My favorite PAUL HARVEY episode, which really relates to Seth & the Thinking Atheist, is when he told the story of a time that he, Paul Harvey, had been scheduled to speak in a large auditorium, but the tickets were not selling. So to sell more tickets, the producers contracted a young couple who did puppet shows to open for him. With this addition to the ticket, the place sold out. That young couple was Jim Tammy Baker. And that's a true story.
I used to joke and tell my very religious Mother, who was a huge Paul Harvey fan, so I listened to him a lot, that YOU are My Paul Harvey! Lol..love that you just mentioned him.❤️
I used to listen to Paul Harvey all the time......um, that is, when I went overseas on the Voice of America in the '70s! Thanks Seth for the memories! I like your style with "True Stories" podcast... I'm sure it will be listened to by many
Wow! After all the nudging some of us gave Mike Rowe to do this format, you deliver! This really took me back to my childhood...listening to the radio with my dad. "And now you know....the rest of the story" was iconic!
Glad that POS Mike Rowe didn't ! You know that Mike is an evangelical Republicunt right !? That POS went on Faux Nuze and said that people who don't have jobs are lazy and don't want to work. He said that there are plenty of jobs out there and if you're not working, it's because you're lazy and you don't want to work and you want the government to support your lazy ass. Mike Rowe is a fucking POS Republicunt who believes in the invisible wizard who lives in the sky
Seth is spot on and so informative on so many things. His live talk on how Christianity made him talk stupid when he was part of it made me laugh so hard. He is so funny and speaks nothing but the facts and truth of our reality.
What I remember about the Reagan assassination attempt is that it came a few short months after the assassination of John Lennon. Reagan reaction to the trauma visited on all by John’s death was to dismiss gun control. Years later how many more people have needlessly died through a lack of sensible gun controls.
The Reagan assassination attempt story has ironic similarities to the attempted assassinate former U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt on October 14, 1912. The assassin shot him at close range while he was campaigning in Milwaukee . . . As an experienced hunter and anatomist, Roosevelt correctly concluded that since he was not coughing blood, the bullet had not reached his lung; he declined suggestions to go to the hospital immediately. Instead, he delivered his scheduled speech. His opening comments to the gathered crowd were, "Ladies and gentlemen, I don't know whether you fully understand that I have just been shot, but it takes more than that to kill a Bull Moose." That's . . . "The Rest of the Story." 😊😉
Seth, I loved this! I listened to Paul Harvey, in Milwaukee when in 3rd grade, around 1966? every day at lunch, with my Dad, as I was in catholic school, the only school I could go to, just across the street. A short interlude of my parents considering 'trying again'! Yours was close enough for memories, but much better! Your voice is actually much better, as I've heard Paul Harvey, some of the originals, and his son, I believe, when they were comparing them. He did fine. I'm so glad you're keeping that alive, it is great! Thankyou!! I needed this, as we in my house are all on the 'dying out loud mode!' Mom, 84, myself 63 and younger sister, 53 plus the dog who is diabetic and went from astoundingly good sight to blind in a few months. None of us want to be last, lol! Well, maybe the dog! This was, and will again be, a great break from IRL. 👍🌊💙💙💙🌊🥰✌
Mike Rowe does a podcast called “The Way I Heard It” which is also patterned after the wonderful Paul Harvey, but Seth, the world can never have too many story tellers! Keep it going! I look forward to more of these true stories as told by you!
Seth, it’s very good to hear that you’re not going anywhere. It is not a stretch to say that you are as important in the modern world as Christopher Hitchens was before he passed. You are one of the most important and intelligent and well balanced voices for reason. I’m very glad to hear that this is still as important to you as it is. It’s just as important to us.
So, I went to Google podcasts to take a listen. The second ad after the first episode was, yup, you guessed it, an ad for a christian university. Gotta love it.
Yeah, this is great! The (nonexistent) Ghost of Paul Harvey is present. Seth is even one of the few people out there with the pipes to be able to pull this off. I'm out in the middle of Kansas at noon in the middle of a hot summer listening to Paul's show. Page two. . .
Love your podcasts and your work. It is very important work Seth - many thanks. Just looked today and there are 23 podcasts that I've missed. Missed no more they are all downloaded on my phone :) nice, cannot wait to listen to them. Best Gray, from the UK
I swear you were channeling Paul Harvey during that Reagan story. As for Nike, having lived in Oregon for most of my adult life, I already knew the story...and it made me very happy to hear you share it with the rest of your listeners. Didn't know about the Anglo-Zanzibar War...or Sam Jackson. I love trivia like that! Thanks for this!
Yes! You are very good at telling stories. I was in 6th grade when that happened. My classmates and I wrote get well cards to him and we got responses.
You have the best voice I have ever heard for being on the radio, even better than Vin Skully. Now you seem to be turning into Vin Skully by telling stories also.
Hi Seth. Not been checking out your😆 posts for a while but I still love your work. So glad you're still with us :) I knew it had to be NIKE. Everyone wants NIKE.
I would like to listen to stories of people that have become atheist, and their personal path, and that they answer to a different question, the same questions to see the difference in each one: what are the things that make them change? What has been the specific moment or situation that has made them change? And what have they gained or transform in their lives.
I remember that Nike shoes were stolen a lot. Children would be robbed in the street. Just a few years ago a teen was murdered by a robber for his Air Jordans.
Almost every time I look up " atheist" or " atheism" I see favoritism of hate on atheists or something about theists more. The thing is now searching on youtube is even less to those with channels in algorithm as much no matter the topic. Once some one says they are atheist...it is like one of those demonetized words. Thankful to help me be ok with doubt. Your videos on that helped me accept that I am agnostic apatheistic atheist...and that is ok. I made a playlist on religious/ irreligious views and glad to have placed you on them.
Who is Yaldabaoth in the Bible? In the Archontic, Sethian, and Ophite systems, Yaldabaoth (Yahweh) is regarded as the malevolent Demiurge and false god of the Old Testament (Judaism, not Samaritan) who generated the material universe and keeps the souls trapped in physical bodies, imprisoned in the world full of pain and suffering that he created. When Pistis Sophia saw him moving in the depth of the waters, she said to him, “Youth, pass over here,” which is interpreted as “Yaldabaoth.” Passover, Hebrew Pesaḥ or Pesach, in Judaism, holiday commemorating the Hebrews' liberation from slavery in Egypt and the “passing over” of the forces of destruction, or the sparing of the firstborn of the Israelites, when the Lord “smote the land of Egypt” on the eve of the Exodus. Egypt meaning: Temple of the Soul of Ptah.
Sorry to sound a discordant note, but I don’t think this is in the Paul Harvey class. Seth, you should stick to being the Thinking Atheist. There’s plenty more religious issues to explore out there. Some of your recent podcasts have hinted at burnout, but there’s plenty more religious/atheist themes to explore. Give me a call and I will help you set up a podcast on religiosity and non-belief in Japan, a deeply non-religious country littered with shrines and temples.
Your work is INCREDIBLY important. To me, and many others. Atheist activism would not be the same without you.
I really loved this. Taking a break from crazy evangelicals and MAGA cult is critical.
MAGA is not a cult. It's people with common sense It's something you probably know nothing about.
Amen lol 😆😂
What's a MAGA cult?
@@vic.smittie.5668 Where is the cave you live in located bro?!
@@jackmyers2359 I have NO idea what a MAGA cult is. I know what a cult is. Maybe even a MEGA cult. But never heard of a MAGA cult. Sorry.
I've been thinking about wanting to hear more 'strange but true' type stories. So glad you're doing this 😊

