  • Authorities are searching for the driver who led state troopers on a high-speed chase that ended in a four-car crash Monday night in Cumberland County. At 7:29 p.m., a state trooper attempted to stop a driver for speeding and reckless driving on N.C. Highway 87 in Harnett County. When the driver did not stop, troopers chased the vehicle into Cumberland County on N.C. Highway 24. Troopers said the chase involved a stolen white Dodge Challenger and reached speeds of 150 mph. Troopers tried to use a device to deflate the tires of the Charger, but that did not work, and one trooper was injured in the process.
The chase ended when the suspect crashed at the intersection of McKenzie Road and N.C. 24 in Spring Lake. Four cars were involved in the crash. Drivers of two of those cars were taken to the hospital, and other people had minor injuries from the crash.
The suspect driver ran away and has not been found. Troopers said they searched the area for the driver of the Challenger with a helicopter and dogs but were unable to find anyone.
A driver caught the whole thing on his dash cam.
