😅Funny story. My parents sold my first car back in the day. About two weeks after the car was parked in front of our house. The police showed up looking for the driver since the car was used to rob a liquor store. Thank God my dad was smart enough to write up a note signed by the new owner and himself stating he was no longer the owner. Needless to say, I still have paperwork for cars I’ve sold throughout the years “just in case!”

I got a parking ticket from California on a car I sold in Arizona where I have lived since 2019 … ?? What I don’t own that car and sold it two years ago ? I had to get to dmv in California they told me cities sometimes ? Don’t bother to do checks ( state of California had it was in arizona) … the city was hoping I would pay a parking ticket ? I had to show proof of sale ( on line vroom helped me out ) all fixed ! What a pain !

When my granddaughter was little, she stayed with my husband & me for an extended time.
At 3 years old she would help me load & unload the dish washer and process the laundry! Then she would help fold smal towels and washcloths.
They're never too young to learn.

From my mom, the “one touch” rule: If it’s in your hand and it has to go somewhere, put it there now. Don’t lay it down so you have to pick it up (touch it) later. That way, no clutter accumulates. Except from kids who haven’t learned that yet. But they will!
Kudos for raising kids who do what they’re told without giving you any guff. They will be SO much more pleasant to be around for the rest of their lives. ❤

When I've hurt myself and had nerve damage, it took a looooong time to recover, longer than I expected. I believe the extremities take longest to recover and heal. I know you don't want to hear this, but I'd bet on 2 years. I also believe that if biking-vibrations hurt your finger, most other sports you like may as well.
Christine--it may be time to find something else, even for just a season. This could be the start of a brand-new adventure for you! ❤

I think any pressure will hurt for a long time. You will have phantom pain and when you get your blood pumping it will hurt. My son had his finger smashed under a tree a few years ago and he had numbness and pain for many months.

I decided, after years of struggling to keep up with the house, this was the year to get my act together. I am constantly decluttering and I do a quick tidy morning and night and two loads of laundry daily. I’ve also learned to ask for help and delegate tasks. It’s just so nice to be able to clean without spending an hour tidying.

Ah, you state teaching kids to help with household tasks makes YOUR life easier - yet, for the record - you are also making THEIR life easier in the future! When parents do everything for the kiddos, the kids grow up to be inept household managers. Like, uh, me. 😢. Doing laundry, tidying up, paying bills - these need to be taught! LOVE your attitude 👍🏻 (My niece caught a fellow college dorm resident cleaning his laundry with fabric softener! How sad!)

The pain thing will take awhile and the numbness 😢 rub it with caster oil. The oil is beneficial and the rubbing greatly helps the circulation and healing process! I sliced and diced my thumb a few years ago and it's healed well but is not 100% and won't be. The slight numbness is weird. Good luck!

The caster oil will help, and, if you don't have any at present, massage "gently" the area below the damaged area so the fluid inside of your hand can circulate the blood to your finger. Be patient and the finger will heal.

The best idea that I've ever come up with to help the closet clutter is to keep a separate hamper/basket under my hanging clothes. Whenever I get dressed and decide I don't like how it looks or feels, right into the basket it goes. If I don't like it today, I'm not going to magically like it tomorrow or next year.
As for the finger, my husband got a piece of wood "shiskabobbed" (the hand surgeon's words) through the tendon in his finger while rebuilding the deck. It took probably a year or so before he got feeling back, I believed the pain went away sooner. I hope it heals quickly!

Have your family help! This is my saving grace. I have 4 kids also 12-18. I have a weekly chore chart that rotates all the daily chores(dishes, vacuuming, wiping counter and kitchen floor) and weely chores (mopping, upstairs vacuum, and 2 bathrooms) I work outside the home and about 8 years ago decided I would no longer spend my weekend cleaning. About 3 years ago I cut my thumb and nearly lost the tip. Hurt like a sucker for over a year and I still have some numbness in it (nerves grow back very slow!).
I just took things one day at a time. I’d say test out biking about once a week and see how it goes. It’ll get better!
Massage vitamin E oil on the scar, it’ll help soften it and reduce the appearance. Castor oil may help as well.

