Creating wealth entails establishing positive routines, such as consistently setting aside funds at regular intervals for sound investments. Financial management is a vital subject that many avoid, often leading to future regrets.

Indeed, currently I'm managing my finances wisely and being frugal. In the last 19 months, my investments grew by 43%, adding over $150K in profits. However, I've had losses in the past month, making me anxious. I'm unsure whether to sell everything or wait.

The best course of action if you lack market knowledge is to ask a consultant or investing coach for guidance or assistance. Speaking with a consultant helped me stay afloat in the market and grow my portfolio to about 65% since January, even though I know it sounds obvious or generic. I believe that is the most effective way to enter the business at the moment.

I have had to put lists up of things I can no longer eat and drink after having baby #4. All the things give me really bad indigestion/heart burn and then hot flushes. No it’s not menopause, it’s every time I eat said food or drink. It bloody sucks but it’s been 6 months since bubs was born and yet I haven’t got drilled into my head. 3 other kids and a husband that I still eat and drink the things, it’s hard. I will get there. Omg yes. I gave away so many last year and they still keep giving them. They’re harder to get rid of when they’re monogrammed. I live alone. I don’t need 200 cups and mugs. I wouldn’t mind just not getting anything at all. I can’t get rid of things fast enough. Living in a small space I don’t have the room for all this stuff. The nice things I get don’t even fit my lifestyle. I wouldn’t mind getting useful things I could use like gift cards to places where I can buy food or fuel.

Oh my goodness. I was replaced and divorced with my 4 children & also 2 of my older sisters children for over 20 years and had to learn to be extremely frugal but afford the children some luxury things and for their school and activities so a Budget was necessary. We used the Library and free events big time and I still do. I remarried 10 years ago and he was a tough one to get on board with the program but has for the most part. I am the one that creates and runs the budget and to do or to buy lists. I am into a Deep Spring Cleaning and Simplifying our Lifestyle month through February. I am getting my Plants ready for Spring and only growing what will help our budget, what I can sell, and what I can swap. We love building puzzles so I am in a Puzzle Swap Group that I swap our puzzles out each month and the meet is always within 20 minutes drive. I do create and do Savings Challenges each year. I am busy minimizing all the Holidays and special days and Seasons Decor. It truly is more enjoyable having less. It's true Less is More. We have 4 coats and jackets, Blue Jean Jacket, all weather jacket, Winter Jacket, Dress Jacket, oh and a black or gray sweater. We have an umbrella in each car and two hang on hooks by the door. We have a cane in each car, one with my husband, and one on a hook by the front door. We have gardening gloves, work gloves, cleaning gloves, and winter gloves. It's being organized with what is needed only and we are loving it.

I'm totally with you on gifts. People are shocked when they ask if I'm done Christmas shopping, and I say "I haven't done any yet" and they get all panicky for me, and I'm like, "I'm not buying anything anyway". THOUSANDS of dollars saved. I used to buy crap for everyone, and I received lots of crap in return. It's so sad when current media reports how billions of dollars of products are returned after Christmas and they show all the ways to pay down your credit card after Jan 1. Just stop the insanity, keep all that crap out of the landfills and use your money as you mentioned: experiences and togetherness are the way to go.

I love this. I am almost as good as you. Not quite as good. I am 72 years old. Own my house, no mortgage, husband passed away five years ago. I have two retirements, lots of investments. I could easily buy a huge multi million dollar home. I bought a 1700 sq foot new home in a new development. Paid cash for it. No mortgage, taxes are much lower than a huge house. I love it. Great neighbors. My sister stays here a couple days a week. Don’t have cable. Have a Samsung tv and it is more than good enough. UA-cam has been a great addition in my life. I used to go to the grocery store four times a month. Spent a hundred dollars every time I went. Last year I went to the grocery every ten days (3 times a month). I still spent 100 dollars each time. I had my shopping list and everything. So I saved 100 dollars every month. Over a thousand dollars each year in savings. My car is 10 years old. It’s a Honda CRV that I bought 8 years ago. It was two years old when I bought it. I love saving my money. It is sort of rubbing off on my sister. Great video! You inspire me.

