I'm a "PURE" archetype player. Time Thief, U.A.'s, F.A.'s, Exosisters, Sky Striker, Shiranui, Karakuri, Fur-Hire, etc. IF and that's a big if Komoney gives this more support with the theme, then I'll be down to play it. Gimme a Link, XYZ, and more Synchros just like Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagaan and it'll be my most played deck since Sky Strikers in TCG/MasterDuel
I know it's Gurren Lagann, but the painted bunny symbol on the mecha reminds me of Oban Star Racer way more. And if it wasn't for Centurion being Red Hot Calamity turbo right now, I'd love the whole theme.
@@Zetact_ When the main damn pose is Gunbuster, the main girl uses a smaller head/helmet shaped robot to combine to make a bigger one it isn't just a kneejerk reaction. Even the Japanese were.saying "GURREN!" but it also has multiple other inspirations like VS's had Blazblue as the main theme.but references fighting games in general.
@@Zeroized The crossed arms pose was prominently used in Gunbuster which was homaging Getter Robo. Gurren Lagann is literally just following through with that since it takes so much from Getter Robo. Shocking, crossed arms existed before Gurren Lagann. The archetype's tagline is even "We'll shoot for the peak!" which I'm choosing to translate like that just because it's an obvious reference to "Aim for the Top" (the literal name for the Gunbuster OVA) except using synonyms for "top" and "aim." Even Trudea being a Pyro type is a Gunbuster reference since one of the big dramatic scenes to emphasize the teamwork in the series is using the metaphor of two fires combining to become an inferno. The obvious blatant on its face reference is Gunbuster.
I do love how while having esthetic similarities to Gurren Lagann, Centurion lore focuses more on the bond between the 2 girls. Basicaly this means we shouldn't get a Trudea death scene since she can't be replaced like the big brother in Gurren Lagann
@@crusiver8453 I'm pretty sure that will be the second magical girl and probably a dark magical girl. Since the main theme of Centurion is how Team Rabbit has a bond between all 3 members. Trudea and Emet are both beloved partners of Primea, and we saw how she is willing to risk her own life for them in Faith Centurion, so I imagine the next team we get will have the pilot destroy cards in backrow( sacrificing her tools) as a way to mirror Primea's character arc
Something I just noticed: Emet means "truth" in Hebrew. (אמת) it's funny because it's one of 3 cards whose names have "truth" in it. The other 2 are Trudea and Truth (the counter trap).
Some other techs you didn't include there would be Imperial Customs, Apophis the Swamp Deity and Statue of Anguish Pattern. Customs protects your Centurion from destruction via card eff when you try to bring them out (Ghost Ogre is a hard counter to this deck). Apophis is a multi negate based on the number of continuous traps you have and is a level 6 that lets you go into level 10 plays like Baronne. Anguish Pattern is a free pop with each summon from the s/t zone for some extra field removal, while also being another level 7 to go into level 11 sync plays or rank 7 with that machina fortress.
I see the GURREN LAGANN and this archetype but to me the archetype that fits GURREN LAGANN more is the JUNK archetype because of JUNK BERSERKER especially JUNK DESTROYED and DRILL WARRIOR i know it not a JUNK card but I'm counted anyways lol but this new archetype is still awesome because you can see the GURREN LAGANN in the spell cards a lot
I really like the designs of the monsters, especially Legatia. The pink energy is also pretty striking. I might see about getting some of the cards, but who knows if I'll play it before their next wave of support.
This is a really fun deck that can play a slower game and plays on both turns letting there be a back and forth Unless you calamity lock them then its just not fun
Another possible tech pick could be Uria, lord of searing flames. Since in the spell and trap zone as traps you could sacrifice them for the cost then bounce them out of the grave back to zone
A week later, "I'm Arise-Heart, buy my merchandise to remember me" hits different. Gone, but not forgotten. I'm guessing he's sore at VS since his MVP Fenrir already jumped ship. 😂
I would say they need to have a way to protect them from card effects while in the backrow. They also need at least 2 more monsters and a Level 8 Synchro. Otherwise I might get this when its released. Certainly feels incomplete for now
I cannot wait for this archetype. This plus Horus and some Vision Resonators will create a powerhouse. Or you just cut that Jack Atlas stuff for more consistency
On the one hand, a Gurren Lagann archetype makes me excited and could get me back into Master Duel if they ever added it. But on the other hand, it's still pretty small as an archetype, and it isn't as strong as a connection to TGGL as I'd like. More mechs, more characters, maybe find ways to make them combine like how Lagann does with other mechs? Definitely need more cards though, otherwise I can't play a pure Centurion deck. Nevertheless, major points for referencing the Stab the Sky and Gainax Pose.
Hey... With all this "monsters into backrow" going on, how about: Level Monsters into Left Pendulum Zone and Link/Xyz into Right Pendulum Zone as Scales?!
This archetype and its tech options are making me want to try out some kind of silly Infernoble Therion hybrid nonsense. Could end up as a crazy Rank 8 Turbo toolbox with some 9-12s as Synchro options.

Pretty much half of the card arts are Gainax-era Mecha references (Stand-Up literally being the Gainax Pose). It's just that Gurren Lagaan is the most well known Gainax mecha anime in the west.

Because of the poses they make, the references here and there, the theme itself. Of course, I don't think it's sorely just Gurren either since Konami also likes to combine references from different things (in this case mecha and magical girls). In fact, I find it way harder to see how gold pride is redline instead of Centurion being gurren Langann.

I'm having a huge problem, i want to save gems and points in master duel for voiceless voice, but the constant "libera me from hell" that sounds in my head whenever i see this cards is too strong
its to bad that they already put "Hot Red Dragon Archfiend King Calamity" in the structure deck already. so that means the banlist wont hit it for along time. :( Get ready to use books for crimson dragon lol
I'm currently testing centurions splashed with: -bystial engine -continuous trap engine (you're finished/anguish/apophis) -pure, lots of handtraps/non engine And to be honest I can't find a single build that feels good to play, maybe I'm doing something wrong, but the archetype can't compete with the current meta (testing vs my playgroup that plays labrynth, branded, dlink, infernoble)
Have you tried the new Horus cards. There basically all level 8 and have amazing effects and lets you have easy otk potential if you need to end games quick, not to mention the rank 8 xyz. They also allow you to quick synchro if you can’t get a lvl 8 on field
as far as I am a fan of the mechas of those artworks.... I grew kinda tired of the "cute Anime girl" Fanservice part of it... they, look good, the references are epic and the colors are beautiful....it's just that, it's again a bunch of anime girls.... especially on a deck that references Gainax Mechas I would've prefered artworks which have more focus on the mechas. :I

The boss monsters are Earth Machines. I am absolutely splashing Machina Trains into this archetype and there isnt a drill big enough to stop me.
