I really enjoy these build videos where you take us through your thought process throughout the entire build. Speed builds are great, but these are my favorite. I like seeing the wacky ways you use random objects to make unique builds.
RIP. And technically there was a completely empty island closer to the volcano that he could've used. I mean I'm not mad but other than aiming for consistency in the neighborhood it didn't have to go. I can only guess he wanted to reserve the other empty lot in case he wanted to build a nice big house in the future, which is fair.
When you pulled out the bowling set I imagined bowling in a lot like this, throwing the ball too hard and it flies out of the window and into the sea LMAO
The hot tub area's roof was clipping through because of the fence around the ocean area on the interior! (Happens to any room "finished" with a fence.) James' favorite glitch in action.
The Romance Rig is such a great build! I love the entrance bridge, the bar area is gorgeous, the spot lights really make everything feel so intimate. I think the only thing ya missed was the new game from love struck 😉 woulda been great in the area you were struggling to fill in the end. ❤ LOVE IT!

Oh yes! If I remember correctly Reginald autonomously flirt with somebody during the second attempt, I love how James didn't see it at first and was just baffled
I love how u took little spaces and detailed them so much like the stage, or the bar outside, it turned out great 💜 Maybe u can make a bowling alley and spin the location wheel for the next one, bc thats the funniest one and the hardest to fit xd
I second this because we need more cool looking bowling alley lots! Apparently it requires a Bar lot type to get Sims to use it (based on the lot the devs built for the pack being a Bar and not a new type) so I'd say choose that and then pick a world. They've added bars into most of them but he could replace the one that came with the world which would be nice for the sake of variety. If all else fails, it'd be great for replacing that giant clothing store in Magnolia Promenade. Cool in theory but kind of pointless in practice (I mean if I had High School Years I'd be going there rather than the pre-existing retail clothing stores from Get to Work.)

Whenever I get High School years I'm definitely taking all of my Sims to Thrift Tea if I don't get another build off the gallery lol. I also forget the clothing stores exist until I decide to build something there and then half the time I replace them, for example a small vet clinic with an apartment on top. Which reminds me, I meant to build an even smaller one as a starter vet clinic or else a yoga studio since finding in-door space can be a little bit of a pain otherwise.

I am so happily looking forward to Romance to Riches, starring Sandalwood. I know it's a lot to ask, but I'd love it if you kept his grey-hair-and-brave-eye-make-up look. I'm so used to it by now that I've grown to love it. He somehow wouldn't be Sandalwood without it. Also this build is fab and Imma use it in my save.
I like it as a dramatic party outfit, but it’s too much for me all the time. Maybe it’s the combo of the hair cut with the grey hair and the eye make up and the track suit, but it ages him a lot. If he changed the hair style and the outfit, the hair color and make up might be ok. Or vice versa.
If I'm remembering right, he keeps the eye makeup and hair color, but nixed the green cheek stripes. Fair enough, I don't even know why green cheek makeup is in the game
This venue is so pretty, you always do the coolest builds James. I really love the entrance and front patio bar moment you created as the jumping off point for this build and your performance stage is perfect for the vibes. 🌴🥥🎶 I'm super looking forward to watching Sandalwood's story unfold in this let's play. Completely agree. It's hard to want to buy packs that don't include different versions of basic things or activities. The expansions use to be exciting.
37:54 -- the reason the roof is clipping into the room is because you have a closed "room" using a fence. Sims 4 being the Sims 4, it hates it when an outdoor structure (fence) is used indoors like that

To be fair, there's not a lot of game play in either of the packs so probably can't get a long let's play out of them anyway so should be fine time wise
One of the places i went in florida was a Kava bar. People brought small crafts /projects, (presumably college) work, lap tops, personal instruments to play (until the hired entertainment started).... People were painting, doing bead work, creating all kinds of unique art. To be fair this was an "art" neighborhood. I could see an island coffee bar with easels, knitting stuff, and other reasonable sims crafting items. You vould have two versions oft the venue and depending on the time if day in the game, change it to either a louge/bar or coffee/kava bar
Also throwback to Banana Bigwallet when you mentioned Banana, lol :). I remember an episode when Lady was just starting out. I think she was painting and the creepy guy was peering over the hedge. Classic James content :)
James I've missed these kinda of builds from you. Love them! I especially like when you don't restrict them with specific packs although I understand why you do sometimes. More epic builds please 😁
Love build videos, I’ve learned so much from you. I hope the reno is going well, Bowser is doing better with psychical therapy, and both Bowser and Fran adjusting to the reno, and temporary move. Can’t wait for more Bigwallets and Tiny Living. 💕
I don't think the hot tub needs a roof. It's nicer to sit out under the stars. And it solves all the roof problems. You could also have multiple game tables instead of having to choose some other activity to put in that space.
great build! you could use those floor glass things in that entrance area so you walk in and can look down at the fish, and then see them swimming around the trees in the open area!
Would a fence through the counters work so you could use a gate to have it looked closed? :|a You just may not be able to use those two counters for seats.
been playing DDLV since release and it's one of my comfort games! after taking a small break, i finished welcoming Tiana after i was done with the DLC. also i need to build in Sulani more, the lots can be so much better there.
Suggestion for that area that's blank by the main door: a hosts stand/podium. I'm thinking its a slightly more upscalea and expensive bar (not sure if you can do this in sims but suggesting)
For the treasure, you could add a treasure chest - I think Island Living came with one, and if it didn't you could use the Horse Ranch one if you want that old, worn down look, and so that you get surprised as well, have Deli pick a random household off of the gallery that can be deleted - or killed using MC Command Center, afterwards, and she'd have the sim dig around in the sand for at least one shell and at least one literal treasure, put them in the chest and then get killed by MC Command Center and disappear off of the face of the Sim Earth. That way, having Deli choose the sim and treasure, or just the treasure, would make you surprised as well. Or just find the Shell and Buried Treasure Collections from Island Living as a room off of the gallery, place it down, go into live mode and directly dump all of the collectibles into the treasure chest, and, so that no one can get to the chest and steal from the chest or the whole chest if they're a kleptomaniac sim, you _move_ the chest to an inaccessible place *cough cough **_-in the roof-_** cough cough*
I think the roof on the hot tub area might be glitching because of the cut out in the floor? The roof coming through is something simsie has complained about something similar on her channel and I think that’s what it was!
