I believe announcers with excitable voices bring the most passion and joy to sports broadcasting. Jim Donovan ranks right up there. Thank you for your now 38 years covering Cleveland sports at WKYC-TV, NFL telecasts on NBC, and Cleveland Browns football on local radio. Next stop: Pro Football Hall of Fame broadcaster's wing. You deserve it.
I was 18 years old sitting in my father's SUV glued to the radio when he yelled "RUN WILLIAM RUN!" Immediately iconic moment for all Browns fans. All of these years later, I still can't think of a better call since. Thank you, Jimmy.
WOW!!! This is so Cool. A True Legend. The passion he brings is like no other. I would Love to see the Browns win SB with Sir Jimmy!!!! He’s the best. Never be another like him. He’s that good.
Born and raised in Cleveland Ohio in 1984.... Anything I remember as far as Cleveland Browns calls, were the enthusiastic calls of Jim Donovan. Now when I listen to browns games 3,000 miles away, he still makes me feel like im home. God bless you JD! And I as well as so many others are so thankful for your talent and current health! Sending all love! Go browns! Go Jim!!!
Jimmy is the man! Since we're sharing memories, I have to say my favorite was turning down the TV volume and turning up the radio volume to watch the Browns with Jimmy and Doug on the call. Specifically, I remember watching (and listening to) a Browns overtime win against Seattle with my dad in 2007.
Nobody does it better! Jimmy is our voice of reason, our rock, our go to guy. Thanks for giving us 35 years of your life, Jimmy. We look forward to seeing you and hearing you for years to come.
We love you Jimmy. I remember your first week on Channel 3 when I was 12. You've become the voice of our towns sports teams. And most importantly, our Brownies. God bless you, Mr Donovan.
A total class act guy and a part of every fans life and makes you have chills holding that steering wheel going down the road thanks Jimmy for your professionalism
If there's one person in sports I can sit down and have a drink with it would be jom Donovan he comes from an area of great sports teams and he chooses to love the browns which is unbelievable.greatest Cleveland sports person ever
I was hoping to see the video from the 80s when he was at the hospital with flowers when his wife was giving birth. Since then he was my favorite sportscaster. Just a great sportscaster and a great human being. Whenever she retire those are gonna be some impossible shoes to fill. Hope he gets to call a SB.
I've been a Browns fan since they returned to the league (it was my freshman year of high-school and the same year I got talked into trying out). I've been thru more GMs/Coaches/QBs/drafts/injuries/coordinators/losses than I care to remember. There's only been one Jim for 2.5 decades. When the good Lord finally calls this man to the same mountain that I'm training for an eventual summit-attempt, you had better believe I'll be standing at base-camp to send him off.
My first time watching Jimmy D was after Browns victory over Pats, Bernie relieved an injured Danielson and fumbled his first snap taken in NFL. Jim did the highlights while Weekend Warriors, by Ted Nugent blared as Jim gave his break down of the game
What is funny if he would have stayed on NBC doing the nfl games he wouod have been on the #1 team eventually back then he was great at foing the nfl games on TV