Seth I really like your second podcast idea. It's perfect. Thank you for sharing it with us.

I really miss hearing those stories. They were something I looked forward to every day.
Seth is spot on and so informative on so many things. His live talk on how Christianity made him talk stupid when he was part of it made me laugh so hard. He is so funny and speaks nothing but the facts and truth of our reality.
Watching that one makes me happy when Christians go ticking me off.
Seth's voice calms me.

Reagan reaction to the trauma visited on all by John’s death was to dismiss gun control. Years later how many more people have needlessly died through a lack of sensible gun controls.
Gun controls/laws only work on law-abiding citizens.
Too many unfortunately.

Good morning Seth!
That was so much fun! I always loved Paul Harvey and I think your second channel will be a hit.
Britney Spears has apparently joined our ranks.
Wow, I never thought I'd hear myself saying those words.
Just when you think she will retire with her miserable catalogue of "music" she does something to put herself back in the limelight grr.
What?
Oh man, thank you for these. Really takes me back to those days of listening to Paul.
I'll have to check this out.
These stories are wonderful. I have subscribed already.

I can hear Paul Harvey in your voice. I remember when I was young I didn't watch the news but I would tune in to watch Paul Harvey.
Man, best of luck to You with this new venture. I think this is very healthy to diverge to some other stuff, not to get worn or burnt out.

Hello from the Church of What's Happening Now!🤪
Keep going. Listening in Canada.
I think Mike Rowe is doing a "rest of the story" kind of thing sometimes...
Anyway Seth I love your work and your style. Keep it up. 👍👍❤
Seth you are very handsome

I love this!
wow that story about Samuel L Jackson holy shit 💀 this new podcast might be my in to get my mom to listen to Seth Andrews 😌
Rock on Seth 🤠
I miss the Paul Harvey show. It is good to see that it is almost back.
I am worried that people will wear out from the political over-publication. Alas, the republicans need to be answered. Thanks for the break.
And now you know
The rest
Of the story!
I've been wondering, where do I go to find out how to call in on the tta podcast?
This was impressive 👍
I thought Paul Harvey quit journalism to open a Tex-Mex joint in Pomona?

clickbait! Misleading title.
Look at that, 666 likes. The devil is among us. 😅
Paul Harvey did those vignettes with celebratory flair. But they were often sensationalist in nature and often only contained a kernel of truth.
I think they also had commercials cleverly embedded in them.
Seth, a little more Andrews and a lot less Harvey, please.
nah, not your thing. your intonations are not well suited to generic story telling, which is also very bland.
