    Mad Respect for you man for showing a video of you getting tapped and having your off day. A lot of BJJ youtubers don't like showing videos of themselves getting smashed. Although you're a absolute Beast at BJJ, we all have our good and bad days, it's all part of the game and it makes us better and this video shows your humility.

    I admire your willingness to get beaten so badly by a top class player. The man is amazing at JJ and it just goes to show that even a very skilled grappler like yourself can be outclassed. It is a big world out there and we all need to be humble. There is always SOMEONE out there who is next level better at anything.

  • @greasebob
    @greasebob 3 місяці тому

    lol appreciate the candidness showing the video and in the commentary-- you made me lol several times here, props. People tend to think "black belts are invincible", whereas the painful reality that an older or purely recreational blackbelt can very often or very easily get handled by a true competition ready lower belt on the mats is the real truth. Its no knock on you at all. I just got my black belt at 44 and 155lbs after grappling since literally 1995 after seeing Royce do it in the UFC. I have competed a few times, had a cage fight, won a few gold medals, few silver, few bronze, a NAGA belt, etc-- but I train extremely casually and have had very long periods of not training which is why its taken me so long to get the black. I hold my own in my own gym against guys my own size and bigger, but occasionally have to tap , its no big deal. If I let it be a big deal, I wouldnt have gotten my black. Just reality. Props for keeping it light.

    Jokes aside, thanks for showing that even the upper belts have "those days" too. You lived a lot of the mantras we tell ourselves;
    - Check the ego at the door
    - Tap early, tap often
    - Be gracious, they are your partner not opponent
    - If you get spanked, make sure to talk about how your gym doesn't train gi/nogi as applies to the situation
    - Stay calm under pressure, everyone has the same weird thoughts
    Respect my dude

    Love your work. You are brave and ambitious. I hope your emphasis on winning and losing are in jest. It’s the getting tapped fast and often is how ya learn. Enough of them and you improve.
    The fact that you are doing Gi means you are on a disciplined path. Discipline is doing what we hate to do because it is necessary to reach our goals of self development; moreover, to do it until we learn to love it and make it a part of our lives… this is the way!!!
    It is my hope that if I ever get to meet you that you allow me to drill with you enough to be tapped out enough to learn !!!

    The amazing thing about Jiu-Jitsu is that there are so many levels of making the person below you look silly. When I roll with someone brand new, they look silly. When I roll with someone who's been a blue belt for a while, I look silly. When I watch them roll with a purple belt, they look silly. Then that purple belt rolls with a brown and looks silly. And so on. I'm sure Tyler is at least 5 orders of magnitude better than I am. And yet, this roll could've been me against an upper blue belt.
