i once played a sim i made a storm chaser. had the storm chaser trait and the only way he was allowed to earn money was with taking pictures/drone footage of storms
I always thought the Professional Slacker trait meant Sims can show up late/skip work/slack off at work without their career performance going down, in which case it would be pretty great. But I haven't actually tested it so I don't know if that's true.
The waterproof trait is actually one I use a lot for outdoorsy sims or when I play rags to riches. Sims will get tense if they're outside in the rain for too long and with this trait I don't have to worry about how long I'm outside. I tend to have a lot of my sims needing to do stuff outdoors and the weather in the sims is kinda all over the place, so this trait can be really handy.
I agree with most of these except for Beguiling. It's a bit expensive but basically can eliminate all negative moodlets on other sims that your sims have romance enabled with. It's really worth trying out as well if trying to complete Serial Romantic or the horrifically difficult Villainous Valantine aspiration. No more sadness, anger, embarrassment, tense emotions, etc.
The thing about the Shrewd and Thrifty traits is, if you have you Teen sims who are living with your Adult sims they can just automatically get the Shrewd and Thrifty traits then when they move out they can use those bonus traits to their advantage and it’s really helpful. When you’re starting them out independently. I actually use that a lot when I’m playing multiple households in one save and (not cheating money when I move the younger gens out.)
Companion's actually OP. The two interactions I've found are Share Burdens and Lend Emotional Support. Share Burdens is kind of good: it allows your married sims to split needs, so if one has 25% sleep and the other has 100% it'll split them both to ~62.5% sleep. It's kind of niche, but very powerful in those cases. Lend Emotional Support on the other hand is insane: it HARD ERASES any negative moodlets. I haven't found a limit to the moodlet duration, but I've tested it by killing a sim on the lot and just instantly erasing the 2 day Sad +2. I don't play with cheats/mods, so any trait that effectively emulates a cheat is an instant S-tier for me. Same with Shrewd (+5% weekly interest that stacks), Potion Master (+100 to any mood for 4hrs), and most of the celebrity perks and "no-decay" traits
The animal affection trait is pretty cool IMO because you can get aspiration points much faster! If you pet an animal it gives 100-250 points and it’s great for stocking up on potions.
I feel like the essence of flavour trait is kinda useless since in Sims 4 cooking skill is very easy to improve and it's hard not to make excellent meals (my sims were able to cook them on a cheap stove with low cooking skill). I recall in the Sims 3 cooking skill was way harder to develop as well as you had to buy receipes and so on, that was fun. Im many ways I still like Sims 3 more
i've done the strangerville mystery storyline a few times--the fan mail is sometimes letters, but more often than not weird gifts like an expired fish or a future cube or a lump of clay. very similar to the fan mail celebrity quirk in get famous.
An aspiration tier list sounds fun! Under what conditions would you tier them though? How many goals/how difficult it is to complete? Of course the final reward traits would be in but I can't think of anything else to rate them by
I would probably rank them based on what the goals are, if there are annoying ones. How fun they are to do, that kind of thing. Some of the levels don't really make sense or are boring or take way too long to complete
6:34 Always wondered how Carl's Sim Guides got the exact % of each xp boost thing in the game, from clubs to moods and traits. Hope they add them in the wiki some day
I think Carl goes into the actual game code and looks at the individual…modules? Chunks? Commands? Whatever you call the units in which it is programmed. He goes under the hood, so to speak.
you can have multiple bonus traits. at least aspirational. Imagine teen aspirations would work the same as if you get the toddler bonus traits or child aspiration completions.
Beguiling gotta be S tier for if you're on a mission to get something done, or trying to speedrun a relationship from start to finish. It's a wonderful trait, i rarely use it now as my Sim is in a poly relationship and she doesnt ever need to use it but it was incredibly helpful during both Villainous Valentine and Serial Romantic, just to speed things up and ensure gold rank dates. My all time favourite is definitely the Player trait, it has such a significant impact on gameplay and allows for polyamory - sucks that polyam is locked behind a reward trait but it's still a fantastic trait to have. You can equip it with cheats too, so that you don't have to complete serial romantic to have a polycule. Inspired explorer is extremely helpful too, love inspired explorer and i wish I'd started using it sooner.
The Great Storyteller Trait is actually helpful because everyone who hears the stories gets a good moodlet from “hearing a good story.” It also increases Charisma skill when you tell good stories.
I often pick out an aspiration depending on the bonus trait and once I am in game I change the aspiration but still have my bonus trait. For example I play a sim as if they got connections to get a free spa card. But I don't play the wellness aspiration.
I haven’t gotten far enough into the video yet to see what you say about the outdoor Retreat aspiration, but that is one of my favorites as it dramatically decreases sleep time in tents. Like nothing can beat it not even a fully upgraded expensive bed. My sim can go from passing out to full energy in 2.5 hrs from sleeping in a tent with this trait. For comparison, based on my testing fully upgraded beds (even expensive ones) are a little under 6 hrs from 0 to full energy! They also get some energy gain from sitting around on camping furniture (like if sitting around a campfire) and positive noodles from sleeping in tents, using tarp or outdoor showers, and sitting on camping furniture.
subscribing to the aspiration ranking idea as well! i love the way you explain and analyse things, tbh. it's pretty interesting and i get to know something new and/or see some things from the point of view i haven't considered before thank you for your great vids
I love Shrewd trait. I'm doing a legacy challenge, and as each heir reaches the top of their career the money rolls in. The family are now mult-millionaires, and they get a deposit of almost 500,000 simoleans each time. Every time a family member moves out (into the unplayed bin) I send them off with a lot of money.
I use alot of these traits already when I played the Not So Berry challenge and just normal gameplay as for Beguiling, it worked out great for me in Not So Berry. Storm Chaser is S tier for me! I love bad weather in rl and I also want my Sims to love them as well! 😄 Never Weary I used for storytelling in my Cagyn story with Morgyn is still a spellcaster but is a Wizard/Vampire hybrid now when Caleb bit them🥰 It's not in the story that Caleb turned Morgyn though, I just did random slideshow videos with Role play Caleb biting Morgyn with mods I have in my game 😉 Maybe your next ranking video could be Sim foods? 🤔
That story sounds awesome! I should really use storm chaser more. ooh ranking sims foods is a good idea! I probably couldn't rank all of them but I could maybe do some iconic ones.
having the essence of flavor trait letting sims make and research experimental dishes would be super neat! my sim with a high wellness skill unlocked the superfood salad recipe, and my other sim could prepare a high-energy protein plate when energized (that might also be because they had high fitness skill, I can't remember). There's also heart-shaped cookies your sim can make if they're flirty. It'd be pretty cool if sims with the essence of flavor trait could make these special recipes whenever they wanted!
Professional Slacker means that no matter what you do at your job your sim never gets demoted or fired. Like you can just skip work for days at a time with no real punishment. Your boss will call you and tell you to do better, but doing better isn't necessary for keeping your job or the job levels you've already gained. I personally find it really fun to give this trait to nepobaby sims.
I would disagree with the Hero of Strangerville trait, because it really doesn't do much. You get one interaction, where the sims just talk. The fan letters are kinda like the Get Famous fan letters, so they just clog up your mailbox
ah okay, I didn't know that because I've never actually completed the Strangerville mystery lol so I was just going off of the description of the trait
Oh you're right, idk how I missed that one! I would probably put it around B tier. It kind of makes sense for the aspiration but I'm not sure I'd ever use it unless I was doing specific gameplay where like I was trying to take over the world with my vampire offspring lol. I think there could have been a more useful or interesting reward trait with that aspiration
Computer whiz let's you make money by "turking" on the computer, about 300 simoleons every couple hours. Also you can do research frenzy which gains you skills in any skill you have above level one. I find it useful if you want a sims with many skills
If you ever watched the anime K I like to use it in a similar plot point for a couple of my Sims so they can't be overthrown by each other so then give them a interest in fighting each other while still having their own lil fun activities they can do which sometimes over laps with another so there is a chance of running into each other
satisfaction Buy traits must haves are carefree, free services, and storm chaser. Carefree stops Sims from being tense, free services gives you a free maid\ gardener and nany. Storm chaser makes Sims not freak out in thunder storms, it does increase the risk to get hit with lightning but the panic every time it rains is to annoying. And yes fire immunity would work better with the culinary skill more logically, its weird for a gardening reward a better one would be cowplant immunity and ability to buy all plant seeds.
You're forgetting half of the traits effects like high metabolism makes you live much longer and essence of flavor makes food never spoil. Alluring is garbage tier, as there are easier ways to succeed in romance with a sim, vampires, celebrities and even spell casters can do so with a single glance, without ever needing this trait.
It was originally like that but it didn't make sense to me so I flipped it lol. In my mind green is good and red is bad so it makes more sense for S tier to be green
hmm I don't think there's a special one you get, so you'd just get all of the traits. Very few people are ever going to complete all of the aspirations with one sim but James Turner is trying to do that with his super sim series
Well the player trait is supposed to make it so like your Sim's partners won't get jealous. But a sim with the player trait can still get jealous. I'm not sure if that's what you're seeing