When my husband worked as a machinist over a hundred years ago, he severely cut his finger-tendon and nerve damage. He did have surgery-yes, the scar tissue was very painful. He actually had physical therapy, where his hand was dipped in a mixture of melted paraffin and mineral oil, then it would be wrapped up. After a while, the wrapping would come off, and his finger would be stretched and stretched. (very painful). I don't know if your injury was comparable to his, but it took maybe a month for the pain to subside. Bonus-with the paraffin and mineral oil, his hand was very soft! Here's hoping for a complete recovery.

Christine so very sorry. Prayers for your complete healing. I had the tip of my index finger pulled off in 2009. Surgery and skin graph etc. It still hurts and cramps to this day. 5 months to actually heal from the inside out. Finger is creepy dead feeling at the tip. But on the positive note I was 64 not 24. It was my left hand and I am right handed. I am still married to my husband who accidentally slammed the truck door on my hand. Winter or cold weather makes my finger ache so bad. What does work is massage lightly by griping and twisting with the opposite hand. Common sense no bike riding.
Oh and wear the dorky plastic or metal finger protector the hospital sold you. (it will really save you a lot of embarrassment when you accidentally hit your finger in a public place)
Good video. Have a great week.

Finger~ Nerve pain may always be there ( not as severe & triggers of weather, over worked, hot or cold exposure will create the pain).
      Massage and PT.
Massage can be as simple as a coconut oil, or essential oils (peppermint/frankincense/lavendar) or OTC Nervine. Massage deep long strokes over finger and tip. Can use warm pack to soften fascia & muscles). The paraffin wax dip also helps. Doing hand stretches and grasping of small objects in a box of dried pinto beans or rice. And lastly vibration exercise....a vibration tool with levels that are placed around the area to stimulate nerves(physical therapist use them, actually patients do it themselves to control vibration and stimulation.
Give yourself atleast 10-12 months to heal. No biking 😢 Hiking? Running? Swimming?
      Good luck ❤

To reduce your finger pain, check out chatter gloves on your next bike ride. They're often used by folks who use chain saws. They're a bit heavy, but I used to lose feeling in my hands when I was working with my small electric saw, and chatter gloves extended the time I could safely work. On the scar tissue, try unscented bag balm. Great moisturizer, mild analgesic. Great video!

Omg😂I love your story about your mom lol my dad is the same way. My mom recently passed away and my dad is disabled and so my daughter and I help him out on a daily basis. We wanted to make his place easy to clean up and get rid of alot of necessary junk. He has a large collection of plastic shoe boxes in the basement filled to the brim with old utility bill statements, instructions for appliances etc. Let me tell ya it was a struggle to get him to part with these things. Finally I convinced him there is no need to save these things unless he planned on returning a fridge he's owned for 20 plus years 😂

Hypnosis help for the pain. Even selfhypnosis, there are courses. I can do a remote theta healing session for free. (I offered it to Hope from Over the median too, she broke her shoulder.) It's a meditation. For some health cases it can come to instant healing.
I suggest to go to the seaside this year. The cleanest water that you can find. Salt water or saline heal everything. Or hot springs with minerals in the water.
Time to go on that boat, Christine! 😃You will find best deals and have new tips for us. ⛵🚤

I have never hurt my finger but there are massages to break up scar tissue which I never knew for my back surgery and my scar was always itchy. I had it done in pt after shoulder surgery and it is life changing. It is not painless for sure but I have had my scar tissue on my back worked on and it feels so much better. The time for the pain to go away is a tough one based on your tolerance for pain and what sets off the pain like heat or cold or movement. You might find you can support it in some way and the vibrations hurt less. I hope you find the answers that work for you but good pt or massage therapist would be my first step.

I so understand! I cut off the end of my pinky on a mandolin. I was cutting onions. I nicked the bone. I had to have the tip sewn back on. They weren’t sure it would take but it did. It was so hyper sensitive even after it healed over. The slightest bump would send pain throughout my hand. Yes it does get better but it took a good year for the pain to subside. It happened about 6 years ago. The scarring is so much better now. It is barely noticeable. I hope your healing goes quickly. ❤

My son broke his pinky last year, right before the NICA season started. He rode the trainer indoors for a while and then roads (like you said you were trying). He thought it was about 7 or 8 weeks until he was back on the mountain. With you actually cutting through nerves, you might feel issues from that for at least a year since nerves can take 12 months or longer to fully heal. Maybe just cancel only the first race, not all of them yet, and see how you feel closer to the next one. Good luck!