Skipping clutter-creating gifts is a great idea. It really works for us, and makes gift-giving less stressful, besides. My partner and I have normalized consumable and practical gifts between us for birthdays and Christmas for years, and I love it. Most of the gifts we exchange are "food or drink I know you like that you don't get often" or "replacement for that beloved item (usually clothing) that has been used to death." Inexpensive, non-cluttering expressions of love.
Christmas 2022 was a bit of an odd one. By the last quarter of the year, we were both looking at replacing computers, after putting it off too long, so we made our individual choices, bought for ourselves during November's Black Friday/pre-Black Friday sales cycles, and called them our Christmas gifts.
This Christmas (2023) was more normal. We replaced a couple of inexpensive kitchen items that have been loved into terrible condition by one or the other of us, and then each bought a gift bag full of rarely-purchased-but-much-enjoyed snacks for each other on sneaky solo shopping trips.

Flour, pasta, grains tip: After you buy one of these things, put them in the freezer for at least 24 hours (I wrap my bag of flour in a plastic grocery bag and put the pasta in a Baggie if it comes in a box). Freezing it for 24+ hours will kill the bug eggs and then you can store this stuff for as long as you want.

Since you pointed out that seasonal stuff does not always work as well, maybe I will just choose a few bold colors to go with each season. When I say I’m beyond embarrassed 🙈 I will be reining that in significantly this year and being much more intentional about any clothing purchases. Trying to curate my dream closet cost me way more than I thought it should and looking for the “perfect” clothing is a just a pipe dream promised my social media anyway it seems!

No soda is a no go for me. 😆 But less or no sweets otherwise, no problem! My goal for this year is to max out my Roth again and to take better control of my non-essentials spending (except for soda because that is an essential). 😄

I agree with almost all of these things Christine! Except the beef, pasta, books and gifts. My kids are still super young but with how generous our family members are with gifts for them I could probably get away with it! And I'm hosting a book club this year so I will definitely be buying paper books. Love these kind of videos!

I actually started implementing almost every one of these no-buys (some temporarily, for obvious reasons, because things wear out) years ago out of necessity and now at age 59, I will probably not go back. I'm a sewist, so yes, I make seasonal pillow covers, etc, but it's about what works/doesn't work for you. I'm okay with those things, as are my adult kids. I just learned a long time ago that everyone has different things that work or don't work for them, the key is to stop what doesn't, use what you have and be more practical. I basically buy almost all of my clothing on clearance or at least very good sales, and I decided that for items such as books and things to watch, the library and internet provide them free, or a better way of looking at online stuff is, you're probably already paying enough for the internet or phone service, USE it!

Christine, So happy to hear you are going to use up that beef and pasta! I had been worried about you. 😂 sometimes we just don’t realize how FULL our pantries actually are. Trying to be more intentional myself. Happy New Year!

Agree w your list, excellent wise choices.
Christmas towels, yes. Easy to store away, has holiday feel with function. Easy to declutter if/when not functional.
Been on Audible for a year, love it.
My meal planning is on a little weekly calendar from Dollar Tree.
Have practiced 'no buy' and 'low budget buy' months for many years. Now its very easy.

You've got this. I have not had a soda or energy drink for over 13 years. Great goals to set. Here's to a great year!

I’ve had that same experience with my sense of smell changing once it returned, you’re the first person I’ve heard who had the same thing happen! So many scents I used to love smell like chemicals to me now, 2+ years later! Even some foods… which is good since they are processed foods that aren’t good for me anyway.

I love this list. I am with you with most of them. I am also on a mission to use up the stockpiled food before it goes bad. Definitely no shoes and clothing needed.

Oh yes I'm not the only one!!! We canceled our internet, streaming, TV and we got pay phones for me and hubby and we're family of six
(We realized that our 5 and 7 year olds don't need their personal phones and five different tablets with the services on them) but good for you, you got this 🎉😊
