My name is Sunshine and I've been a Las Vegas local for the last decade. As a child of a U.S. Navy parent, I understand what it's like to be the new kid on the block. If you're new here, or thinking about moving to Vegas, you're not alone. Welcome! Moves here two years ago I live at Enterprise area and it’s amazing! Very safe and fun!
Whoaaaa I literally had to look up Enterprise LOL I’ve always heard of it but never really knew what part of Vegas exactly that was. just called that part of town “Southwest” 😅 the more you know. Great side of town though, it’s so nice there!

Mskay33 Thank You for your comment, I definitely believe you and will take your word for it over a lot “other” folks on here who have no real concept of what WE consider Dangerous in comparison to Philly, NYC, Chicago and Compton etc lol
right on mskay33. i'm in norf (north philly) myself and on my way there in maybe jan or feb. thanks for the comparison. i doubted it's as bad as here, if for no other reason than over there it's less densely packed (than here) and it's too damn hot to be outside playing around in the mojave desert. lol.
Jack Manor I’m sure you will like it, I think it’s overrated. You shouldn’t have a problem here . The gangs died down a lot . So stay neutral and don’t trust nobody and you’ll be fine

I live on Neliis and Charleston and I have never had an issue. Never broken into, never had my car broken into. Keep to yourself and don't look for trouble and you won't find it.
Aaron Smith Vegas isn’t dangerous, but when i stayed on Charleston in Nellis. Someone broke into my car and stole my music out my driveway.

Nothing in any part of Vegas looks like ANYTHING in the rough areas of Detroit, Chicago or New York, or Philly or Baltimore. Sure MS13 is over in N. Las Vegas....but there are no tenement buildings, everything is flat.

@Craig O I've heard the same. So basically if you're planning on having a family in clark county be prepared to send them to private school right?

I just moved to Henderson this past feb the 4th which was my birthday anyway omg da landscape alone keeps my spirits up only thing I hate is I dnt know anybody here have nobody to talk to but even with that its still amazing ❤
I love driving around and seeing the views of the mountains towards the West! The sunsets are beautiful as well. Glad you can appreciate the landscape, welcome to Vegas! er.. Henderson!

sunshinedelights- did you move to vegas/nevada or were born there?
moving there from philly. i am not worried about trouble, tho i prefer a place where i can be left alone. preferably 20-30min away from the strip. i looked at land in pahrump on my last trip - i liked that hr drive. bad idea to be that far? i'm not rich but i want land, land and land. i'd live in a tin can if it's on an acre. lol.
Finally, i am also interested in Pahrump, no one does any videos on the outlining cities of Vegas. I am born in raised in L.A. so i am sick of being so close to neighbors, want so land. They have beautiful, big homes there for a fraction of what they cost here in CA.
What area you think is the best to live and be close to gyms.

Since you’re talking about safety, maybe you can also address some of the natural dangers. My sister lives out there now (she moved there from LA), and she talks about dealing with scorpions in her house. Anything else we should be aware of?

See, ive been researching Vegas for a year now and never saw anything abt scorpions until my daughter brought it up and now im terrified. We live in L.A. and are moving in 2022 either to Vegas or staying here. This scorpion thing has got me thinking.

I am looking to move to Vegas from Pittsburgh, PA in the next 2 years. I make enough to live comfortably with the money I have coming in, however, I was wondering how much I would need to move out there initially? I want to be comfortable with touching my monthly income. How mus to live for the first 2 years? weekly? monthly? yearly? $250,000-500,000 to move out and get settled for 2 years? more? less? please respond, I can't get an honest answer!!!
would you say it varies greatly by neighborhood? for example could you compare the northwest with the area around the north end of the strip?

I think so. I guess it just depends on whether or not you mind commuting a little more. I think at one point I would have rather lived closer to the Strip for the sake of not having to drive as far for things, but I'm becoming more and more okay being further out these days lol
Is Green Valley Ranch, Anthem, Westgate, Paradise, a good area?
Very much yes to the first two, no to paradise and I’m not sure what westgate is; if you’re talking about the hotel/casino that’s also in the paradise area, which again is a far cry from anything resembling paradise lol.

Do you see yourself living in Vegas forever? I know say forever can be overwhelming. But, at least until you retire?
If I wanted to settle in one place for a while, I wouldn't mind it being Vegas at all. Lots of space, great cost of living, job opportunities, fun stuff going on all over town. I still want to travel and experience different places so that's the only reason why I wouldn't necessarily stay here 'til retirement.

@BlackBeauty You are joking right? The three in Detroit are MGM Grand Detroit Casino, MotorCity Casino, Greektown Casino. The MGM Grand in Detroit is a motel (400 rooms) compared to the world-class MGM in Vegas (8,000 rooms). Vegas has 150 Casinos...another 50 Casinos surround Vegas in Red Rock and Laughlin, Rancho Rd and out to Boulder City. Btw. There are 250,000 rooms in Vegas hotels. You might want to visit sometime and stay in one. It's called the real deal.