When I shop, declutter or make food I think of how I can gift it to friends and family if I realize don't need it. I often give gift boxes to loved ones on holidays and often they contain things like candles, body lotions, candy, etc. that I don't use myself anymore for some reason. Some family members are unfortunate experts in giving me gifts I don't need and don't like. I usually save them and give them to someone I know will enjoy them more them me.

Hi Christine! Love your channel! On the subject of scar tissue & nerve issues, I had total knee replacement on both knees with a year. First one 10/22 & second 7/23. To date, I still have scar pain but only when I accidentally bump into something (kitchen table leg 😮!). But the pain has decreased a lot. On one side of each knee, the nerves were numb due to them being cut during surgery. The feeling took about 6 months to start coming back. For scars, I use Aquaphor ointment or ScarAway. I know my surgeries are a lot different than your injury but I thought I’d let you know that it is possible for the nerve pain to go away but it takes time. It’s prolly harder in your case as you use your hands constantly. But you’re young & you will overcome! I’m 61 so I may be a bit slower in healing!

I am at the beginning of my declutter journey ( I have been putting it off forever)- my garage is full of stuff I have not used in forever (except Christmas stuff) so this Sunday Im getting rid of at least 80% of it- and all of that couponing has left a huge surplus of items so I can now buy another storage shelf for the garage to store it all! crossing my fingers… wish me luck-

I had some broken glass cut 3 fingers, cut a blood vessel, exploratory surgery to check for nerve damage. I have drastic scar tissue that was preventing movement. Scar pain 6 months to a year! But don't stop doing what you love, you get use to it then it goes away. Thanks for the tips!❤

Our Neighbor Almost cut off 2 fingers with a saw last October. (Parts of the fingers hanging off) Major nerve damage. He had to go to PT for a while then they gave him exercises at home. He has a Harley he LOVES to ride and that was his biggest loss. He took it out this weekend and was able to shift and was so excited. Being in MN though, with even temps in the 60s, it got cold and in turned very painful quickly. He told us the grip is so much better and he's happy he can finally have full movement. It's been over 16 weeks for him and he doesn't have an issue with the terrain while riding. (Although a little different than mountain biking) His biggest thing has been that nerve damage and the pain anytime it gets a little chilly. Hopefully yours heals to the point that that doesn't last. Many prayers for a continued recovery!!

i had an injury to my finger as well. not to the extent of yours, but it did do some nerve damage. it took nearly a year for it to not feel weird when i touched it to something. Hope yours heals more quickly than mine. You’re much more active and each person heals at different times so hopefully it’ll not be too long.

I'm so sorry about your finger! I broke one of my big toes in January. The doctor said it would take 2 to 3 weeks to heal. But I'm still having a lot of pain and now he says it's just going to take a good deal more time. Not what I wanted to hear. But I wanted to do to know that I totally empathize!! I wish you all the best with your healing journey.

I haven't had finger tip damage, but I did have serious scar tissue on my foot from a surgery in Nov 2022. The doctor suggested physical therapy to break up that scar tissue...however, my family was getting ready to leave the country for 2 months...long story short, I got a shot of cortisone in my foot to break up the scar tissue. It was a miracle. It took me a full year though until my foot didn't have pain. I'm thinking with your finger (and age...which is close to mine), I'd expect 8-12 months until it doesn't hurt. The blood flow into your finger, and jostling of a bike I imagine is painful. Running might be the same, because your hand is jostling so much. I'd suggest hiking trips. Very physical, but slower pace. Happy healing!

I cut my middle finger at the top joint over a year ago. Once the wound itself was healed, I had lingering nerve pain for about 4 - 5 months. However, the overall constant pain subsided within about 30 days of complete healing. Now, I do have minor nerve numbness to this day when I actively press against it but don't notice it with general use.

