank you for sharing how you built yours. I am working on my RAV4 2019, I will try our your way🙏❤️
Very cool. This is a great idea! Especially since the seats don’t really go flat
I love this idea we have a rav 4 and going to start camping and I love the simplicity of this and still being able to use my rear seats too
Thank you for sharing 😊
Very impressive, clever and totally does the job. Congratulations and best wishes on your travels.
Well done Sarah ! My daughter is going to do the same in her RAV 4 and you have helped her with some great ideas . Thanks !
That's great! Good luck to her on her build!
I hope your wife's mind change :)

Thank you Sarah! This idea is so helpful for keeping access to my 2nd row of seats. I definitely want a drawer too.

I love it. The drop pins are inspired.
Well done video too.
Beautiful. I plan on getting a Rav4, my build will be something like this, I love it all. Great video!.
Just watched a lot of videos on RAV4’s I like your idea the best good job
I love the drawer face hinges and low profile sides. Very nicely done, thank you!
Nice job young lady... I like the hinge idea on the extending the work platform...smart.
Superbly comprehensive explanation and video. One of the best I've seen. Thanks very much!
Nicely done. Going to steal some of your ideas. Thanks for sharing!
Nice design and build, excellent video. Thanks!
You seem like a nice young lady Sarah, not only for sharing your wonderful idea but you have taken the time to reply to questions. Safe travels Sarah

Wow, I love the design. Removable legs with drop pins!
Brilliant!
Thanks for sharing.
Very nice...I was also thinking of putting another shelf above for table umbrella chairs etc.
This was the most helpful video for my build. Thank you!
That’s very ingenious 🧐 how you did that🤩. I really like it 😍thank you so much for the video👍
That looks great. I like the simplicity of the solution.👍
Great job! One of the best for versatility and quality I've ever seen
Great design, the fold down drawer end was a clever way to add extra work space. This inspired me to do something similar to my Subaru Impreza soon, but I want to design a way to lock another drawer for my laptop bag

So, it’s evident that the Rav 4 seats don’t fold completely flat. You have a good solution. Thanks.
Really good planning...... We have a Rav4 and i saved this vid incase we decide to do it
Gonna do a build for a 2017 Kia Sportage. Your ideas will definitely be used in my build. Thanks for the video.
Very nice and simple. I could probably do that to my Ford Escape Thank you!
good job sarah! this has motivated me to sleep in my car
Great build!!! I want to do one for my Mazda CX-5! Grammas gotta keep back seats!!!
This is such a solid setup, thanks for sharing Sarah!
Really like this setup, great job!! I have a Santa Fe and still want to use the back passenger seats. Your sliding drawer for the stove is very cool. Thanks for sharing, gives me some ideas on how to do my conversion. :)
thanks! good luck with your own conversion!
Love your work . Thank you for sharing. I m planning to make our Pacifica into camper for summer...
brilliant! This is now my project for the month of May to get my ready for some camp-offroading! :)
Love my Rav 4, you should post designs, all you need is a roof tent and its good for 3 people 😀
Great design. I'm hoping to do something similar for my 2017 Rav. I think the dimensions are pretty similar. Thanks for sharing.
Great ideas! I refuse to take out the back seats for weekend trips, and I don't want a prermanent bed in the back; this is a perfect compromise.
Very nice. I have 2016 RAV4 hybrid which has an annoying bump to build over and back seats don't fold flat. Your videos give me ideas. Thanks.
Gorgeous! Super amazing no-build build. This is exactly what I'm aiming for. Thanks heaps for this! All the best, Sarah! :)
I really just came for an idea of the dimensions of the cargo area with seats folded down. Bless you and your video description (71x43)!
Well done, thank you Sarah. I really like building the platform in separate sections and also am going to copy your draw design if you don't mind :-)
Nice design and demo! Ideas you've inspired are going with lighter 2x3's on vertical edge for strength , thinner plywood to act as flex boxspring and making more shallow for headroom, which means less storage and maybe no drawer. Wow dude you're innovative 🔥
Got a lot of ideas from your video
Good job, this appears to be the best design for a bed and storage. 😍
Very practical, well done doll on a very sweet build
Hey Sarah! I have a Rav 4 2019. This is perfect idea. Thanks for the video!
I really like your build too. Gives me confidence to try making the drawer. Thanks for sharing this with us.
Fantastic and thanks for sharing! Easy to modify to fit almost any vehicle/minivan.
Thank you! And absolutely, it is very adjustable!
Love this. This is exactly what I’m wanting to do. Thank you, very informative.
Nice, elegant solution. Well executed! 👍
Superb custom job, well done, love it!
Thanks Robert!
Okay wow. This is perfect. Exactly the kind of setup I’ve been looking for. I might have to do this.
You did a wonderful job on your build
Can you make another one set up for sleeping like courtains installations and cooking as well? Id love to see how it works
Really nice platform and I love that you kept your seats. I would like to do something like this but I would definitely need some help
Nice design, I'm impressed.
perfect. exactly what i was looking for. i too want to be able to use the rear seats. love the drop pin idea
This is an amazing yet so simple build! Thank you for all the details.
Good job! You go girl 💪. Very well explained.
Very nice Sarah! Much love to you 💕
Well done, Sarah.
Nice build. I'll incorporate your ideas into my build. Thank you
Very innovative. Great job!
You should post some video of your daily life while youre camping! How you handle staying warm, power, etc
This is a really great design. I am actually in the process of doing the same thing to my trailblazer
This is awesome! I was wondering how I could build a platform that I could store in my apartment storage locker, this is a great idea. I also love your drawer that turns into a bit of a table, such a great idea!
Very nice build. Thoughtful and well made
This is awesome, definitely something I'm going to try
Awesome job Sarah! Thnx so much! :)
Nice design. I'm thinking of buying a 2021 RAV4 for my Alaska drive. Might build something like this. Thanks.
Neat idea with that hinged drawer front. Saved in the ideas folder ;-)
I'm totally gonna do this(with adjustments) in a '94 Ford Explorer I wanna use for camping. Nice!!
That's cool. I can't wait till I fix mine too. I won't have to go back home after school before going to work. I can just nap in the car and save me some time 😴
Great ideas and craftsmanship! Thanks for sharing!
Nice bed build
