If you're looking for a way to mount your starlink tripod on a metal roof, but drilling holes is not an option, putting magnets on the tripod legs might be a reasonable option.
David, you're a genius. I spent many years as a satellite tech, and drilling holes into a roof was something the customer always balked at. In fact, we made them sign an "OK-release" form.
Love this channel. Simple name, nice speaking voice, always to the point. Keep em coming sir!
That's ingenious. It's definitely cool that you could make it work, and Starlink is great for rural areas like that anyways.
U have a great channel… a lot of stuff young people
Can do and try. Thanks
You could also add some shim to level the antenna.
Good idea, but n this case the signal was so strong, I wouldn't bother.
I would rather risk losing the starlink signal to movement than drilling holes in the roof!
First! The only issue I can see is that with moderate winds you may lose the connection if the unit tilts too much. Trying to get the wife to take another trip to Gold Beach Oregon so we can stop and say hi again. Thanks Dave.
You're always welcome to stop in, should you be going this way. ;-)
@@GrantsPassTVRepair Come visit me too Dave, i have something to show you...
Very clever and useful!
I'm glad you're sharing all this information with us thanks so much
My starlink has been mounted just like this for over a year. I got it on the only part of my roof that is flat enough and not surrpunded by antennas. It complained about being at an angle for a few days then it updated and hasnt had an issue since. My internet is lightning fast and i have 99 percent connection except i do loose it when a really good size supercell comes through.
Good idea.
Brillant!
Thanks for sharing!
wow! this is very smart
How expensive is the service Grant ?? Nice solution to the mounting without drilling holes. Can I make a suggestion from experience using magnets to mount things outside Sir ?? The ones that are not plated and epoxy coated resist the weather way better. Thanks for sharing too. Peace vf
I generally charge two hundred to mount a satellite dish on the roof, and run the cable into the house.
That is a fair price Giant. Job well done. @@GrantsPassTVRepair
Thanks.@@victoryfirst2878
I'd think wind would make it wobble and lose signal. Or can it adjust to the movement?
Would quadpod be proper?
Very cool! Thanks Dave. Leave it to a Magnet expert. Have you thought of selling Starlink Magnet mount kits?
The thought had crossed my mind. Better yet, sell the idea to Elon Musk. ;-)

They told me not to bc of interference! 😂😂😂 yeah right
This is not a tripod sir
You might have a strong enough magnet but you ain't got the material of metal for it to bond with.... sorry