You can work on desensitizing your nerves by rubbing your finger tip around in a bowl of rice. It may hurt but over time the nerves will become less sensitive. Hope this helps ❤️. Love your videos!!

I HATE making the bed in the morning…but, also HAVE to sleep in a made bed 🤣. It was a huge problem. I finally broke down and bought a Beddys, and it zips and now making the bed every morning is great. I decluttered the old beloved sheets and matching duvet.
Unlike you, I kept the matching throw pillows tho.

I grew up poor in a large family. Stuff wasn't an issue because I only had one small dresser drawer.
When I got married and had kids, I surrounded my life with stuff. Things bought at yard sales and thrift stores, but still, stuff.
Over the years I would switch things out as I relaced them with nicer stuff. I had yard sales and donated the things I no longer wanted, but still have plenty of stuff. Scarcity is a fear for me, and paralyzes me from truly letting go of things.
My house is clean and doesn't look cluttered, but I have 50+ tubs filled with stuff that I have kept on shelves in the basement or garage - depending how our house was set up. My husband and kids don't want the stuff, but I am having trouble really letting go of certain things that I no longer need or use.
Has anyone else struggled through this and able to finally let go?

I think of it if I died suddenly, and I'm just ove 40 but people do, my dear family members and teen kids would have to deal with all this stuff. That burden on them is my motivation. You would know if someone close died and you had to deal with the stuff.

I finally came to the realization that it is just STUFF that your loved ones do not want. Having it out of your life instead of worrying about it is very freeing. The money you spent for it is gone. If you donate your precious things, there is a good chance that someone else will love it as you did and give it a home. You will not care about your things when you are dead. Get rid of your bins and save your family the trouble of doing it without you. Remember, it is just STUFF! Good luck.

I too suffered a finger injury, however not my finger tip. It was back in October. My fav crockpot had a crack on the side and my stupid self picked it up by the cracked side while it was fully full. Well a ceramic shard went through my left pinky. I ended up with 6 stitches in it. It's closer to the palm of my hand but to this day it still hurts to overextend it. So I'd say it'll be at least 6 months before the pain goes away, possibly longer

The only thing I would add to your excellent list, is maybe just an additional donation bag or two. When you have younger children, it’s easiest to keep a bag in their closet and chuck stuff in when you do a quick tidy of their spaces. I usually go into their rooms once a week and I always need at least one trash bag and one donation bag. It’s amazing how quickly new stuff comes into a house with lots of people!
I’m glad your finger is healing. Thank you for the quick update. I pray for your finger whenever I think on it.

So I had the tip of my middle finger crushed and nearly ripped off in a car door when I was 17. I’m now 48. I still have sensitivity issues with that finger. I feel your pain! I was too young to have the sense of time, but I feel the healing process took a bit of time. That happened 6 weeks before my high school graduation, I didn’t have a need to do much till 9 months later, when I started college. I would heal at your own pace, test a run, see how it feels. Keep testing the bike, see how it feels. Don’t feel pressured to do something you’re not ready for.

On the finger, I sliced the end of my ring finger almost off with a new knife while camping. Severed the nerves, and it went to the nail. That was 11/2022. The skin under that nail is still tender, but I remember it hurt to the touch for a crazy amount of time. Nerve pain is just different. I was able to work out , just kept a splint/ rubber slip thing on it for a while, and took all the vitamins and supplements tot Ry to get it to heal quicker. Good luck!!!

My opposite end, foot instead of hand, has extensive scar tissue and nerve damage. Unfortunately, it may never fully heal. I still struggle with extreme sensitivity. My surgeon said it could slowly heal itself or may never go back to normal again. Three surgeries from 2020 has left me very little hope for no long-term nerve damage. I would cut out mountain biking though. The surgeon did say to try to stay away from things that irriate the nerves more especially pain versus just being hypersensitive. Wishing you the best of luck! ❤

Grew up in a family with 14 kids and my mom implemented monthly jobs to each kid. As a mom myself I have switched to that system too, and it frees up so much brain space! My kids keep track of the new month and then ask what their new jobs are. I never have to check a schedule, And after a month of doing the same job they become really efficient at it.