I’m moving to Henderson from Orange County. I’m born and raised in Southern California and I’m making the move in May. I was able to transfer to Vegas for work and I BOUGHT A HOUSE in the Cadence community. I NEVER thought that I would be able to say that bc of how expensive CA is. We’re building it from the ground up and it will be ready hopefully by May. I’m so excited!
Is it safe for two girls to travel nightclubbing etc? Its me and my sisters 21st bday and it would only be us two traveling there is it dangerous please respond im looking for the female perspective

Hey girl! Sorry for the late response :( I honestly think it's fine as long as you stay safe and aware of your surroundings. Standard club/city safety- Stick to busy, well lit areas. Always watch your drinks. Don't go anywhere alone. Valet park if you're driving, the garages can get questionable at night. Other than that, the hotels (on the Strip at least) are pretty nice, busy, and well staffed.
What about creeper crawlers?!? Scorpions, spiders and snakes?!? 😬
What about right off the strip? Say Koval lane apartments?

How much is the car insurance?
sly pan I would say in my experience, the highest in the country. I paid less in New Jersey(Jersey has some of the highest rates in country), it was a shock. For full coverage I pay over $300 a month at State Farm. Like the young lady says, it’s because it’s VEGAS and drunk driving.
More because road accidents and auto theft are common.

School system is second to lowest in USA. AWFUL 😢
Love some of the insights, but a little confused about the breaking. Is that old history, since it seemed it was your parents home, not your's. You did say early in vlog, you don't stay places long to renew lease? Safety is about being aware of your surroundings, and avoiding areas you know are not safe, very town has them.
I wouldn't want to live in NE, East or anything near the strip. Henderson, Summerlin and NW are my personal preferences.

They're so awful, honestly
Not going to contest that they're among the bottom ranks. But there are good programs and schools out here. South side/GV has good public schools. The private schools are excellent, but there are also what's called Magnet Schools which have career driven tracks. Kind of like majors. Those are good too.

Hello beautiful young lady do you know where I could find a very nice senior apartment
The ex-gf first moved into a gated community (condos) and it felt less safe than the house she recently moved into (not gated) and it's very close to the same area. She gets off work in the evening and goes to the gym alone. She's Asian under 5'0 / 100lbs and she's never mentioned not feeling safe. I taught her to yell 'FIRE' instead of help because a fire will get others attention because it can affect them and yelling 'help' lots of people won't want to get involved so it's less effective. Also KICK HIM IN THE JIMMY!!! Pepper spray was bought years ago so she probably needs new one now that I think about it...I'm more worried for her now listening to you. LOL Not really, it's all about environment and situational surroundings. She's really intuitive and has seen her life increase in abundance from taking chances. Her positive outlook has worked well and attracts the right people into her life. Environment and attitude plus with moving to Vegas EXPECTATIONS. She makes good money but tips and commission. Here she made that and hourly plus benefits, time off etc...Not much of that there in her industry but she's happy and she'll get it as she builds a reputation in her field. At least that's what I keep telling her. Also helps to have a good support group. Go team go... LOL

Stay out of the bad areas like North Las Vegas,and mind your own business, you’ll be fine.

@Dustyn Kooken - It is more a overall feeling. Everyone is a hustler and trying to take advantage of you at every moment. Everyone is a scammer in their own way. Either a upsell, plain lying to you, fees, etc. The town is built on casinos which is to rip you off slowly at games they have a advantage at. Now they just fee you and then tax you on that fee. That whole attitude creeps off the strip. Things just pop off really fast, people pull guns on people whether to defend themselves from being threatened or to try and rob someone. I don't care how nice a area she says. Home invasions happen everywhere, even in the richest most security areas. Cause alot of the time the secuirty people are doing inside jobs. A while ago there was a drug deal gone bad at Paseo Verde Pkwy and Stephanie St. which is very close to some of the most expensive homes in Henderson. She even says she does not go out to gas stations at night. Lot of gambling degens whether rich looking housewifes, casino workers, clubbers, etc. So lots of ho-okers or the nice way of calling them "sugar babies". Take whatever she says with a grain of salt. Her mom is a real estate agent. Do you think she would ever tell you this housing market is at at 2008 housing bubble prices and have a affect on her ability to make money. Just like casinos never stop you from gambling when they know you have a problem. If your not from here drive around and you will see tons of pawn shops, check cashing, bail bonds, shady lawyers, shady looking people. Everyone and their mother, sister, aunt, grandma is a real estate agent!
My sister lives in Columbus, OH and she doesn't go to gas stations at night by herself. And the area is generally safer than Las Vegas.......so?
I would never move there!! Too hot. She’s not around the crime sections! It’s a bunch of BS! She says GOOD neighborhood which implies that their are BAD neighborhoods which is crime ridden!
