    I sooo envy for being able all these things (making items, posting consistently, doing markets) while taking care of your family.
    My two small ones take most of my time every day that I’ve got too little time/energy to work on my projects. 🤭

    • @googoogoods
      @googoogoods  3 місяці тому

      It's definitely an endeavor!! Thankfully my boys still nap a little bit and have each other to entertain themselves (they usually do okay with that until things get a little rough and tumble lol) so I am able to get a good bit done. For markets they get some good daddy time in and I'm very grateful Ethan is a great partner!!

    On that e-reader sleeve, have you thought of maybe doing a magnet closure? I have a pair of headphones that have a cover with one of those. It’s super satisfying to use. There are two little plastic (or maybe silicone or rubber) tabs on the top. You just pull them apart to open, and then it just shuts magnetically when done. I love it! 🥹

      I'm definitely looking into magnet closures! I'm going to order a few and see how easy they are to sew in! I love how satisfying that is to close too so I may have to do that lol

    Sergers are fun to use! And button closure is my vote

      I'm excited to see how it adds to my sewing capabilities!! I think the button is going to be the way I go!

    The new wallet is so cute! When ordering vinyl it is 54" wide just like the home decor fabric so you'll have clear vinyl for alot of projects, it does come in handy.
    In regards to your thread, after sewing the quilted bags your machine needs to opened up and cleaned each day. Any little piece of fuzz can cause the stitches to go wonky.
    I also recommend trying gütterman thread.

    • @googoogoods
      @googoogoods  3 місяці тому +1

      This roll will definitely last me a long time lol! I definitely think this thread specifically was struggling because I put in the old thread from Joann’s and it slid through like butter and didn’t pull my needle at all so I’m just going to stick with that kind for a while!! My old thread is coats and Clark and that’s been working good for me! Maybe I’ll do a test video with a few different threads and see which I like best!!

  • @starbrown1219

    One of the best threads to use is Aurifil 50 wt cotton. I usually buy the big spool which lasts a long time. It creates very little lint and sews beautifully. I’m amazed at how well you caught onto sewing. You have really mastered impressive skills. I like the colored snap with the tab or Velcro for a closure on the tablet bag.

    • @googoogoods
      @googoogoods  3 місяці тому

      I've never tried Aurifil but have heard good things I'll have to get a spool! Thank you so much I do try really hard lol. I think I'm going to do a mixture of a few different closure types so there's some variety!

    Thanks for sharing another great video !!! Maybe you can make templates for the wallet, so you don't have to measure all the time. I usually make them with cardstock or clear cutting mats from dollar tree, I use a Sharpie to write down how many pieces do I need from each piece. Just a suggestion that works for me 🙂

    • @googoogoods
      @googoogoods  3 місяці тому +1

      That is such a great idea!! I thought about doing templates for other things but didn't think about the wallet! I know Lowes will cut acrylic for you so I was thinking that but the dollar tree hack seems so much easier!! Thank you so much!!

    I think Velcro would be awesome plus it’s accessible. I have a hand injury so sometimes it’s hard for me to close up little buttons like that (although I do love the kam snaps)

    • @googoogoods
      @googoogoods  3 місяці тому

      I think I'm going to do a mix and maybe also some magnetic snap closures too!!

    I just got a serger a couple of months ago! I was terrified. 😂But it’s a game changer. Also, I say the snap enclosure. Velcro gets hair and junk stuck in it. JMO. Thanks for the video!

      I’m definitely going to leave the blade down for the first few months of using it lol I’m very excited to master it!! I think snap too, I thought Velcro was so cute but I definitely didn’t think about the hair getting stuck that does give me the ick lol

    For the kindle holder I think the snap buttons that you have on it right now is best.

    I would do the snaps because Velcro will wear out overtime. You’re gonna love that charger I have one and I’ll be great for your bags too to do all the seams. When I do my grocery bags, I do the shoulder straps, handles, and the bottoms and the sides all on my surgery because it makes it stronger. I buy a giant roll of Parchment paper on Amazon because one I use it for my heat press, but two are used to trace out all my pattern pieces that I print from online get printer paper you know it’s so thin and the parchment paper in a little bit thicker, I would technically like to turn them into acrylic blocks are the ones I make all the time and there is a lady on Etsy that does that for you

    • @googoogoods
      @googoogoods  3 місяці тому

      I definitely think I’m going to do a mix and maybe also do some magnetic snaps! I know I am so excited to get really good at using the serger I think it is definitely going to elevate my sewn items!! Right now I’m saving a bit for a laser because I’ve thought about cutting my own pattern pieces too! I think that’s a great idea I’ve got a few people on Etsy saved in case I back out of the laser idea lol. I’ve been tracing patterns on the drawing paper for my kids easel from IKEA lol and it works good but it is a lot of effort!

    I think you are leaving out a whole demographic of people who don't like prints (like me). Have you considered adding some solid colors? Even if it's just black fabric items and pink ones or even cream and black.

    • @googoogoods
      @googoogoods  3 місяці тому +2

      The next time I get fabric I will definitely get solid ones!! I’m just a sucker for patterns lol

  • @katt_winter
    @katt_winter 3 місяці тому

    Another great video! I think I like the little snaps as they can colour coordinate with the fabric and are quiet to open. As you also have that lovely embroidery machine, maybe you could offer monogram personalisation on the book/device sleeves and bags? I’m planning on doing that but I’m scared of the embroidery functions on my machine so (as I’m a quilter) I’m going to make my letters via foundation paper piecing instead. x

    • @googoogoods
      @googoogoods  3 місяці тому +1

      I definitely like the color coordinating snaps!! The yellow was the perfect color to match the duck rain boots lol. For some reason doing personalization on my machine stresses me out because I put too much pressure on myself to make sure it’s perfect. I do it but it makes me nervous every time lol.

    • @katt_winter
      @katt_winter 3 місяці тому

      @@googoogoods - I totally understand that. I don’t know how it would work but maybe an initial could be embroidered just on the ITH bags instead? As they are there already, maybe that would make it easier as it could be incorporated into the making of the bag, whilst it’s already on the machine? Just a thought of course. 😸 Oh and I also had an issue with thread I purchased from Amazon. My machine absolutely hates it so I’ve reverted back to Aurifil. If you haven’t tried that make, it maybe worth a try. x

    It takes so much time for each piece. I'm honestly shocked you can keep up with demand! I make jewelry so it's about 30 mins per piece altogether and I still struggle to keep inventory!

    • @googoogoods
      @googoogoods  3 місяці тому +1

      It definitely is a time consuming process! I don't sell too many sewn things at markets so unfortunately I am quite able to keep up with demand lol

    I think Joanns is really just wearing down their workers with all their strange new policies since the bankruptcy and such. I had a similar thing where they couldn’t find my fabric and I walked straight up to it with no issues 😅 and it was even in the correct section!

    • @googoogoods
      @googoogoods  3 місяці тому

      I did go in and see if I could find it but I couldn’t either lol. I do feel bad I usually see the same employees and they are never super stoked to be there which I totally get but I’m just trying to get my fabric I’m not the enemy lol!!

      Our JoAnns has always been like that. They didn't know what PUL fabric was or where it was in the store. I had to go grab a bolt and show them... That was 4 years ago.. I only go there if I have to. I use my Wholesale accounts whenever possible.