But you do need to manually achieve the traits for each individual sim.
That's true! It is nice to be able to fo that. And it kind of makes sense with how generational wealth works
Companion's actually OP. The two interactions I've found are Share Burdens and Lend Emotional Support. you can have multiple bonus traits. at least aspirational. Imagine teen aspirations would work the same as if you get the toddler bonus traits or child aspiration completions.

Not getting wet in the rain is one I use alot for Sims who are always outside. They don't get uncomfortable from the rain that's all it does

I don't know why, but I've always seen the independent traits bald eagle as a person lying on their back with their feet in the air.
This makes me want to open my game for the first time in months and make a super-sim.
Nice!!
my favorite reward trait is observant. i need to know who my sim can be friends with before they're already friends with them
Free services also work for scheduled maids and gardeners. Definitely a S for me.
Oh nice I didnt know that!
Does it work for nannys?
@@BunE22 I believe so. Haven't had a nanny for a little bit.

Player trait actually does still trigger cheating sentiments, which for the case of my Sim is useful. But UI cheats can allow serial relationships
i didn't know about a lot of these tbh so i learnt alot, thanks!
That was one of my goals for this video so I'm glad it was informative!
The collector trait also gives you the chance of getting double collectables in crystals, fossils, trophies, and minerals.
I give every one of my sims the free services, because it counts for reoccurring ones too

Storm Chaser is a godsend if your sim is living in Sulani as well. That place tends to get tons of thunderstorms.

you can sell the books you write in professorial traits also.
True, but is it any better than selling other books? Like you could just write a nonfiction book and pretend it is based on the skill
