Some crazy connections going on inside that machine. Great, soothing presentation, easy to tell you’re quite excited and amazed by the Norand. P E A C E : )
My interactions with them so far have been spot on and they definitely seem dedicated to improving the synth with software updates over time which is always very nice to see.
Right?! Is it just me, or has "Big Lowpass" been pedalling its propaganda for too long? We've been brainwashed to believe that Lowpass filters are the "defacto" filter type - it's time for Bandpass liberation!

so i have been on a quest to find the best bass synth for my dawless setup. something non-typical, lots of modulation, no keyboard, midi-friendly, save-able patches, lots of hands on control for patching, must be able to do deep soft subs. finally my prayers may have been answered.
Would love to see a video of this paired with Twisted Electrons' Blast Beats. If not for the sweet music they could make together then for how rad they would look side by side.
At last. I'm always baffled by the lack of LFOs and Envelopes on synths these days. I simply can't believe that they are that juicy on DSP or CPU (scrub out whatever is the right there!) and when ASM put 5 LFO and envelopes on the Hydrasynth it felt like it was a WOW moment yet still baffled why so few. Now that said too many can be overkill. Maybe that's so here but at last, at last, the chance to put that to test. Great stuff!!!
I think, despite my glib clickbaity title, the thing that makes it make sense is less to think about there being "lots" of modulators and instead think of it in terms of "modulator per knob", and then it's like: "yeah, of course that makes sense as something I'd want. It's not perfect in every case of course - sometimes you might want common modulators going to multiple places or a more complex mod matrix, but if this is an experiment to see if it can work - I'd say yes. Interestingly (to me at least), I did come up with one other unit I can think of that uses this approach. It's not a synth, but the Bastl Thyme does the 'modulator per knob' thing too.
I'm not that familiar with it. It looks like they are aiming to do different things despite their similarities. The Avalon, from reading, looks like an "elevated" 303 whereas the Mono is a different beast that just happens to have an X0X sequencer. On paper, personally, the Norand is definitely more exciting from my perspective, and can do a good 303 impression if needed, but it'll be down to what you want/need.
to me, it was perfect. I hate it when I have to turn down the volume whenever a synth starts to play in a video just because the creator didn't get the balance right between voice over and music. Please leave it like it is.
No....these are CLEARLY not enough envelopes and LFOs..... We would like 1000 more please....and frequencies ranging from plank units of time to lifespans of black holes.

You are extremely kind, thank you!

Yeah, it's definitely the sort of instrument I'd be excited to build a set around. In fact, perhaps I will...
I've had mine only for a few hours and I want another one!
I bought one immediately after watching this
Yesss! Enjoy your new synth!
love this synth!!!
norand as a company are also amazing and very responsive

Thx for sharing mate 🙂 Cya geezy

7:09 that driven band pass does indeed sound amazing!

We resonate as one. This is one conspiracy theory I can get behind.

I've lusted over a number of the TE instruments in the past, but they've never quite made it to the top of my list. Maybe 2023.
this sequencer is more learnable useable then the Leploop s. . . .
offer some amazing modulation control...nice ...thx...
Fab!

They're lacking because norand took them all lol
Oh please do a thing on the Bastl Thyme, it's my favourite effect!
It's one of those things I almost bought a bunch of times. Maybe one day...
This is precisely what modular is for. I too lamented the lack of LFOs and EGs on mainstream synths - so I stopped using them and ""built"" my own.
Great review OS as ever,SURGEON been using one for few months now with Pulsar 23 Torso T1 Blackbox
👍🌈🆒🎶
This would be a great pairing with a Pulsar 23 - I'm jealous of that setup!
gosh dang. Anthony is always cutting the edge.
Oscillator Sink can this replace the need for Avalon Analogue Bassline?

The Avalon is more 303 than 303. It has a sublime squelch. This guy gives me more modern Aphex vibes. I want both but I’m a total acid fanatic.
Now they need to give use LFOs to modulate the envelopes and envelopes to modulate the LFOs that are modulating all the knobs.
Well they do kinda give us the second one already and you *can* modulate the amp envelope with the X-Mod... So Norand are way ahead of you!
Now - if I could modulate the speed of each LFO with an LFO...
@@OscillatorSink 18 MORE LFOS
@@OscillatorSink You can with a midi LFO to cc 78 Active X-Mod Rate, but only the 1 X-mod
Great video as always! I would love to hear the synth a bit louder / your voice a bit quieter, but it's a nitpick.
