- In this video we have a 2008 Chevy Tahoe that came in for low oil pressure after running for a while. I started by changing the oil pressure switch and the screen but didn't solve the problem. Now it's time to change the oil pick up tube Seal. I will show you step by step how to do that and replace the oil pan gasket at the same time.

I have watched a ton of videos on how to do this. This is the best one by a large margin. I’ve never seen anyone pull the pickup tube before the pan. I like how you told us the size of the bolts too.
Thank you for watching and I really appreciate your comment. God bless.
I would of never pulled the pickup tube before the pan or replace it with the pan in the way. Smh..just more work for himself
Excellent videography and volume! Thank you for taking your valuable time in making and editing this video. I have watched and gained much information to accomplish this repair myself. May The Lord continue to Shine upon you!
Thank you for watching I do appreciate your comment. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Save time and a fight off the extra work of maneuvering stuff around. Drop the cross member and drop the front diff took him longer to maneuver then it does to just drop the diff
This is the BESt video on UA-cam on how to replace the oil pickup tube o-ring. The front diff does NOT need to be completely removed from the vehicle,, unlike the other videos on UA-cam which turn this into a tremendously huge project involving completely removing the front diff, disconnecting both the front drive axles and the driveshaft, and then disconnecting the steering column from the steering rack.
Have you ever heard of the cylinder deactivation solenoid having a leak on the Chevy 5.3 engine, causing low oil pressure issues?
Jesus christ disassemble the truck fuck what's the cost for that job approx.
So I have been battling a oil pressure problems and thought it was going to be this o ring. But because I am cheap I started with the easiest and cheapest first. I change the oil pressure sensor filter. $6, and did a engine flush followed by a oil and flitter change. Problem solved…. For now.
🤞🤞
I've seen some builds that replace the pressure reif valve in the pan with a plug. It gives you full oil pressure ar all times and keeps the oil consumption down by not spraying the oil inside the crank case . Is this valve useless ? I understood that it somehow relates to the FMS
Did you replace the rivets on the new gasket?
What should a job like this cost. I have the same vehicle experiencing the same leak. I've added Lucas oil leak at my last oil change. But i may be forced to have it serviced correctly.
A job like that is about $500 $550 for parts and labor
Thanks for the informative video. How can you tell if it is not just replacing the pick up gasket but replacing the oil pump? What will be the symptom if I need to replace the oil pump? My oil pressure dropped to 0 on me twice.
How many miles on your truck? Make sure oil level is correct, if oil pressure sensor wasn’t changed, you should start by changing the sensor with its oil screen first.
Great video I’m thinking of doing the same on my 07 Tahoe 5.3 my oil pressure on my scanner is showing 17psi at idle and 38psi at hyway speed mine goes to about 30psi at idle and 42psi hyway speed when I change oil and use 10w30 with a bottle of Motor Honey
Yea definitely with the thicker oil you will get more pressure. Good luck. Let me know how it goes plz. 🙏🏻🙏🏻👍🏻
@@a2zautomasters862 no problem I’m going to pull the diff out cause I have play on the left axle and a leak so I need to check that bearing the truck has 155k miles on it so I’m going to tackle everything this spring will definitely keep you posted

What you did strong in to draw. The French are down more easier. You gonna have a massive leak, you know?
Can you do this procedure with the truck on ramps? Or does the truck have to be supported @ frame to allow the diff to drop??
Awesome video. Best one so far. Thank you in advance
Do they still make snap ups for the oil pan gaskets?
Yes some brands still do. Very rare to see now. Not sure why
How about the oil filter by pass valve
Thanks for sharing such a knowledgeable video
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻thank you for watching. I do appreciate your comment
Thank you for posting
You bet!🙏🏻🙏🏻
What are the torque specs and torque sequence for the oil pan gasket?
Thank you for the vid
You’re welcome. Thank you for watching.
2011 with 156k on it changed oil pump ,pickup o ring and sensor oil light still comes on after few houres of driving p0521 code for switch keeps coming on any ideas? Great informative video
You need to use an external gauge and make sure it does show low oil pressure when the light comes on that’s the first thing to do. Thank you for watching.
Did you change oil pressure switch filter, is right underneath the pressure switch sensor.
@@ealva8678 yes. Always change it with the sensor
♥️♥️
Be careful with that metal pick...you gouged the tube.
That’s what it’s made for, it’s not sharp. Thank you for your concern
@@a2zautomasters862 Just sayin...you put a deep cut in the pickup tube from that pick. you can cause leaks that way if you get carried away with them.
❤❤👏
Thank you for the video. I have an 08 with a leaking pan, needing to drop it and change the o-ring while in there. How long did the whole job take roughly ?
I have a small leak where the trans meets the TC as well. Should make for a fun day. My oil pressure is backwards, 30 when cold, then 40-50 once up to temp. Have you ever seen that before ?
Hey! Sorry for the late response. This job is 3.5h going by the book. It can be done in about 2.5h
@@a2zautomasters862 awesome, thank you for the reply. I was hoping it wasn't like 8 hrs. I also recently saw my TC is leaking at the middle housing seal, and front adaptor to trans, so it'll be a long day fixing some leaks.
