I hope we get to see this with the DB-01 & LXR-02 all together. I’m for sure getting all of them after watching all your videos I love the sounds so much!
That was the goal so thanks 2-Minute! Most demos seem to focus on the crazy amounts of automation you can do from step to step which I think obscures the fact that this is actually a pretty good "plain synth".
I made these two geologic ages ago so my memory is thin. But with everything on the Mono the power is in the LFO-per-knob. Especially for pad-like leads just putting a very slow lfo on three or four main parameters makes the whole thing spread out and live.
There's no doubt it's a fantastic machine with incredible sound-making potential. I only got about 5% into the guts. And it wouldn't be the first time I've sold a machine only to buy it again. I did that with the Zen delay and the 01/IV :/ (twice).
@@RichardDeHove I get on my computer and wonder why I buy stuff sometimes, then start twisting knobs and I forget all about it lol. this one has that potential and the randomizer is awesome. can't wait to integrate it to the daw setup to see what I can do as well!
The Norand has some rich character! Wow! Really impressed with the tonal variety you got out of it here. With a desktop synth like this, is it possible to have 2 of them to be played on one midi keyboard controller to create duophonic vibes?
very interesting idea. I think the problem would be the controller figuring out note priority between the machines. Then you'd also have the issue of matching sounds. Might be easier to split the oscillators on a single Norand. You could do that via MIDI CC - there are separate CC values for Osc 1 and 2 frequency, although you'd still be sharing a envelope.
Some really lovely patches! Can really get some great 80’s industrial sounds from this. If you had to choose between the Norand or DB-01 what would you go for?
If the question was "you can only have one synth, the DB-01 or the Norand" then I'd choose the Norand. It can undoubtedly get a massively wider range of sounds and tones. It has huge amounts of modulation and programming depth. But your question is "if you had to choose between the Norand and DB-01". So if I had to give one of them up the Norand would go. That's because the DB-01 is so playable, decently versatile, built like a tank and a bringer of fun and entertainment.
I sold my Mono a while back so can't help too much with the specifics. Generally I found the Mono to be very stable but not very ergonomically friendly. Live I wouldn't want to be doing anything other than selecting presets I'd made or I'd get confused for sure. Have you looked at the Mono V2 ? I had one order early on but cancelled because of the all the bug reports. Now by all reports the firmware is rock solid although people still seem a little wary of the USB MIDI and prefer the DIN MIDI. Really for what it can do it's an absolutely amazing machine yet it has never seemed to 'break through' into popularity. Maybe it's just too complex?
@@RichardDeHove got the Mk2 last year but it was just too buggy for me too, so i send it back, it crashed frequently and all sorts of issues on the OS, I don´t really use USB midi so I can´t say about that, I´m fine with good old din midi, just found an Mk1 brand new so I think I will give it a try, for the Mk2 I might wait and see if they really fixed by now..
@@LucaOrtega I was looking at reports on V2.1.2 which seemed very positive. But Norand lost a lot of people (including you & me!) because of their buggy MkII firmware. Well V1 looks a lot better anyway! At one stage I was so close to getting a second MkI and using them as a drum machine duo :) Certainly I never had any crash issues with V1.
Some of these patches are really cool. Especially love Hollow Man and Throaty Lead.
Love this! 😍

That's a good idea! The DB-01 and Norand talking together with CV could lead just about anywhere.
Thanks, really glad to hear those different sounds coming from this synth 👍(It seems that the Norand is more versatile than I first thought!)

I love your sound in particular the string one. Can you explain how you did it? Thanks!

Love your patches man!
Thanks. (Great username btw !)
I read some of you comments and didn't think about how fiddly the knob per step might be but that's the main reason got it.

so nice
Diese leicht klebrig, giftig Attitude gibt dem Norand einen angenehmen Charme !
Vielen Dank. Ich denke auch, dass mein spiel an diesem tag ein wenig düster und grimmig war.

Whaoooooo love your sound can you share the presets?
Sadly I don't have the Mono anymore.

Thinking on get one of these, what firmware are you using currently ? any important bugs to be aware specially for live performance?

terrible and expensive
